No tiers?

This regards competitor, as in-game would be extremely annoying to accomplish.
Though seeing as competitor isn't out yet, this is just a hope in a possibility.
Also, I am fairly new to the metagame, and not an avid forum browser, so forgive me if this is old.

If possible, I say we forego the tiers whilest not foregoing them.
Basically, give everybody a (sort-of) equal playing ground.
How would this be accomplished?
Well, it would be based on tiers, so the tier debates can rage on... But for the simplest example, each tier gets it's own level
NU ~ 100
UU~90
BL ~ 80
OU ~70
Uber ~ 60
Now these are just examples. Ubers still might be overpowered, or maybe NUs will rock the game. Someone with more knowledge of stats than I could look into this.
As a more specific example, we assign a pokemon a level, though this would be nigh impossible. Less specifically but more balancing, we could give certain pokes a middle level. Let's take some pokemon perhaps above OU though maybe not Uber
Ttar will be the example. We'll give him a nice level of 65 for the above example.
I know this only really affects stats, but as movepools are taken into consideration with tiers, this could work.
Again, all this might have been said. But I haven't seen a single thing regarding it.

This won't be fun, and won't work too well IMO. There is no real reason to do all of this, as tiers are fairly balanced, outside of ubers of course also , i thought tier discussion wasn't allowed, if this counts

Actually, IMO that would be a pretty interesting way to play...it'd be impossible for regular DS play, but on competitior it might be an interesting alternate ruleset.

I don't think anyone would play this unless they were bored, basically the same thing as level balance in netbattle.

It sounds like a good idea in theory, but in practice it would be difficult to implement, as there would be no way to give each pokemon an entirely fair level so that its potential would equal that of every other pokemon. It would likely devolve into a constantly changing environment of people abusing whatever pokemon were currently imbalanced in a positive position (though these problems would become less extreme over time until near equality was reached).

Also, levels would have to be decreased significantly to give some lesser pokemon a chance (Unown :p). In the end, an idea that has merit, but one that would cause even more endless debate than the current tier system.

Sandwich, you're probably right, now that I think about it. Doing that would probably be imbalanced in it's own way. Still, I think it'd be funny to see NU pokemon fighting equally (well...sorta) against ubers.

i think this was implemented in netbattle when you used challenge cup, kyogre would be lvl 54 while ratatta would be lvl 100

Huzah, yet another tier topic in an environment where noone even knows what the heck UU or NU will be. Now we'll have to arbitarily assign a level to pokemon based on a perception of their power.

I look forward to Lv 100 Light Ball Pikachu's raping everything.

Challenge Cup and level Balance in NB sort of have this, but we've nothing for DP pokemon and quite frankly I never liked the arbitrariness of it.

Don't we have some sort of rule on tier topics, maybe that people are implored to read or something?

... If I remember correctly, the rule was more or less no discussion of the current status of tiers, such as what Pokemon belong in which tier and such. This is suggesting an idea that can be implemented in the future once we have a better knowledge of tiers regarding a "no tier" environment in which most, if not all, Pokemon would have an equal footing. It suggested nothing about any other tiers in itself - notice that there was no real discussion of what Pokemon would be at certain levels, and such? On that note, of course Pikachu would never be level 100. Perhaps Magikarp or Feebas, but definitely not Pikachu. And judging by the premise, I believe it will go on stats, with stat altering items decreasing levels.

Uh right because stats tell the whole tale; that would put ARCANINE above many other pokemon that have lower base stats than it but far better redeeming move pools.

Right.

The day when Arcanine (Stats 550) is tiered worth above Swampert (Stats 535) is a day when a "point tier system based solely on stats" fails.

You forgot the almighty Entei, Articuno, and Moltres at 600 Base stats.
