NU Offense Team

This team led me to an 12/5 record and an 1183 ELO on the NU ladder, which isn't that great, which is why I need some rates. I never understood why people posted teams that peaked #1 or whatever on here, as teams like mine generally need the rate more. But i digress, this team that i can't think of a name for for the life of me.

This team's goal is to control hazards and slowly weaken the other team with smart switches and attacks until I find an opening and go for a sweep. Many of my Pokemon are capable of taking out full teams or just 3-4 Pokemon quickly.

archeops.jpg

Archeops @ Focus Sash
Ability: Defeatist
EVs: 252 Spd / 248 HP / 4 SAtk
Hasty Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Head Smash
- Earth Power

Lead Archeops gives me instant hazard control and momentum. Its goal is to stop any taunts or opposing Stealth Rocks with its own taunt, set up Stealth Rock, and hopefully faint the opposing lead with either Head Smash for brute force or Earth Power for taking out all of NU's Physically bulky Rock type leads.

Magmortar (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Vital Spirit
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Mild Nature
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast

Magmortar is a great lure for bulky Poison types like Muk, which otherwise give my team a little bit of trouble. It runs the basic lure set with Earthquake and is great at taking out slower, bulkier threats. However, it often ends up as dead weight against faster teams, getting outsped and often fainted.

feraligatr.jpg

GATR TIME (Feraligatr) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Ice Punch
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake

Once again, generic uncreative set. I run basic Dragon Dance Feraligatr with Lum Berry, as the berry has often bought me an extra turn to 3HKO something bulky whose first response is to status me. Feraligatr is my first big win condition. If i can get Feraligatr set up unscathed, things will die, exposing even more holes in the opposing teams.

tangela.jpg

Tangela (M) @ Eviolite
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 Spd
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Synthesis
- Substitute

Definitely the most underrated Pokemon in NU. Tangela has saved me from 2v1s, 3v1s, and even a 4v1 once if my memory serves me. When played well, this thing is unkillable physically, and is pretty bulky specially, especially with two healing moves. Giga Drain is extremely powerful when hitting the right Pokemon, and Hidden Power Ground takes care of just about everything Giga Drain doesn't. Substitute lets me play mind games with Sucker Punch and status users.

mesprit.jpg

Mesprit @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Healing Wish
- Dazzling Gleam
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball

Mesprit is an attacker that brings coverage for three types I did not have coverage for before. Many games before Mesprit I wished I had something with Fairy or Psychic coverage, and Mesprit has saved me a few times hitting things with those types as their only weakness. Healing wish is also good for bringing a weakened teammate back to full health and is my team's only form of cleric.

pyroar.jpg

Pyroar (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Def
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Hyper Voice
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Dark Pulse

Pyroar is my cleaner and revenge killer. Whether it be a sweeper running rampant, or a weakened enemy team, Pyroar can take it out. Because of this, I gave Pyroar as much coverage as I could get for it. Hidden Power Electric hits many threats that normally can take all of Pyroar's moves for some unexpected damage, and the rest of the moves are just like normal.

So yeah, that's my team. Hopefully you guys can help make this team a little more than just decent.

Hey there this is a cool team, but it is insanely weak to hazards. Stealth Rocks take down 25% off of half of your entire team, which is an insane amount. I mean legitimately, any hazards pressure you like crazy, so you absolutely need a method from removing them from the field. Tangela is also losing a lot of momentum, and doesn't pivot quite as well for such an offensive team, as there are better pivots in the tier such as Vileplume. Outside of these though, this is honestly a pretty ok team, it just has a few glaring flaws that make it so that it needs fixes across the board. I would however be wary of Electric and Water types, which while are checked by 1-2 things in your team, must be played around and predicted.

The main change I would make is to use Wallbreaker Defog Shiftry over Tangela. Not only does it give you a switch into dark types, but more importantly offers Defog, which is critical to the success of your team. It also decimates almost any defensive core in NU, allowing for Feraligatr to have a better time sweeping a team, and just maintains offensive pressure throughout the match. The removal of hazards means that stuff like your fire types and archeops will put in a lot more work, and spikes stacking shit won't cause too much trouble.

Minor Changes:
Archeops: I feel that Archeops is a bad SR user since it is easily knocked into Defeatist in that method and thus cannot take advantage of its massive selling point, its sheer offense. For this reason, I reccomend you switch to 3 Attacks Roost Archeops, which allows you to consistently avoid Defeatist and fire off insane attacks. The set is Stone Edge / Earth Power or Heat Wave / Knock Off or U-Turn / Roost w/ 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd Hasty.
Magmortar: 20 Atk / 236 SAtk / 252 Spd This is the correct MixMortar EV Spread, because it guarantees a 2hko on all baits. Also, Mild hurts your speed you want Rash.
Mesprit: As I have removed Stealth Rocks from Archeops, I feel you should use Offensive Stealth Rock Mesprit, which is far more reliable and still packs the same punch yours does, but with Stealth Rock > Shadow Ball and Leftovers > Life Orb.
Pyroar: Hidden Power Grass > Hidden Power Electric because Electric doesn't get as much coverage in NU, specifically against ground types such as Seismitoad. Dark Pulse is 100% useless as STAB Fire Blast is actually just as strong, so you want Flamethrower > Dark Pulse as a secondary STAB so that you can clean teams without worrying about a miss.
