Hey, I took a break for a while from battling but decided to come back. I stuck with my hail teams for a bit but decided to go no-weather and just make one up. My internet sucks so I'm not going to try to upload pictures, but here it is.
Edit: Pictures in.
ONYOURNECK! (Scolipede) (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Swarm
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Megahorn
- Earthquake
- Toxic Spikes
In general I lead with Scolipede after deciding in team preview whether I want spikes or toxic spikes. However there are several situations I save him - if there's a reuniclus, a lati (check for scarf), or a celebi, then I wait to spring a megahorn for later. This guy catches many by surprise with his speed and is very versatile - while he doesn't have much staying power, sash lets him take people out mid-game if needed or I can sac him for an extra layer.
Serpent (Gyarados) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP / 72 Atk / 96 Def / 184 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
Bulky DDos has always been a hail team staple and he works great here too. Fast taunt shuts down many walls, then DD and power through them. This guy is very solid here but nothing exceptional, especially considering I already have a bulky water if there are any suggestions this is a slot I'm thinking about changing. However I probably do need taunt somewhere, or maybe a phazer.
Conk (Conkeldurr) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Guts
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SDef
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Payback
Originally there was no spot for a sweeper because I had a ghost and Gastrodon, but since jellicent took the bulky water job I had a spot for a sweeper/sand counter. I started with Landorus but he wasn't doing that well, and someone suggested Conkeldurr for a sand counter and just all-around beast. I haven't done too many battles with him but it seems to be working. 6-0ed the last 2 sand teams I've hit. Set is pretty standard.
'Stache (Jellicent) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover
- Taunt
Nothing much to say here. Standard jelli (no energy ball sorry), walls a lot and cripples a lot of sweepers. Fulfills several important roles as bulky water and ghost, I'm a bit wary of taking out Gyara because I'm not sure if this guy can take the abuse required for both of those but if ya'll think he can than gyara probably becomes expendable.
Moray (Eelektross) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Acid Spray
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Grass Knot
So many things die to this guy. Blissey? 2 acid sprays and done. Reuniclus? same deal. So many swamperts have used earthquake and eaten a grass knot. Too many people u-turn to scizor and SD only to eat a flamethrower. This guy has been my MVP. And honestly, I don't think I have to rely on surprise value/people not knowing the set for this to be effective. I considered the physical Coil set but considering I have gyara and conk that seemed unnecessary, this is the only source of strong special attacks. While I do like this guy if anybody has someone who you think completely outshines him I will test it, I'm not going to sacrifice performance because of personal preference.
Pinecone (Forretress) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Gyro Ball
Similarly to gyarados, this guy has been...okay. He fulfills his role, spins when I need him to and SRs when there's a volcarona or something, but other than that...he doesn't do much. Usually spins once or twice and then dies. He's doing fine, but a replacement that is awesome would be cool. Note - I am perfectly willing to sacrifice stealth rock. I am NOT willing to sacrifice rapid spin. A replacement spinner would be cool, again stealth rock is not a requirement though.
Yeah, so that's it. This team has been doing well for me, my first sustained run over 1200 in the Wifi tier, but I do feel like it could improve, 2 spots mostly (gyara and forry) and possibly eelektross. Any opinions are appreciated. Thanks!
