This is the team I have recently made for the “NC 1997” format. Although not currently playable as of posting, I would like to share it anyway.
Starting with the choice of party members, I think these six would make a pretty decent party, a.k.a, I tried my best:
*Alakazam and Gengar have some of the highest special stats in all of Gen 1.
*Jolteon is the 2nd fastest Gen 1 pokemon, right behind electrode.
*Dragonite has the highest attack stat in Gen 1.
*Cloyster has the highest defense stat in Gen 1.
*Tauros is a mix of speed and attack, making it a decent sweeper.
*Everyone is at level 50 except dragonite, as its level 55 is when it evolves from dragonair. This is to ensure that any combo of 3 can be made.
Alakazam: Alakazam has the 2nd highest special stat in Gen 1, behind mewtwo.
Psychic- A classic damaging move usually used by special attackers.
Recover- Restores HP. This makes up for Alakazam’s low HP.
Reflect- Makes up for Alakazam’s low defense.
Subsitute- Can be used along with recover to turn Alakazam into a staller.
Gengar: Gengar has one of the highest special stats in Gen 1.
Psychic- A classic damaging move that does decent damage.
Confuse Ray- Confuse the opponent for some potentially extra damage and free turns.
Thunderbolt- For dealing with Flying and Water types.
Subsitute- Combine with Confuse Ray for potential protection.
Dragonite: Has the highest attack stat of all Gen 1 pokemon.
Subsitute and Rest- Used for stalling purposes.
Body Slam and Hyper Beam- Use body slam for quick damage and hyper beam for massive damage.
Cloyster: Cloyster is one of the most underrated Gen 1 Pokémon. It has the highest defense of all Gen 1 pokemon.
Subsitute and Rest- Stalling.
Clamp- Good for when opponent is poisoned.
Ice Beam- Decent damaging move.
Jolteon: Jolteon is right behind electrode in terms of speed.
Reflect- Make up for Jolteon’s bad defense stat.
Toxic- Poison the opponent or paralyze them with a lucky thunderbolt.
Thunderbolt- Damage dealer.
Pin Missle- This is for dealing with psychic types, especially Alakazam.
Tarous: A good mix of speed and attack.
Body Slam and Stomp- Use body slam until the opponent is paralyzed. Then, attack with stomp for flinch chances.
Earthquake- Amazing damage dealer.
Toxic- Poison the target. Good for when the opponent is down to their last pokemon or when used to poison all of them.
This is where I close off this post. Thanks for reading!
