INTRODUCTION
Hi Everyone ^_^. I am the (not)famous T-Tar_lover. For those of you that know me I am PM145 in showdown. I am most frequently found in Competitive Tutoring and NU rooms. I usually don't battle because I help people more often. I have been playing Pokemon since the day my mom bought Pokemon Diamond for me. I grew love for Pokemon since then. I play OU and Hackmons when i'm usually bored or tired. I decided to give NU a try and I loved it.
My friend DMV who became ranked #5 in the NU ladder using a Sand team inspired me to make a weather team in NU. I decided to create a RAIN Team. Rain, the weather of Water-types, is one of the four types of weather in Pokemon. Unlike sandstorm and sun, rain does not have a weather inducer (Drizzle) in NU. However, rain does has some great effects. According to the article, "http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/bw-guide-to-rain-in-nu-wip.3461345/", the effects of rain are:
Effects of Rain
- The power of Water-type moves is boosted by 50%.
- The power of Fire-type moves is reduced by 50%.
- The moves Thunder and Hurricane has 100% accuracy.
- The move SolarBeam has a base power of 60.
- The move Weather Ball becomes a Water-type move and has a Base Power of 100 instead of 50.
- The moves Moonlight, Morning Sun, and Synthesis only recover 25% of the users full health.
- Pokemon with the Swift Swim ability have their Speed doubled.
- Pokemon with the ability Dry Skin regain 12.5% of their max HP each turn.
- Pokemon with the Hydration ability have all of status effects healed at the end of each turn.
- Pokemon with the Rain Dish ability regain 6.25% of their max HP each turn.
- The Pokemon Castform changes form and becomes a Water-type Pokemon
I seem to be going on and on with my introduction. So I will take the advice of my friend Emerald, "keep it short, sweet, and to the point".
Anyway on to my team:
Team Overview

First, I was looking through DMV's Threat list. I came upon Rain dance Uxie. Uxie can set up Stealth rocks/rain dance and is pretty bulky.
Next, a rain team needs a sweeper to abuse rain and the most used rain abuser/sweeper that I know is ludicolo.
Then I wanted a set up sweeper. My friend Silver-Tail suggested using Omastar because it has a decent base 115 Special Attack stat and it has access to one of the best boosting moves in the game, Shell Smash. With swift swim makes Omaster a potent threat in the rain.
After looking and testing the team, I decided to add scarf virizon and evolite doublade. Virizon as my revenger killer and doublade as my physical wall.
Next, I need another rain settler and i wanted something to resist grass. So i chose Rotom-Fan.
This team looked great and did great while laddering. However I just heard the news Doublade and Virizon just got banned. This banning messed up my team and I needed to find replacements for scarf virizon and evolite doublade. So with a little bit of help from NU room, I came up suggestions for those two pokes. Scarf Sawk and klinklang.
But as I was testing it, it wasn't doing well on the ladder and I kept on getting frustrated. Sawk did help sometimes but not as much as virizon. Klinklang on the other hand did not do much with its barren movepool. Then another good friend of mine named Gradeus who has a pretty similar team as mine suggested that i should change klinklang for miltank. Thank you Gradeus :D.
Then I had this unique battle with one of my friends. Sawk couldn't do enough damage on Gourgeist and instead was burned which costed me the match. I then realized that Gurdurr would've done more damage, love burns and is bulkier than sawk. However changing Sawk for Gurdurr means losing one aspect, speed. But who needs more speed when you have rain and swift swim together.
