This team is something I made after having a desire to build an offensive team centered around the 3 starter types.
I am currently looking for areas I can improve.
Blaziken (M) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Blaze Kick
- Close Combat
- Thunder Punch
Blaziken is a Pokémon that I have always really enjoyed and I wanted to take a bit of a unique spin on the standard set.
My idea was to (with the help of screens) set up swords dance, get the speed boost, and possible get hit by a super effective move, triggering weakness policy. After that Blaziken is a terrifyingly hard hitting sweeper, albeit, a somewhat inconsistent one. Status and crits can really ruin this Mon's day.
the moves are rather standard, I went with adamant since speed boost will cover speed and the extra attack is really needed here. the EVs are the way they are to help survive that first hit to trigger the weakness policy.
Rillaboom (M) @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Grassy Glide
- Acrobatics
- High Horsepower
- Swords Dance
Rillaboom is another sweeper using a somewhat unconventional set. Since when most people see it they will automatically assume its the choice band variant, which actually helps win some situations the choice variant would otherwise fold to.
The EVs are rather standard, but with the grassy seed not only giving a minor defensive boost but also allowing acrobatics to deal much more damage.
I use high horsepower as ground coverage mostly for heatran specifically, and I use it over earthquake since grassy terrain lowers its power.
Tapu Fini @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Moonblast
- Substitute
The water part of the core, Tapu Fini is a lot different in the sense that its not a physical sweeper that really needs those screens like the previous two are, rather its a defensive calm mind variant that's pretty standard stuff.
I use substitute mostly to evade status, massively aid against walls. overall a very standard set.
Garchomp (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
probably my favorite Pokémon, Garchomp here is very unconventional.
Similar to blaziken, I made the EVs more bulk orientated, and gave it Edgequake as its attacks with swords dance for set up and substitute both for status, set up time, and even sometimes to scout moves. Leftovers as the item mostly to help heal up from substitute and to set up another one if needed.
Though garchomp can sometimes really miss the coverage from fire blast/fire fang.
Tapu Koko @ Light Clay
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Taunt
- U-turn
Tapu Koko is my Screen setter. I lead with it about 90% of the time, taunt can help prevent walls/opposing taunts from preventing me from getting screens up.
U-turn is used over volt switch to prevent ground types from screwing with the plan. Aside from that, pretty standard for the screens varient.
Mew @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Roost
- Body Press
- Cosmic Power
- Stored Power
and Finally we have Mew. Mew can be an efficient bluff, as usually when people see it, they will assume that its the lead variant and try to counter it with their own lead...only to be caught of guard by either tapu koko leading, or mew using cosmic power over stealth rocks.
Mew is also the mon on the team that defiantly requires the most set up time, but it also is the most bulky.
When coming up with this team, the 6th mon (which became mew) was something I really struggled to figure out what I wanted.
I am looking for ways to improve and any advice, regardless of how harsh or tiny, is massively appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, I really do need alot of help when it comes to team building I know, but any and all critiques are helpful.
