Introduction
Hey, so I just registered on smogon. I have been using smogon and bulbapedia in tandem for some time. Most of my pokemon time is spent playing in-game, since, because of where I live (Northern Ireland), there aren't exactly many other competitive pokemon players. I created this team with a mind to battling a friend of mine. I confess that I'm not exactly up to date on the whole ev thing. You might call it an understanding still in progress. Still, I have created this team with an eye to competitive battling. Enjoy!
The Team
These days it seems like I create a team a minute haha, usually around a few core pokemon that I choose for no other reason than that they're seriously cool and have decent stats.
I began with Machamp. In the days of yore, back in generation one, Machamp was kind of the unobtainable grail, at least for me. Gen II saw the inclusion of DynamicPunch, every players nightmare, made shadow, thanks to the accuracy rating, but just recently, to my amazement, I found that Machamp can sport a one hundred percent accurate dynamic punch with its no guard ability and so, Machamp became my new muse.
Another holy grail, Milotic, became my number two. A great ability in the form of marvel scale coupled with that awesome aesthetic and Milotic simply had to have a place on my team. Also, check out that really cool sleep talk set, a great way of utilising its ability to make it into a wall.
Playing Pokemon Black before I ever played platinum, I distinctly recall having my ass handed to me by a certain Cynthia, a Garchomp wielding ex - champion. Suffice to say that horror turned to obsession and I reacted with much exclaiming of, I want a Garchomp! Hahaha. The loss can probably be attributed to Garchomp's amazing speed, my Hydreigon didn't stand a chance. Of course Garchomp is also a powerhouse, that meaty attack, not to mention decent defences and amazing hp. Thus, Garchomp became the third.
A look into ghosts revealed its arguable king, Mismagius. Blistering Speed and special stats coupled with a movepool boasting such highlights as pain split sealed the deal. Since Generation three ghosts have just got really cool. My next project may well look at the construction of a ghost team in Pokemon Black.
The new branches of the Eevee tree saw me enraptured by Leafeon, a pokemon with a great look, amazing attack and defence as well as good speed. Also, you simply have to love the power of leaf blade and lets not forget that its a great baton passer.
Noticing a drought in fundamental types on my team (i.e. fire, electric, grass) I chose an old favourite, Arcanine. It helped of course that new life has been breathed into Arcanine since generation one - see morning sun. Also, Arcanine is one of those great dog types that can sport a variety of attacks such as crunch and thunder fang.
And so, the rundown. Unlike other threaders I have ignored ev's (forgive my lack of knowledge) and inserted type criteria into the below list.

In sum, this is an attempt at a balanced team. I have included, fighting, water, dragon, ground, ghost, grass and fire types. The weaknesses here include, Bug, Dark, Dragon, Electric, Fire, Grass, Ghost, Ice, Flying, Psychic; the only overlap Ice. Class wise I have include a baton passer, a tank, a wall, a stallbreaker and two sweepers. There are four attack centric pokemon and two special attack centric pokemon. I have included stat boosting moves, entry hazards, priority moves and status affect moves.
Final Note
This is probably where I should plead for a good response haha. Its my first thread and I don't really know how members will react to it. In saying all of that, I am more than open to feedback and constructive criticism.
