Hello friends, it's been a while! Let's get straight to the point. I've been curious about playing Music League with the circus crowd given how popular Walrus used to be. If you don't know what Music League is, it's a game where you submit songs (either through the music league website or app) that fit the category, and once everyone has submitted, a Spotify playlist will automatically generated of everyone's songs. You then vote on the songs based on if you like them and if they fit the theme. Submissions are anonymous until voting ends, after a round is over, you can see how everyone voted, what comments they left (if they left any) and where your song placed. The person with the most points by the end of the league is the winner.
So as you can see, what makes this different from Walrus is that everyone who is participating votes on the songs, not just the host. While I am the creator of this league, I am also a participant, and I cannot vote on my own songs (nobody can). This also means that even if I were to lose interest in playing, the game can still go on without me, since rounds will just automatically start and end if I don't touch them (though I do have the power to end rounds or the whole league prematurely if need be). Also, since I am not the sole person voting on songs, you don't need to appeal to my taste, though if you are intent on winning, you should probably pay attention to what your fellow competitors like. Given that this is (presumably) the first music league game hosted on circus, I decided to not make the round themes anything too crazy or force people to submit specific genres or whatever. The idea was to have a game that allows for a diverse range of music to be submitted.
Some extras:
- Music league requires Spotify to play. This is not up to me, unfortunately.
- I'm giving y'all 2 days to submit and 2 days to vote, though if anyone needs an extension feel free to ask. With that said, my patience only goes so far and if I feel like I've given too many extensions, I'll eventually just move on with the game without you.
- I'm capping the amount of players at 12, because once we start going over that point, I find it harder to finish playlists lol
- You are capable of seeing the standings of each song (including your own) after you vote. If you intend to discuss any of the songs, try to keep things vague for the people who have not yet voted. For example, instead of saying something like "wow I can't believe twist of fate is in first place" say "I didn't upvote first place" or something.
- Music league will inform you if a specific artist or song has already been submitted. While there's no rules against submitting the same artist multiple times in one round or game I would advise against it. And definitely do NOT submit a song that was already submitted previously in a later round.
- When submitting, you can write up a comment justify your song choice or just tell us anything you think we should know about it. This isn't necessary, but is highly recommended, since people knowing what your thought process was behind a specific song choice can help you gain more upvotes.
- You can also leave comments while voting. Once again, not necessarily, but highly recommended so that people understand how you felt about their song. Also, comments just make the game far more fun, frankly. I mean...

- Speaking of, I haven't decided yet, so I'll leave this one up to you guys...should we have downvotes on for this game? I have no preference either way. Downvotes make things more competitive (and more messy lol, though messy can be fun), while no downvotes keep things more on the casual side. Think about which vibe you'd prefer.
