Ok, so basically, zard is honestly too weak to properly justify breaking stuff without proper hazard support, so here's proper Hazard Support, now with the advantage of turning certain water and rock types into complete setup fodder (read, not actually, but it either threatens them out, or gets up hazards for free). With all the hazards in the universe, you even get a slight chance to KO slowbro with a +1 z-fly. Yes, this restricts the rest of the team a tad, but Hazards are really nice for a sweeper that is a tad lacking in power.

Hitmonlee supports charizard through both spin support and inviting in things like Slowbro, Gardbodor and Altaria to remove potential leftovers/rocky helmet with Knock Off.
Choice Scarf gives speed control, Stone Edge is helpful to hit things like Z-move Delphox and Magmortar
Whimisoctt is a nice form of hazard control that beats common rockers like Druddigon and Rhydon 1v1, Grass Knot is here to 2HKO Steelix which would otherwise get up free rocks and allows you to defog on the subsequent turn its forced out. It hits bulky water types for a little less damage as most of them are actually p light, but defog whims is a still a great partner for zard and synergies well with it otherwise.

I feel like DD Zard's biggest problems are pokemon like Rhydon and Slowbro who can both live a +1 SSSS and check it pretty easily. Samurott is able to break down these types of cores and gives the team a psuedo set-up spam element.
ok so imo biggest problem to zard is hazards, due to its double weakness to rocks but also zard really needs to keep hazards on the opposing field to pressure as much as possible. nominating ice beam altaria as in addition to ease the match up against opposing altaria and def druddigon which are both pretty annoying for zard which has to use its z move and then rely to fly as a flying stab. as well as being two of the better hazard control/setter respectively. Altaria also beat Slowbro, Slowking, Samurott, Emboar, and can soft check Heliolisk if needed, thanks to its natural bulk/ability/toxic slot which allows it to weaken/cripple kinda easily most zard check. it can also bait rhydon which wants to sr for free and gets crippled for the rest of the game. altaria also attract every single Cryogonal ever which Zard can set up on kinda easily (be careful abt toxic tho) 16 speed is mostly to outspeed others alty and ice beam before they roost to get that x4 at anytime.
