O U ready to rate my team? (slowing at 1600, request advice)

Intro: So here's the deal. I took up competitive battling, with glee i might add, in october, with the release of pokemon x and y. After months and months of training, breeding, and combating this generations most prominent threats, i made a team that lasted for a long time. However, nothing lasts forever, and I scrapped it largely due to talonflame. Now, I'm trying to get back on my feet with a new team, one I created around a week ago and have had some success with. That doesn't mean this team is perfect, in fact it's far from it. My team contains glaring weaknesses to some common pokemon, and has its share of ineptitudes. Please help me hammer out something a little better, and try to keep in mind that I primarily battle on pokemon Y, and my showdown account hasn't been used in months. I will try battling there with this team and try to see post replays, if that would be helpful. Thanks for reading and critiquing!!! I REALLY appreciate it!

RATING IS CURRENTLY 1609, PROGRESS SLOWING. REQUESTING HELP

Constance (Charizard) @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Dance
- Thunder Punch

Ahhh, my dear constance. She's usually my MVP, packing amazing attack and fantastic moves to pick from. She, of course, is my mega, and is on my team as a sweeper. I usually whip her out late game unless its unavoidable, because the lower my enemies' hp bars, the easier I can tear them apart with this beast. Dragon Claw is probably my primary attacking move, and its not hard to see why. Dragon remains a powerful type despite the introduction of the ubiquitous fairies, and tough claws boosted dragon claw easily tears holes in much of my opposition. Flare blitz is my nuke, and I use it sparingly, knowing that it could very well cost me the life of my precious sweeper. These two attacks in tandem offer great coverage, and allow me to sweep many teams missing a wall or two. Thunder punch may seem odd (??? I don't actually know the standard set), but I can assure you it serves a vital function. This is the elimination of Azumarill. Azumarill is a huge threat to anyone, and one of my favorite things to do is to destroy belly drumming variants thinking they can force me out. Some might think togekiss is a safe switch in and predict an earthquake, but if adequately weakened, I can pick it off. Dragon dance is obvious and EVs aren't anything special, I want to be as fast as possible and hit hard.
645-s.png

Afro bby (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 88 Spd / 172 Def
Naive Nature
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stealth Rock

Afro Bby is almost always the lead on my team. His overall versatility and usefulness makes him the glue that keeps me alternating between walls and sweepers while retaining most of my momentum. Stealth rock is an obvious move on this set, and is an extremely necessary component of my team used for weakening mandibuzz, opposing charizards, talonflame, and volcarona, all of which are common sites and dangerous threats. U-turn is the most important move on the set, and it allows me to slap an intimidate on something and quickly high tail it outta there, usually bringing in Lord Ducky or ScienceBro. HP ice is a simple move, and i use it for gliscor, salamence, garchomp and others. Earthquake is basically a stab move thrown in for fun. Rocky helmet is used to further weaken talonflame or charizard after rocks and totally not because I can't get another leftovers... haha.... EVs are completely stolen from gen 5 analysis because why not. They still work.
121.png

Patrick (Starmie) @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump
- Psyshock
- Rapid Spin

Sweet patty, what would i do without you? Have a life? Starmie is a hella sweet pokemon, and I've used one in almost all of my games. On my team, I personally feel that starmie holds everything together, but in a completely different way than landorus. Starmie is a status absorber. Starmie is my best check to gengar. Starmie makes charizard live because of rapid spin. Starmie does it all. I love starmie. Ice beam for lati twins, psyshock to those pesky fighting types that could otherwise hurt a good deal of my pokemon, and for gengar, who is probably my nemesis. Hydro pump is my little present to whatever is unfortunate enough to get hit by it. His high speed tier is also a godsend to my team, as it allows me to revenge kill tons of fast opponents. Overall, a great addition to my team. EVs are standard offensive.

534.png

SexyLegs (Conkeldurr) (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts (Katanakaran)
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SDef / 4 HP (Fr33dom)
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch
- Ice Punch
- Knock Off

Conkeldurr was recommended by Genesisboi7, and fills the role of a bulky attacker and utility pokemon. With knock off, I can cripple things like chancey and opposing porygon2s. Its drain punch is a fantastic way to heal myself while killing the opponent. It also makes a grat lure for latios and gengar, thinking they might be able to come in on a fighting move when i'm actually about to smash them with with a dark or ice move that will ohko or in latios' case weaken it enough to be picked off by priority. the conk is also a fantastic counter against excadrill, the most common spinner in ou. The EVs I use give me maximum mixed bulk. Iron fist was chosen because I already have a status absorber.
233.png

Lord Ducky (Porygon2) @ Eviolite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 32 Def / 224 SDef / 252 HP
Calm Nature
- Discharge
- Ice Beam
- Toxic
- Recover

LORD DUCKYYYYY!!!!! I love this guy, He's like the cutest for me and the spawn of satan for any opponent not carrying knock off! Lord ducky is my all in one solution to greninja, talonflame, and gengar, and can also usually outstall non DD tyranitar. Trace allows me to copy great abilities, primarily protean (my favorite) or multi scale. Porygon also makes a reliable gliscor check, as it gains poison heal and can take its attacks even without eviolite. recover is for healing, Discharge for spamming, and ice beam for great coverage alongside it. Toxic is for opposing porys and bulky pokemon. He's the primary (pretty much only) wall on my team, and is extremely useful and versatile, often winning me matches when I'm down 1-3. The EV's were standard in OU last generation, and aim to give me as much survivability as possible against the plethora of special hard hitters.
462.png

ScienceBro (Magnezone) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon

I've read some things about how magnezone isn't as good this generation, but I have to disagree. Ferrothorn can be a huge pain for my team if charizard is down, and this guy is great at stopping him and forretress, eliminating the opponent's hazards and spinner, respectively. magnezone is also my exremely valuable fairy check, and can usually live a fire blast from things like clefable or a flamethower from certain variants of togekiss and retaliate hard. Magnezone also forms a little volturn core with landorus, something that suits them both well as they have good type synergy together, with afro bby immune to ground, and magnezone resisting ice. The EVs on this set aim to outspeed base 110s with a scarf. This can also give me a surprise edge against some taloflame sets and allows me to outspeed and KO scizor when weakened. Suggested by fr33dom.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now that you've seen my team, I'll list the most problematic pokemon and play styles for me to deal with, though there isnt really anything that I havent been able to work around.

Pokes:

Mamoswine- Can decimate much of my team. I usually sacrifice lando and take it on with porygon, charizard, or starmie. Late game this thing hurts.

Gengar- I really only have 2 checks for this pokemon, though to be honest I've never needed more. Porygon alternates between discharge and recover for paralysis while my starmie can KO outright.

Latios- Definitely the hardest thing for me to beat. If my starmie is down, I usually have to use porygon or my magnezone to batter it and hopefully kill it.

Styles:

Baton passing: ugh i hate this. I can kill most of them but baton passing gliscor is tough if it gets a sub up. scolipede is also hard to take down.

Light screen and reflect/bulky tanks- Can occasionally defeat me if I'm missing a few key pokemon.

Trick room hasn't beaten me yet, but has given me trouble in the past.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thats pretty much all! I'm pretty new at this, but I love to use this team for its sheer power coupled with good momentum and Lord Ducky. Please I know its not perfect, so I would appreciate some advice. Lilligant needs to go, and I can't decide what to replace her with. I hope this isn't too difficult to read! I just joined and i've never done this before :) If you'd like to battle this team, whether in game or on showdown, just ask!

Thanks!

Lilligant definitely isn't great for OU, I recommend trying out Conkeldurr because it can help you against the threats you listed (be wary against Latios though). I like this set:
Conkeldurr (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Mach Punch
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch
- Knock Off

You could also try Bisharp if you're still having a lot of trouble against Latios since it wrecks it (you'll be seeing more Latioses than Mamoswines on the ladder anyway):
BasedGod (Bisharp) @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit

Thanks for the reply! Quite frankly, I'm not a fan of conkeldurr due to it being (In my own opinion) too ugly. No need to spend hours raising something you hate.... The set looks interesting though, and I'll try it on PS!

Bisharp looks interesting. It actually gives me a little trouble because of how powerful it is. And like I said, I'm primarily interested in Y. I like that set, and I'm willing to give it a try. He looks like a great check to both gengar and Latios.

One thing that really worries me is losing my F/W/G core. Do you think that would be detrimental? also I think conkeldurr might have a really easy time dismantling me if i had bisharp.

Thanks for the feedback, going to give both a try!

You can definitely use lando and Charizard to wear Conk down. I don't think losing that core will be an immense problem, especially since you're replacing Lilligant who I like and used last gen in RU but she is not at home in OU.

Really? I thought they usually brought ice punch so i was a little scared. Thanks though! and yeah lilligant is a personal favorite, but her stats just don't cut it i guess. Any other alterations you would make? I'm about to test conk and sharp. Also, If anyone else has anything at all to say, please do!

They do pack Ice Punch you are just going to have to predict Drain Punches for Rocky Helmet damage and the switch into Starmie and Psyshock or into Charizard.

Ohhhh gotcha. I tried your conkeldurr set and I have to say I'm very impressed. It basically won 2 games by itself and Its pulling its weight way better than lilligant ever did. Thank you so much for the set!

Edit: Going to make conkeldurr a permanent part of the team. He was better overall than bisharp. Thanks!

Since you only have attacking Magnezone, I would suggest giving it a Scarf. This allows it to out-speed max speed Keldeo (I've found this out the hard way), and can give you a fast Spcl sweeper. I don't have anything else to add (as of now). Your team looks solid.

Good Luck! :)

Thanks for the speedy response! I'm going to try that out, it actually sounds like it would fit my team fantastically. Not being forced out by those sounds great too, and im assuming it allows me to RK weakened excadrill.

Another thing I'm concerned about is mega charizard Y. It cant put me at a full stop, But i lost 2 pokemon to it in the first 2 turns, and I'd like to know if theres anything i can change to remedy that. that match I lost 1-0.

Well, I'm pretty sure Magne out speeds, so you could either sacrifice one poke or see if you could get a free switch in. Then you could kill with T-bolt/Volt Switch. I'm glad that I could help you.

Thanks! I guess its an even better set than I realized. Going to make the change permanent!

If anybody else has advice i'd love to hear it as well.

Mega charizard-y (isn't it so cool) can be pain for your team as you already noted. I suggest that you replace starmie with latios. It provides you defog support like starmie. It also checks keldeo and you can go with earthquake to lure and kill heatran to make your zard sweep easier.

Latios @ life orb
Hasty nature
EVs:252spA / 252spe/ 4spD
Ability : Levitate
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Earthquake
- Defog

Also try physically defensive porygon2 which is overall better this gen imo. Sorry i am on mobile so i can not look for the spread now :-|

hope i helped. And gl :-D

I wouldn't want to use a defogger because you would get rid of the hazards on both sides of the field, so I don't think that is the best idea (no offense s_aman). Btw, he already has a spinner.

Hey this is my first time rating but I don't want to be too blunt and mean so sorry if I am. Overall this team is great! I like it a lot! I complement you on running ThunderPunch on MegaZard X I felt that roost wasn't quite cutting it and I was looking for better coverage options and I stumble
upon this so I Thank you! As for things I would change they are only minor. For Landorus I ran different EV's I ran 252 in hp/100 in attack/ and 156 in defense with an adamant nature but instead you can run Naughty (Atk,-SpD) that way u essentially get a max attack with added bulk. I would also run Leftovers over Rocky Helmet because landorus-T doesn't get recovery. But your moves look fine to me! I like ur starmie set! Next I would definitely run Guts.. It really helps out against Rotom-Wash even in ur replay it would have helped even though the guy was running thunder wave you had the guaranteed 2HKO with drain punch if you were guys. Also Iron Fist only affects two moves but Guts boost affects all 4 moves and u might be saying status is situational but look u mentioned Natural Cure on starmie as ur status absorber based on that you are implying Status is a problem to ur team and you are encountering a lot of it. So guts is the way to go! (: P2 looks great and I never thought about tracing multiscale but that would be a demon to face! Next is magnezone.Magnezone is the perfect dragon partner because it deals with fairies and traps steel types so it's good to run with Charizard X! I can see why you are running Choice Scarf but I believe Mag is base 60 speed but that isn't fast enough for a scarfer. I recommend Assault Vest it works exceptionally well just take my word on it. Give it 252 Hp/252 SpA and modest nature it will work wonders! The moves are fine on that one as well. And u could be asking me why have to Assault Vest users? Assault Vest is a unique item you can have 2 users on one team. It's not like having 2 scarfers on one team. It will work just trust me! Other than that I really enjoyed your team! It was well thought out and showed me some nice, new sets! I apologize for any blunt speaking I am just trying to help because I understand what it's like to be new I started battling a couple months before you! Other than that I apologize for any typos and text talk (I did this on my phone) I hope I helped you out and best of luck on your endeavors! :D

Also I said something after drain punch like "if you were guys" I think I lost my train of thought and didn't complete my sentence so i Apologize for any confusion or offense that caused you. It was a simple typo. I'm sorry

Haha it wasnt blunt at all! It was helpful. I'm definitely going to give assault vest magnezone a try, seems interesting. You're right about guts though. I should change that. However, for lando, I'm not looking for any added power at all. He's honestly almost purely there as intimidate support.

Forgot about your comment s_aman! sorry! Also, I dont particularly like defog. As i mentioned, rocks are too important and I usually only get one chance to put em down. Starmie also is useful because of the threats it checks and RKs!

Oh well in that case we're all good! Good luck!

Yep! if you have any other changes be sure to add. I'm leaning toward scarf magnezone because I'm actually faster than quite a bit. Guts was great! currently alternating battles with AV!

I also have another replay up vs a trick room team... pretty crazy game, I was down pretty bad and won 1-0.

Sounds good. If I where you, I would change the EVs on Conk to max SpD instead of max HP. The reason for this is that this allows Conk to take more SpAs and he can regain more health with drain punch.

I've done it on the simulator, just need to change it in the thread!

Also, I need Ideas for phasers and tips to stop baton pass teams!!!
