NU is the perfect tier to use a hailstorm lineup, since there are great ice types in NU. This team is modeled after one of my least favorite soccer teams in England...Chelsea FC
Snover
Nature: Mild
Item:Focus Sash
Ability:Snow Warning (Obviously)
EV Spread: 252 SpecAtt, 252 Speed, 4HP
Moveset: Blizzard, Energy Ball, Protect, Toxic*
Snover is just like the unspoken leader of Chelsea...Frank Lampard. Lampard has the the ability to create opportunities for others, while still being able to score the ball himself. Snover is just like this. Snover sets up the permanent hailstorm (obviously). The purpose of this Snover is to try to go at the opponent right away. Blizzard takes care of Gligar leads, and energy ball can dent Pokemon not hit by Blizzard. Toxic/Protect are there just in case its an offensive lead and you might wanna get some damage done to it with a toxic and switch into this teams staller (These two slots can be changed for your teams needs/wants of course). I gave the EV's to SpecAtt and Speed to be able to at least dent a lead before being KO'd, also why I gave it the Focus Sash...to sneak in that second attack against slower leads.
Walrein
Nature: Bold
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Ice Body
EV Spread: 220 HP, 240 Defense, 48 SpecAtt
Moveset: Blizzard, Substitute, Toxic, Surf
The one the only, the bad sport...John Terry. Whenever I see John Terry on TV, i want to hit him. He's an annoying jerk. With that being said, I want people to have the most annoying time possible when seeing this Walrein. With high EV's in defensive and HP, it boast a solid wall. Sub + Toxic to stall...since leftovers and ice body help raise its HP. Blizzard is Walrein's primary attack, but Surf is there to be a solid sub breaking poke if needed to.
Aritcuno
Nature: Bold
Item: Leftovers
Ability: pressure
EV Spread: 252 HP, 252 Speed, 4 SpecAtt
Moveset: Air Cutter, Blizzard, Roost, Toxic
Fernando Torres doesn't fit well in Chelsea's play, since he has deviated from what he once did. In my mind, he no longer poses the same attacking threat. Articuno is seen as strictly a staller, so why not sneak in an extra attack instead of a sub, just like Torres was previously seen as a threat.. Blizzard being its primary power house attack, will be spammed in the hailstorm, and why not. Toxic and Roost to stall/heal, if that scenario would come up. Air Cutter is the move not usually seen coming. If a Hitmonchan rocking t-punch comes in to KO Articuno...don't fear Air Cutter is their. Obviously not a high power move, but enough to finish of the pokes not KO'd by the blizzard without wasting the HP of blizzard, and risking getting KO'd by roosting/toxicing. EV's are there to make Articuno a little bulkier, while attempting to sneak in a first hit. Spec attack since Aircutter/Blizzard are both special.
Regice
Nature: Modest
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EV Spread: 252 HP, 252 SpecAtt, 4 Def
Moveset: Blizzard, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Thunder-wave
In my mind, Regice reminds me alot of Mike Essien. Essien isn't the fastest man out on the pitch...just like Regice isn't exactly the fastest pokemon out there...haha. So Regice posses the ability to throw in a sneak attack, why running balanced skills, just like Essien. Regice already runs a naturally high spec defensive, so no need to boost that. With a highly special attack moveset, i didn't feel bad giving it the modest (-attack) nature. The EV's are to give it a little more bulk, make it a great spec attacker, and giving defensive that extra 1 boost, whoop-dee-do. Now to the moveset...Blizzard obviously a must. Since Regice is bulky, he might be out on the pitch for awhile, so Ice Beam is there as a just in case. Thunderbolt to hit the few flyings that might switch in, and t-wave to try and get some lucky hax.
ON TO THE STRIKERS OF THE BLUES
Glaceon
Nature: Modest
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Snow Cloak
EV Spread: 252 SpecAtt, 252HP, 4 Speed
Moveset: Blizzard, Shadow Ball, Protect, Wish
The striking partner to Drogba...Nicola Anelka. He's no bait to open up Drogba...Anelka can get it done himself. Glaceon can too. Don't fear those Dusclops, especially when your rocking the Shadow Ball to try and KO it. Protect/Wish to boost up. Blizzard for the STAB/Sweep and try to finish things. Anelka doesn't get as much credit as Drogba, perhaps due to being more of a finesse scorer versus Drogba's sheer power and brutality. In this lineup, the hypothetical Anelka gets the credit he deserves.
Hitmonchan
Nature: Adamant
Item: Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
EV Spread: 252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
Moveset: Close Combat, Earthquake, Mach Punch, Fire Punch
The Man of the hour...Didier Drogba. The big bodied, power house striker. So of course, why not have a physical sweeper like Hitmonchan. The moveset is kinda self explanatory, CC and Mach Punch for the STAB, Earthquake to hit electric types, and Fire Punch to take care of steel types. EV's are made to get the kill, no BS...just like Drogba's playing style. He doesn't take as many dives, and he goes hard, just like this Hitmonchan. I guess you could switch out choice band, but IMO there is lack of a better item.
So there it is, my Pokemon team with Chelsea FC in mind. Go ahead and try it, it's a lot of fun, and very customizable. I'd love to hear changes made to this basic NU lineup
