as the title ever so subtly states, i chose not to put the extremely popular scizor or salamence in my team to try and stick out from the rest of the crowd. crazy idea right? well thats why im posting it here so you guys can help me out with the team (or try to talk me out of this nonsense).
alright lets get to it, at a glance:
(previously porygon2)
now for our lead...
wait what the hell... oh well close enough
crobat @ black sludge
104 HP / 152 Atk / 252 Spe
jolly
inner focus
brave bird
roost
taunt
u-turn
this guy is easily my favorite lead, since he outspeeds any lead that doesnt have 130 base speed and taunts them before they can return the favor or set up their rocks, which usually gives me the upper hand. when he does encounter those other base 130 speed leads i usually just u-turn out while they waste a taunt on crobat and switch to my swampert and get my rocks down/ kill their leads.
hmm this must be swamperts shiny form
swampert @ leftovers
240 HP / 216 Def / 52 SpA
relaxed
torrent
stealth rock
ice beam
hydro pump
earthquake
swampert pairs up really well with his lead buddy crobat seeing as though they resist each others weaknesses and scare away each others counters. stealth rock usually gets set up early in most battles with this guy and if he cant get it up in early game he usually stays alive long enough to set it up later in game. he also scares away all those rock pokemon that try to shit on gyarados' parade.
dammit gliscor not again, seriously...
theres my ghost
gengar @ life orb
252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Def
timid
levitate
shadow ball
focus blast
thunderbolt
destiny bond
you never really know whats gonna happen when you throw a gengar into a battle, and that unpredictability is exactly why i have him on my team. his attacking moves are for all around coverage but destiny bond is a twist on the usual explosion since you can take out ghosts and steels with destiny bond and you can play mind games with your opponent. you want to get rid of gengar but at the same time you dont want to lose one of your pokemon to do it, and destiny bond doesnt give them much of an option.
great at scouting and great at saving me 15% or more on car insurance, win
flygon @ choice scarf
80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
naughty
levitate
earthquake
stone edge
u-turn
draco meteor/fire blast
i needed somebody to help crobat out with scouting my opponents team and i also needed a check against zapdos with HP grass and rain dance kingdra. welcome aboard flygon. along with scouting and taking out the above pokemon, flygon is also used as my revenge killer. draco meteor fits in nicely with flygons hit and run style but with porygon2 and swampert to deal with dragons i may opt for fire blast to hit bronzong and other steel types. suggestions would be nice on this.
starmie @ life orb (previously porygon2)
252 SpA / 252 Spe / SpD
timid
natural cure
surf
recover
psychic
HP fire
alrighty i figured porygon2 was giving me redundant type coverage so i figured i could use someone fast that could hit types i didnt have covered beforehand (steels, poisons and the such) but i do feel that the moveset that came with this starmie is pretty crappy compared to what it could be running so im most likely going to change it to surf, thunderbolt HP fire/ psychic and recover. this guy is also my teams status absorber because of the ever so wonderful natural cure ability. any advice on the moveset would be appreciated
wrong...
warmer...
bingo!
gyarados @ leftovers
156 HP / 108 Atk / 100 Def / 144 Spe
adamant
intimidate
dragon dance
waterfall
stone edge
bounce
this guy is a hardcore gangster if you guys didnt already know lol. my previous team had scizor being my late game sweeper and gyarados was there to soften everybody up for him but i wound up sweeping more teams with gyarados while scizor was sitting his ass on the sidelines. this guy can take a hit which in turn allows him to sweep effectively since it gives me the turn of dragon dance or even 2 dragon dances if my opponent cant hurt gyarados as much as they would like. from there its pretty straightforward. waterfall waterfall waterfall until something comes along to resist it, then i have stone edge to deal with the birds and dragons while bounce sometimes catches people by surprise. it either makes them switch to a less reliable gyarados counter and fail to do damage to me for a turn or lets me hit them hard and gain a little extra leftovers recovery.
well thats my team, not the most common pokemon in the world but overall i think they work together pretty decently. feel free to leave your opinions and advice. its a little too late for me to write up a threat list right now so ill get to that some time tommorow.
