Noob team!

This is my first competitive team here, i tried to make it well balanced, but i can see it's not quite right. I tried it in PO and I won 14 out of 30, i couldn't even make it to the half :/
I accept any sugestion and constructive critics (btw, english is not my lenguage, sorry for the mistakes in my writting). Willing to replace some pokes. But I do not want any legendaries, i'll accept a Heatran or Rotom, but i think those are the only ones i'd take.

Team building:

I wanted to try Gliscor, since I never get to use one and I always have trouble fighting it. Gliscor was taking the leading spot, taunting everyone slower than he,STAB EQ and setting SR.

Next thing i needed was something that resist both Scor weaknesses, so Starmie jump to the scene, she doesn't mind taking a few water or ice moves, also making a good Rapid Spinner and a good special sweeper with BoltBeam and STAB surf.

I get Magnezone on the team for various reasons, first, to take electric attacks aimed at starmie, to trap any steel type (killing it with HP fire), and because Zone is cool and one of my fav pokes.

Rotom was added also for help to Starmie, if the attacks aimed at her are grass type instead of electric. Also make a good spin blocker, i think the only RSpinner that gives him much problems is donphan, but not pretty sure about it.

For my physical sweeper, I wanted something really powerfull, so I went over with Machamp. Sub+3 attacks was my favorite set, avoiding getting any status, and hitting hard with DynamicPunch, also recieving any bug/dark attacks aimed at Starmie or Rotom.

Finally, my revenge killer, Scizor, who had prove to be the best of the team, revkilling with bullet punch, or trapping with pursuit, or just escouting with U-turn.

In PO, Zone, Machamp and Scizor are the ones that won my 14 battles, they're the best of the team, but I need a better team, at least one to win 16 out of 30 XD

Please rate and give me some advices.

In depth:

477.png

Gliscor @ Focus Sash
Evs: 252HP 4Def 252Spe
Ability: Sand Veil
Nature: Jolly
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Ice Fang

As i said before, it's a common lead set with standard Evs, with focus sash I prevent from dying of an unexpected Ice Beam as I taunt and set up SR, EQ for STAB and Ice Fang for another gliscor leads.

121.png

Starmie @ Life Orb
Evs: 252SpAtk 4 SpDef 252Spe
Ability: Natural Cure
Nature: Timid
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
BoltBeam for special sweeping and hitting common pokes, I choose surf over Hydro Pump because i rather accuracy than power, and with life orb i get a pretty nice STAB surf, RS for getting rid of anything my opponent lay on me.

467.png

Magnezone @ Air Balloon
Evs: 4Atk 252SpAtk 252Spe
Ability: Magnet Pull
Nature: Naive
- Thunderbolt
- HP Fire
- Flash Cannon
- Explosion
My steel trapper, killing 'em with HP, getting rid of flying and water with Thunderbolt, and Flash Cannon for STAB, Explosion is for leaving the game nicely, taking another poke with me. Air balloon for those ground moves who would greatly damage it. Although I have big problem facing Heatran... Don't know what to do there.
front.png

Rotom-H @ Choice Specs
Evs: 252SpAtk 4Def 252Spe
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
- Overheat
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
Rotom has worked well against Seissmic Toss Blissey, using Trick to change Choice Specs, then switch to Scizor or Machamp to finish the job. Overheat for Pseudo STAB, and Thunderbolt and SHadow Ball for real STAB, I truly don't like much Rotom, but that's why I'm posting my team, right? so you guys could help me?

68.png

Machamp @ Leftovers
Evs: 128HP 252Atk 128Spe
Ability: No Guard
Nature: Adamant
- Substitute
- DynamicPunch
- Stone Edge
- Payback

Pretty standard Sub+3 Machamp, but for some reason is one poke to be feared, with DPunch for STAB+Confusion after Sub, it's a 2HKO on almost anything i've faced, along with Stone Edge for coverage, and Payback for those ghost and psychic types, although I'd DPunch the psychic types.

212.png

Scizor @ Choice Band
Evs: 252Atk 128Def 128SpDef
Ability: Technician
Nature: Adamant
- Bullet Punch
- U-Turn
- Pursuit
- Roost
My Revenge Killer, it's STAB Bullet Punch with Focus Band it's every Scizor's best weapon, with powerful U-turn for scouting and killin psychic an dark types, and Pursuit to trap ghost trying to annoy me, superpower it's just for killing Blissey an Heatran i think. Not pretty sure. I won 12 of the 14 battles with Scizor, it can stay long with the Evs spread in it's defense.

That's prettu much my team. Thanks for reading my first thread : )

First things first, if this is a 4th gen team, then the Air Balloon can't be used on Magnezone, as it was introduced in BW. On the set you have, a Choice Scarf would fit nicely, allowing it to trap Steel types just the same as well as to revenge kill things like Infernape and unboosted Dragonite.

On Scizor, Superpower would work much more effectively than Roost, as the CB stops it from switching moves. If you want a bulky trapper/scout, a set with heavy Sp. Def and Health EVs allows it to trap Gengar, Latias, etc, and to revenge kill more fragile sweepers, although it loses a bit of power.

Finally, Gliscor leads are pretty uncommon, so U-turn could be more useful than Ice Fang to get away from faster Taunting leads.

Anyways, just my two cents. Have a good one.

You have no way to deal with strong fire types. For example, LO Infernape OHKOs or 2HKOs your whole team, so nothing can switch into it. Even Starmie can only switch in once thanks to his low defenses and lack of recovery. Kingdra can tank Fire-type hits all day, and can even set up. Test one over Rotom or Starmie. My personal favorite Kingrda set is the ChestoRest variant:

Spr_4d_230.png

Kingdra@Chesto Berry
Adamant Nature, 144HP, 160 Att, 60 SpD, 164 Spe
Dragon Dance
Rest
Outrage
Waterfall

The strategy is simple; Dragon Dance until you're about to get killed, then Rest back to full health. from there, use your two attacking moves and mop the floor with your opponent. Try not to use Outrage until the opponent's Steels are gone, lest they halt your sweep.

Also find a new item for Magnezone; Air Balloon isn't in Gen IV. However, I'd actually get rid of 'Zone since you already have Steels well covered. Zapdos keeps your Electric STAB, but is much more versatile. I know he's a Legendary, but he's not overpowered at all. I think you'll like him. I reccomend the Special Attacker set:

145.png

Zapdos@Leftovers/Life Orb
Timid Nature, 4 Def, 252SpA, 252Spe ll 22Att IV, 30 Def IV
Thunderbolt
Heat Wave
HP Ice/Grass
Roost

Thunderbolt is for STAB,while Heat Wave nails Grass-Types that resist Electric. The Hidden Power is mostly to hit Ground-types; Ice has the added advantage of detroying Gliscor, Flygon, and Dragonite, while Grass is your best bet for Swampert. Roost is standard recovery, as even with no investment, Zapdos' defenses are still solid. I prefer Leftovers as the item, since 'Dos has some serious staying power, but a Life Orb makes him even more powerful than he already is.

If you really don't want to use Zapdos (but seriously, he's a great fit for your team), Jolteon is a grood choice as well. He provides a fast pokemon capable of taking out many pokemon who are problematic, such as the aforementioned LO Infernape.

Sorry the sets took so long. I hope they help!

Hi alexs,

This is a very awesome team you got there! Of the recent teams I've rated I can say its the least stall weak, which is impressive. It does have a few offensive troubles, but I will try to patch those up.

I'll start off by mentioning your offensive weaknesses, which are: Celebi, Agility Empoleon, DD Gyarados, Infernape, CM Jirachi, Heatran(mostly CS), Rotom, and Shaymin. I really hate making the suggestion I'm about to make considering most bog standard teams have this pokemon, but I suggest using Choice Scarf Rotom(W) over Choice Specs Rotom(H). The set is Rotom(W) @ Choice Scarf | Timid Nature | 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe | Thunderbolt / Shadow Ball / Hydro Pump / Trick. It will check an incredible amount of pokemon for you, including Celebi(without CM), Agility Empoleon, DD Gyarados, Infernape, and Heatran(not SpDefensive). Now to finish up the last three threats I'm going to suggest changing the most replaceable member on your team, which is... Machamp. Machamp is VERY awesome considering he wrecks stall and gets hardly OHKO'ed, but you don't have paralysis and would appreciate a more fit pokemon for your team. I suggest using DD Dragonite to hit CM Jirachi, Rotom, and Shaymin hard. I'm going to hand you two sets, so you can test both and choose the one you think is better for this team. The sets are: Dragonite @ Lum Berry OR Yache Berry | Adamant OR Jolly Nature | 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe | Dragon Dance / Outrage / Earthquake / Fire Punch, and Dragonite @ Leftovers | Adamant Nature | 252 HP / 56 Atk / 200 Spe OR just go max | Dragon Dance / Roost / Dragon Claw / Earthquake. The first one matches the offensive prowess Machamp had to offer, while the second abuses the fact you have a Magnezone on your team much more and sacrifices its power for duration.

Now for the nitpicks, I suggest using the following Scizor, which is: Scizor @ Choice Band | Adamant Nature | 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe | Bullet Punch / Superpower / Pursuit / U-turn. Roost on your a choiced pokemon isn't very useful, and can bite you in the ass during battle if you do try to use it. Also, Air Balloon is a BW move, so I recommend changing it to Leftovers. You might want to try Substitute over Flash Cannon to scout your opponent's pokemon, but that is mostly preference. Well, I think I'm done dude.

I hope this helps, and good luck!
