Hi ho there, Stoker here with my third rate my team. I'm not a regular on Shoddy, I mostly play folks over Wifi from the Battle Me thread, or with my friends locally. A few things of note, before rating my team: all these Pokemon are bred by myself (most having flawless IVs in stats that matter, i.e. speed and whichever attack stat they use, unless they're tanks and then it's HP and the applicable defense), in addition to the fact that I usually find myself having to play under an item clause. I have bred for Hidden Powers in the past, but that's a rarity for me, so more often then not I rely on more conventional movesets.
All of my Pokemon are named after Demons and Devils from various religions/literature.
Team at a glance:
THE LEAD
Metagross (-) @ Occa Berry ** Gharagh
Abililty: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Atk / 12 Def / 8 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Bullet Punch
-Earthquake
-Stealth Rock
-Explosion
Lead Metagross with Occa, although I previously was using a Lum berry to great success, and I'm seriously debating switching back to it. While it's nice to be able to stay in on Fire Blasts/Heatwaves to Earthquake back versus Infernapes/Heatrans/Azelfs, being able to suck up a status effect has been more useful in the past. Versus alot of leads, especially Jirachi/Infernape and the like I attack first rather then setting up Stealth Rock to maim them, then usually set up Stealth Rock as they switch thinking another Earthquake or Bullet Punch is incoming. In a lot of games frequently Latias/Gyarados/Swampert have been switched in, which I prefer cause to just save me the grief of trying to get rid of them later I Explode right then and there.
THE SCOUT/REVENGE KILLER
Flygon (M) @ Choice Scarf ** Zaebos
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 80 SpA / 176 Spe
Nature: Naughty
-Outrage
-Draco Meteor
-Earthquake
-U-Turn
Previously I used a Scarf Gengar...and I was very happy with him, however, I was wanting to put a ground poke on the team for an Electric immunity, and having another Levitator is never a bad thing either. In addition, I was getting raped something hardcore by Kingdras and needed something that could reliably take them, so Flygon was added. I've had a few problems with him, most notably I've been regretting not maxing his Speed EVs because I'm usually outran by other Scarfed Flygons/Porygon-Zs, but overall he works. Generally after Metagross Explodes I switch in Flygon here to scout the other team out a bit.
THE SPECIAL SWEEPER
Gengar (M) @ Choice Specs ** Silas
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid
-Trick
-Thunderbolt
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast
Previously my revenge killer with a Choice Scarf, I switched to Specs for a time to see exactly how Gengar would fare with the extra boost...largely cause even with Stealth Rock he was missing out on A LOT of KOs. When I added the Specs I was immensely happy, anything that is not immune to Shadow Ball gets ripped by it, making him very difficult to switch into once I've scouted my opponents team, and even special walls are dented something fierce if they try to go toe to toe with him. I have to hold him back though, as opposing Scizors spell death for him.
THE STATUS ABSORBER
Breloom (M) @ Toxic Orb ** Thamusz
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 44 HP / 252 Atk / 212 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Spore
-Substitute
-Focus Punch
-Leech Seed
At first I was hesistant to use Breloom because of his fragility, but after getting experienced with him his is one of my most difficult Pokemon to dance around, and when I play folks they comment that he generally is the biggest pain in the ass. With Poison Heal he continues to gain health back, even through Sandstorm and Hail, plus after the Toxic Orb is activated he can switch into any Will-o-Wisps or Thunderwaves directed at my sweepers. Generally he manages to take out two or three opponents a match if he gets a Sub up, as he will Spore the first one and not much can stand up to a Focus Punch on the switch.
THE SPECIAL WALL
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers ** Lilith
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 148 HP / 252 Def / 108 SpA
Nature: Bold
-Thunderbolt
-Icebeam
-Thunderwave
-Softboiled
A special wall without a physical wall, but the reason being is a lot of special sweepers and Scarfed revenger killers (I'm looking at Porygon-Z on this one) really eat through this team, and I needed someone who could slow their momentum, paralyze them if I could, so that one of my guys could come in and finish the job.
THE MAIN SWEEPER
Gyarados (M) @ Life Orb ** Bhaal
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Adamant
-Taunt
-Waterfall
-Stone Edge
-Dragon Dance
My main sweeper, and generally the guy I try to hold back as long as I can, Gyarados generally gets the job done, and oftentimes he can get the job done without a Dragon Dance. Taunt for Celebi/Uxie/Lucario/Dusknoir who try to come in and status or set up on me. The EV spread isn't the norm for a Taunting Gyarados, however, I find I often need the power and speed as I can't always rely on a Dragon Dance occuring. Many times I've squeeked out a win because when the opponent switched after Gyara came in I opened up with a Waterfall instead of a Dragon Dance.
As you can probably see, I have huge Scizor problems. If it's Choice Banded/Scarfed that's fine, Gyarados can generally handle him, but if its a Swords Dance variant then he'll be able to KO pretty much my entire team bar Metagross, who will most likely be exploded by that point.
Celebi and Jirachi are irritating, Scarfed versions of Jirachi particularly so. Overall, however, the team works pretty well off of each other and I've been happy with my success rate. I've been working on some side breeding projects, but I've debating tweaking this team a bit and was wondering what folks would thinkg.
