THE ODD ONE OUT
This team seeks to utilize some more odd, and less predictable movesets. That goal sort of failed when I realized that my movesets are in fact predictable, but the team gave me a few wins and I'm just seeking to maximize my win rate. So without further ado:
Froslass (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 Spd/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Spikes
- Taunt
- Destiny Bond
- Ice Beam
My Froslass serves an anti-lead purpose. If I outspeed the enemy, I typically taunt first. If I can OHKO them with Ice beam I do so, otherwise I use spikes, until I'm at low health (assisted by focus sash), at which point I destiny bond. Even when I face a faster lead such as Aerodactyl, I can succeed using ice beam. Froslass usually helps me take down the bane of my entire team, which is Rotom-H.
---
Ninjask (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 176 HP/252 Atk/80 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- Baton Pass
- X-Scissor
My speed/attack boost Baton Passer that many are familiar with. I haven't seen too much of ninjask lately so I thought I'd try him out again. I usually switch him in right after froslass clears the playing field and prevents stealth rock. I also sometimes switch into him when I predict a utillity move from my opponent like wish from a vaporeon, or softboiled from Blissey. I use substitute and stall for Ninjask's speed boost to stack up. If they don't break the substitute, I also tack on a swords dance. When the hp gets low, or I see consecutive electric attacks on ninjask, I baton pass the boosts to Electivire usually.
---
Electivire (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
- Cross Chop
- Earthquake
A quite capable physical sweeper if I do say so myself. He has massive type coverage, and if he gets a swords dance passed to him he can KO a surprising number of opponents in OU. Not to mention If I see my enemy using thunder attacks, I can switch into Electivire, and he'll gain a speed boost due to motor drive. The only real threats I sometimes face are the various Rotom Formes. If I can get a Swords Dance passed from Ninjask then they crumble easily, but otherwise they eliminate my electric yeti. That being said, I am considering somehow working firepunch onto his moveset. Ideas?
---
Starmie @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 136 HP/156 Def/216 Spd
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Rapid Spin
- Surf
- Thunderbolt
- Recover
The spinning star of lore. I'm not going to lie, I was unsure at this point in the team building process of who to use, and thus I chose an opponent I had never used before, but had seen a lot of. Starmie is just sort of there to eliminate enemies with low special defense, and remove the rare entry hazard that made it past froslass. Further usage is random. Open to alternates or suggestions.
---
Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 168 HP/120 Def/220 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Curse
- Rest
- Return
- Earthquake
The big fat special-sponging curser. I often switch Snorlax into incoming status inflictions because he can quickly rest them off after a curse or so. He also works well against Blissey who I love to watch struggle to poison or paralyze this big guy. He does suffer somewhat to ghosts with levitate, and this often forces some switches I don't want. Should I replace earthquake with crunch?
---
Bronzong @ Leftovers
Ability: Heatproof
EVs: 252 HP/86 Atk/80 Def/92 SDef
Sassy nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Light Screen
- Grass Knot
My one-trick pony. At first glance one might ask: Why Heatproof? I find most opponents predict a levitate, and thus I'm protected from incoming earthquakes when they use fire blast. If I'm lucky, they scratch their heads at the 30% a fire blast from heatran does, and try it again. This frees me up to light screen after stealth rocking. I put grass knot on to deal with heavy water types that i was often having a problem with, particularly swampert. Gyro ball is the commonplace STAB for Bronzong.
And thats my team in a nutshell. Ideas?
