VGC Not Hailroom is back!

Hey everyone I'm back with this team. If you look at this team and the one before there is a very big change. So I thought it was about time to bring it back to the forums. I changed three mons so let's start!

493.png

Sailor moon (Cresselia) @ Mental Herb
Ability: Levitate
Level: 50
EVs: 236 HP / 204 Def / 68 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Safeguard
- Helping Hand
Cress is my trick room setter. Since she is my only one, I bring her every game and lead with her. If I start a match I immediately click cress before anything else. Safeguard can really be a savor to my team. Protecting it from status coming my way. Helping hand is extremely useful late game. And only late game. When Cress and one mon are left is the time I hit helping hand. And surprisingly it's really helpful. Helps me perform the kills I couldn't get before. I think cress is a mon that might not be changed, unless some new much better setter comes along.

Nifty (Scrafty) (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Intimidate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 124 Atk / 64 Def / 68 SpD
Brave Nature
- Fake Out
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
- Taunt
Scrafty was a big part of my other team. Now his role has lessened but is still there. Fake out is there for other fake out users and breloom. Since I don't have goggles on cress faking out breloom is all I can do to stop it. Taunt is perfect for shutting down status users of safe room cannot be used. I think the spotlight of scrafty's moves is taunt. That may be strange, but I have a reason. Taunt completely shuts down aegislash, which is the biggest threat to my team.

I'm a fungi (Amoonguss) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Rage Powder
- Spore
- Sludge Bomb
- Protect
This is the first new member, amoongus. He does what scrafty does, but a thousand times better. First he is more bulky and can take more hits, also regenerator heals him. Two he is better for my team typing wise. Stoping a big threat, which used to be fighting and fairy. Third he puts things to sleep. Another plus is he can't be put to sleep via powders like abomasnow. I chose sludge bomb over gigs drain because I have little use with taking out water rocks and grounds. Sludge also helps with my fairy weakness. I gave him rocky helmet to punish kangs.

Humble Bumble (Abomasnow) @ Abomasite
Ability: Snow Warning
Level: 50
EVs: 208 HP / 12 Def / 228 SpA / 60 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Blizzard
- Energy Ball
- Ice Shard
- Protect
Here he is. The man of the show. ABOMASNOW!!! First I'll start with his weather capabilities. Since he has weather for little and mega forms, he almost always wins a weather war. One thing I want to ask is, should I run hail over ice shard. Hail would really help when the opponent switches out there weather setter. It's really hard to predict when they'll bring it back in. Usually it's after I switch, mega or die, which causes me to stall in little form. Hail could change that so I can mega without worry. Also with hail I don't have the 5 turn timer for blizzards. Ice shard does help finish off foes like talonflame. I'm not done with weather though. Hail is known to be the worst weather, but my favorite part about it is: stopping the rage that is barely living. Now whenever the opponent's mon just barely survived hail finishes it off nicely for me.

NEW OXI CLEAN WASHER (Rotom-Wash) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Def / 212 SpA
Quiet Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect
Woah, am I using a scrub mon such as rotom-wash. I don't know a mon that could fit here much better. Most people try to find power partners for doubles. What I tried to do was make a threatening trio. Obama, wash, and tran work together very well as partners. Hydro covers Obama's Fire and rock weaknesses and Tran's ground weakness. Thunderbolt helps with obama's flying, though he covers it well himself, and Tran's water. The one type I didn't account for was fighting. Wisp is great for crippling threatening mons.

490.png

Watch the Trancar PLZ (Heatran) @ Shuca berry
Ability: Flash Fire
Level: 50
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Heat Wave
- Earth Power
- Flash cannon
- Protect
This heatran was sub. For one terrible match. The worst thing happened. I can't click sub. Mobile blocks it with text. So I have to go without a sub. Heatran's ability, flash fire, really helps with mons with heatwave because they won't fire it off if it means flash fire boost. That really helps aboma's fire weakness along with earth power. Heatwave is typical, but it helps with wash's grass weakness. Flash cannon was sub. But it helps a lot with aboma's Rock weakness and is another fairy killer. My biggest weakness is fighting, I could run hidden power physic, but I don't think it's necessary.

I really do love this new section I thought of. What I'm wondering now is my strategy. Maybe I should get rid of the team if it's really bad, but I don't know. When I play this team, picking the members goes like this: click cress, choose amoongus, but if there is breloom, aegislash, or fake out, I'll choose scrafty, last I choose between the last three, depending on how welly they can take out the opposing team. I have no idea wether that is a really good thing or really bad, please tell me.

I love TR, and this team looks pretty good. Only a few weaknesses I can see, the main is Escavalier, which can run through this team, but I wouldn't worry about that. Haven't seen Rotom-W under TR before but if it works that's all good.

Thank you for commenting. I never even thought of escaliveir as a threat. I mean I used one in my doubles team. I'll try to add something to patch that slightly.

Oh I really don't think it's a problem....although overcoat does stop rage powder+heat wave...I reckon just will-o-wisp it with Rotom.

should you run quick guard or follow me in case fake out users try to aim at cresselia?

also you may watch out for mega camerupt as he is a slower trick room sweeper, slower than amoonguss and he will most likelly be carring heat wave and earth power.

Quick guard may be a perfect addition. I'm thinking I'll give it to scrafty. But I don't know wether to replace drain punch or knock off. I'll think I'm replacing drain punch because knock off is good for knocking off items. Oh and it'll help give scrafty a bit more spotlight. thanks a lot.

Hey there, really cool team man. I remember rating a very similar team in the RMT room, was that you haha? Well regardless, I do have a few things I suggest you change to. For starters, I suggest you change Amoonguss's spread to amr97's spread of 188 HP / 164 Def / 156 SpD with a Sassy Nature. The spread that you are using was made for early ORAS when powerhouses like physical Mega Salamence and Mega Metagross were one of the most popular megas. Nowadays, Mega Gardevoir and special Mega Salamence are much more popular so you need a spread that can survive against those behemoths. This spread allows Amoonguss to have an 87.5% chance to survive a Psychic from Modest Mega Gardevoir, Hyper Voice from Mega Salamence, and Specs Draco Meteor from Modest Hydreigon. You also have Intimidate support from Scrafty so there isn't a need to invest so much into Defense.

  • 252+ SpA Mega Gardevoir Psychic vs. 188 HP / 156+ SpD Amoonguss: 186-218 (87.3 - 102.3%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO
  • 252 SpA Aerilate Mega Salamence Hyper Voice vs. 188 HP / 156+ SpD Amoonguss: 132-156 (61.9 - 73.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • 252+ SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Draco Meteor vs. 188 HP / 156+ SpD Amoonguss: 162-192 (76 - 90.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
  • 252+ Atk Parental Bond Mega Kangaskhan Double-Edge vs. 188 HP / 164 Def Amoonguss: 178-213 (83.5 - 100%) -- 0.4% chance to OHKO
  • -1 252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Zen Headbutt vs. 188 HP / 164 Def Amoonguss: 144-170 (67.6 - 79.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

I also recommend switching Abomasnow's ability from Snow Warning to Soundproof. Mega Abomasnow already has Snow Warning, so it isn't needed on regular Abomasnow too. Soundproof allows Abomasnow to switch into notable moves like Hyper Voice from Sylveon, Gardevoir, and Salamence, since Abomasnow is immune to them.

Finally I suggest you change Rotom-W to Jellicent with a spread of 252 HP / 60 Def / 92 SpA / 100 SpD / 4 Spe and a Sassy Nature. Alternatively, you can use the same spread except with a Calm Nature and 15 Spe IVs which allows Jellicent to outspeed Quiet 0 Spe Aegislash by 1 point, thus allowing Jellicent to hit it with a Shadow Ball while Aegislash is in Blade Forme under Trick Room, but that is assuming that your opponent is using Quiet Aegislash, so I'll leave that choice to your preference. Your team is a fullroom team, but it only has one setter; and while Cresselia is an amazing setter, you essentially have to bring it in every game, since your team can't function without Trick Room, which makes it much easier for your opponent to predict what Pokemon you'll be bringing and counter that. By adding in another setter, your opponent will have to consider which setter you're bringing to the game, which can cause them a lot of trouble if they predict wrong (such as bringing Virizion for Jellicent, but you brought Cresselia instead which beats Virizion 1v1). It's also much better in a bo3 situation, since your opponent will have to predict which setter you're bringing. Jellicent hits pretty much everything that Rotom-W hit, while also being immune to Fighting-types, which is crucial considering you're pretty weak to them. It is also immune to Fake Out too, so you don't have to always lead with Scrafty + setter to ensure getting off Trick Room. The above spread allows Jellicent to survive a Dark Pulse from Specs Hydreigon and make Landorus-T's Earthquake a 3HKO.

  • 252+ SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 100+ SpD Jellicent: 174-206 (84 - 99.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
  • 252+ Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 60 Def Jellicent: 93-109 (44.9 - 52.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Otherwise, your team looks great man! Hope I helped and good luck with the team!!! :]

I've got to say that's a pretty impressive rate :)
Just want to add this calc in to the amoonguss spread since you've pretty much covered everything else:

  • 252+ SpA Choice Specs Hydreigon Fire Blast vs. 188 HP / 156+ SpD Amoonguss: 182-216 (85.4 - 101.4%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

Wow thanks a lot for that. This really increases my freedom of choice. Though you didn't say it, I think you want me to change ice shard to hail. Now that I don't have double snow, I don't win every weather war. So hail will be very helpful. I really like the jellicent he is a perfect addition. Thank you so much for your rate. So sorry it took my some time to reply. I had a crazy movie project last night.
