NU-type core

Hey guys,

I've been playing this team for some time now and i must say it is pretty effective.
In NU, a psychic-normal-poison core is pretty common. It gets great defensive synergy. Thats when i thought, can't this be used in ou? And thats how this team is born.

Blissey (F) @ Leftovers Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Heal Bell
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled
- Stealth Rock

With the normal-type, it was an easy choice to go for blissey. I never really played it, because I dont really like stall that much, and it is a very predictable poke. But you cant look past its great capabilities. I let it be my stealth rocker, cause it often forces a switch against the special attackers. Softboiled instead of wish because my defensive pokemon kinda have their recovery in check. Heal bell for the statuses, and seismic toss for the solid damage. I dont really need toxic on it.

Slowbro (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 SDef
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Ice Beam
- Toxic

The second part of the core. A great psychic type and a bulky water as well. It can stall a lot of OU, and check one of the greatest threats: terrakion. With its great defense it complements blissey very well. With regenarator and slack off, it is very hard to kill. Scald and ice beam for damage and toxic to stall.

Venusaur (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 192 HP / 252 Def / 52 SDef / 12 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Sleep Powder
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Aah venasaur. The only times I used was as an offensive poke on sun teams. But with its poison type it finishes my 3-part core.

I choose for the subseed set with sleep powder. Come in on something slower. Put it to sleep, sub and then leech seed. The only negative thing i have to say, is that leech seed isn't really solid recovery. But is is enough a lot of the time.
And in sun, it gets an extra hp fire boost, + speed boost.

Terrakion @ Choice Band
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Quick Attack
- X-Scissor

After the stally part of the team, i really needed some offensive power. And what better poke than banded terrakion. Pretty much 2hkos everything in the game. Quick attack for priority ( I am a big fan of it). Not much else to say.

Scizor (M) @ Metal Coat
Trait: Technician
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Atk / 16 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Roost
- Swords Dance

Pretty standard set. Metal coat to bluff choice band. The only thing i might change here is, superpower over roost. The heatran switch in is painfully obvious sometimes. 16 Speed EV's to outspeed the standard scizor.

Dragonite (F) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- ExtremeSpeed
- Dragon Dance
- Fire Punch
- Outrage

And another powerhouse here. Dnite gives me a lot of wins and almost always a kill. Also here i might chance Espeed for earthquake, again because of heatran. But I really love the priority.

Threats:

I would say breloom. Really annoying with the spore...
Also ferrothorn. Unless i can get a CC of with terrakion, even hp fire from venasaur does only 60% or so.
And swords dance scizor... bug bite almost kills slowbro in one hit after setup and i have to hope venasaur can take the hit.

Okay, that was the RMT. If you have any tips or advice, please leave a comment.

Venusaur is relatively useless outside of Sun. Also, try to add sprites to your RMT to make it prettier. Anyway, you have no Spinner to get rid of Hazards. That means that Multiscale is wasted in most cases on your Dragonite. Slowbro is pretty good. Blissey gets 2HKOd by Alakazam's Psyshock and Venusaur is 1-2HKOd by the same Alakazam. As is Terrakion. Work on that.

Venusaur looks to be a bit of a dead weight on this team as it is easily removed outside of Sun and is also beaten by a load of stuff. In place of Venusaur, your team wouldn't mind some Spin support because you want to keep that Multiscale on Dnite intact for a late-game sweep. One last thing - no sand on your team and no attacks on Blissey means that Chansey is a better fit for the job of a special wall - it's bulkier on both ends of the spectrum.

When looking for a Poison type in OU, you can never go wrong with Tentacruel. Even outside Rain. It can spin, tank, and scout, and an overall amazing defensive poison type. It also helps with your little Scizor problem going on and provide spin support for Dragonite. So I would place it over Venusaur.
