Bulky Redirection (Clefable) @ Safety Goggles / Sitrus Berry
Ability: Unaware
Level: 50
Tera Type: Steel / Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold / Calm
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Follow Me
- Protect
- Helping Hand / Thunder Wave / Icy Wind / Skill Swap / Life Dew
[SET COMMENTS]
- Clefable is a bulky support mon, using Helping Hand and Follow Me to boost damage and protect its allies. Its ability, Unaware, allows it to ignore the stat boosts of setup sweepers like Dondozo and Kingambit, allowing it to take less damage when it redirects attacks than it would've without Unaware.
- Moonblast provides STAB but Fairy-type damage, doing decent damage to neutral and super-effective targets while not being shut down by Taunt. Follow Me is used to protect allies from dangerous attacks, typically Fighting-, Dragon-, or Dark-type attacks since it is either immune to or resists all of them. Thunder Wave is a niche supporting option that is great to use against faster foes (such as Sneasler) that your wallbreakers may struggle to outspeed. Icy Wind is primarily used as a form of speed control, typically if you don't yet have Tailwind up or want to avoid the opponent outspeeding your team if both sides of the field have Tailwind up. Skill Swap exists to make your opponent's life much harder by swapping their good ability(ies) for something they don't need and is practically useless for them, or to give your allies better abilities than they currently have. Life Dew can be used instead to have a consistent healing option that aids both Clefable and the Pokemon next to it.
- Safety Goggles provides an immunity to Spore and Sleep Powder, negating any sort of need for Tera Grass and letting Clefable spam Follow Me; rendering Sleep-spreaders like Vivillon and Amoonguss next to useless. Sitrus Berry, on the other hand, allows for more longevity and a much greater ability to take dangerous attacks. For instance, if Clefable has Safety Goggles, a Dire Claw from Sneasler is always a 2HKO whereas if Clefable has Sitrus Berry it has a 86.3% of being 3HKO'ed.
- Tera Steel provides Clefable with an immunity to Poison and a resistance to Steel, flipping its weaknesses into resistances while also giving it resistances against common types like Grass, Dragon, and Normal; such attacks would include Wood Hammer, Draco Meteor, and Blood Moon respectively. Tera Water is great for resisting behemoth Fire-, Water-, and Steel-Type attacks from the likes of Hisuian Typhlosion, Basculegion-M, and Gholdengo; with Eruption, Wave Crash, and Make It Rain respectively.
- Having a Bold Nature lets Clefable take less damage from strong physical attacks like Headlong Rush and Dire Claw, while having a Calm nature provides more tankiness against strong special attacks like Expanding Force or Flash Cannon.

Teambuilding
============
- Clefable has an inclination towards being used on hyper-offensive or balance teams, where it can support common wallbreakers like Hydreigon, Kingambit, or Dragapult.
- It enjoys having powerful attackers next to it like Kingambit or Garchomp that can wipe away gigantic threats, especially those who can ignore Follow Me with spread moves like Volcarona, Gholdengo, or Typhlosion-H.
Strategy Comments
============
- Clefable is an all-in support Pokémon and achieves that role through a liberal use of Follow Me, Helping Hand, and various other support moves. Clefable’s entire purpose is to support the setup Pokémon or wallbreaker next to it by redirecting attacks and boosting damage, while also being tanky enough to actually absorb that damage well. It shines brightest when its partners are able to set up and safely take KOs.
- Clefable is best used early game and as a switch-in to support its teammates and take attacks. It likes when it can get into a position that supports your attackers, usually either as a switch-in midgame or as a lead early game. Clefable can do this by using Follow Me as your attacker of choice switches in, and if Clefable survives, it can then spam more Follow Me's or other supporting moves to its pleasure.
- Clefable’s main weakness is its vulnerability to Taunt, which can and will almost completely shut it down, prompting a switch. It is also heavily threatened by powerful Steel-types like Gholdengo, of whom can ignore Follow Me and press a OHKO onto Clefable. In order to mitigate Clefabe’s susceptability to Taunt, the move Protect is important to use over Terastallizing to Dark or holding the Mental Herb, since neither of those are beneficial game over game to Clefable but Protect can block Taunt. Tera Water or Steel can be utilized to seriously weaken incoming Steel-type attacks like Make It Rain’s and Heavy Slams.
