Team Building Process:
Salamence- 4th gen's monster that now with Garchomp gone stands a much better chance of making a name for himself. Also, hes a great mixed sweeper which I really wanted to help from being shut down by SkarmBliss or FerroCent combinations.
Gengar- One of the greats from the very beginning. I wanted someone that most people know and would think they're able to predict, but run a different but effective set and gengar works well for that.
Mienshao- Great with Fake Out, Hi Jump Kick, and U-turn with regenerator. I loved how it always OHKO'd ferrothorn with Hi Jump Kick. Thats a main reason I wanted him here.
Metagross- I needed a steel to wall dragon attacks and hit back, so i figured metagross would do a great job being able to get up an agility and hit back with a huge meteor mash.
Latias- I didnt want to be like everyone else and use Latios, so i went with latias for a nice calm mind sweeper, it gave me two dragons but i didnt see it as too much trouble at first.
Scrafty- I wanted a physical tank that could also hit hard and I'd heard some people talking about scrafty so I wanted to give him a whirl, plus with fighting dark combination he has great typing to wall sandstorm teams.
Rotom-W- I replaced Latias with this cause I wanted a bulky water and Rotom's ability to take hits was just what I wanted, especially with his ability to spread status as well.
Heatran- Replaced scizor as the steel and was amazing because of the steel typing, immunity to fire, ability to set up stealth rocks, and being a great check to Excadrill if he still has his balloon.
Terrakion- Replaced Mienshao and was amazing for the team, he hits hard and fast which i needed.
The Team:
Salamence (F) @ Lum Berry Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Lonely Nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Dragon Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
The first pokemon I put on this team was Salamence. I always knew of him as one of the great wall breakers and I definitely wanted him to be here. He is amazing at coming in on scizor as he always takes two bullet punchs and kills with fire blast. Can also come in on excadrill. After a dragon dance or two he can also tear through entire teams, barring the rare Quagsire.
Gengar (F) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Counter
- Destiny Bond
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
Gengar is absolutely amazing at taking out Machamp, Conkeldurr, Tyranitar, really any powerful physical sweeper that thinks they can easily take him out. Then he kills whoever they bring in next with destiny bond letting me go up one pretty easily. Also able to kill Skarmory's with thunderbolt. Some people dont send in ferrothorn because they think all Gengars run focus blast so that reprieve is nice.
Heatran (F) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 SDef
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Pulse
Amazing addition to the team. He absorbs all fire attacks and dragon attacks, and bullet punches and can hit back. The HP Grass is there to take out pokes like Quagsire, Gastrodon, and any other bulky waters that give me problems.
Terrakion @ Life Orb
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance
After a swords dance he tears through teams. Outspeeds not max speed Lati@s which has come in handy many times, as well as putting a huge dent into whatever the opponent sends it to take the Close Combat after I send Terrakion in to counter Ferrothorn.
Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Pain Split
- Thunderbolt
- Hydro Pump
Great Immunities and resistances. Not sure about the nature, might go with max Sp. Def just to take Draco Meteors and thunderbolts better. He carries t-Wave because my team has major troubles dealing with faster threats like Tornadus, Thundurus, Latios, Starmie etc.
Scrafty (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Drain Punch
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
Without a doubt the MVP of the team. Shed Skin is absolutely amazing as I switch into walls and they think they can stall me as I set up 2 or 3 DDances. Scizor cant beat him, Excadrill cant beat him, TTar cant beat him. Conkeldurr is really the only thing he has trouble taking on. Gliscor gets set up on all day then OHKO'd with Ice Punch. Honestly the best on the team.
What do you think? Im open to most suggestions, and I really do not want to add Ferrothorn as I want to be a smidge different than most people. Any Ev changes would be useful as well. Thanks.
