offensive and balanced ou team

This is my first team i have posted. i have played with it for a while and i think it is pretty good. the main idea is to set up SDlucario for a sweep.

azelf.png

Azelf@ Focus sash
Levitate
252 Sp atk, 252 Spe, 6 Atk
Naive

Stealth Rock
Explosion
Flamethrower
Psychic

This is the standard suicide lead Azelf. i chose against taunt and i decided to use flamethrower so i could hit metagross. flamethrower because for some reason fire blast always misses on azelf. ive considered changing to metagross so help me on this. basically this just sets up stealth rock and explodes.

heatran.png

Heatran@ Choice Scarf
Flash Fire
252 Sp Atk, 252 spe, 6 Hp
Naive

Flamethrower
Earth Power
Hidden Power Ice
Explosion

This is generic Choice Scarf Heatran but it is so effective. It is one of my answers to DDmence once it goes into outrage and my solid SDluke Counter. He is my revenge killer and removes some of the pokemon like salamence that stop lucario from sweeping. Flamethrower is preffered because a miss on something like scizor could mean the end of a match.

vaporeon.png

Vaporeon@ Leftovers
Water Absorb
188 Hp, 252 Def, 68 Spe Atk
Bold

Wish
Protect
Surf
Hidden Power Electric

Vaporeon is my wish passer, bulky water and counter utility. This guy can effectively counter all out mixape, DDgyara, and Heatran. Salamence and Heatran both love getting passed wishes because entry hazards hurt them both alot. This thing also has alot of power with its stab Surf and can even do some damage to neutral pokemon.

dusknoir.png

Dusknoir@ Leftovers
Pressure
252 Hp, 200 Def, 52 Sp Atk
Impish

Will-o-Wisp
Pain Split
Ice Punch
Shadow sneak

Dusknoir is mainly my mixed tank. Latias is a big problem on my team and Ice Punch and Shadow Sneak help against latias. Also can switch into DDmence. and OHKO with Ice Punch. WOW is an all around great move for getting the beloved burn on random physical pokemon. Pain Split is needed for a source of recovery. Also this guy functions as a rapid spin blocker so stealth rock never goes away which is good is for lucario.

salamence.png

Salamence@ Life Orb
Intimidate
84 Atk, 216 Sp Atk, 208 Spe
Mild

Draco Meteor
Outrage
Fire Blast
Earthquake

This is the new mixmence from smogon. I always like to have Mixed sweepers on my teams and Salamence does just that. Outrage 2hko'es blissey and Fire Blast is an Ohko on Skarmory. Draco Meteor from 341 Sp Atk puts a dent in anything not named Blissey. Earthquake is for Heatran and Tyranitar.

lucario.png

Lucario@ Life Orb
Inner Focus
252 Atk, 252 Spe, 6 Hp
Adamant

Swords Dance
Extremespeed
Close Combat
Crunch

And Finally the main sweeper. SDlucario can rip through a team after a swords dance. Close Combat Ohko'es a standard skarmory with stealth rock and does upwards 75% to a Hippowdon. Extremespeed Ohko'es bunches of frail sweepers that are faster than Lucario like Infernape. Crunch is for Celebi, Dusknoir, and Cresselia. He mainly has trouble with Intimidators like Salamence and Gyarados also Zapdos which all take 25% from stealth rock so SR is a must with lucario. I chose Adamant for the power.

well here is my team. Hopefully you like it. Please rate it and post comments about my team since i am new to this.
thanks in advance,

Hi.

I highly suggest using Fire Blast on Azelf. The extra power really helps, and I find its worth the occasional miss.

Again, with Heatran Fire Blast is recommended. Put that last Ev from Hp to Atk. It seems a little useless but you'll get the most out of killing yourself.

Vaporeon looks okay.

There is no reason to put Sp. Atk Evs on Dusknoir. Its probably just a typo, but fix it to Atk. You don't really need both Shadow Sneak and Ice punch to deal with Latias, so feel free to Swap one out for Earthquake for the coverage.

Actually, these days max speed is really appreciated on Mix Mences. When it doesn't have Dragon Dance to boost it, the max speed really helps to outspeed key pokemon and tie with other Base 100s. Your Salamence should have this Ev Spread: Naive, 252 Spd 16 Atk 240 Sp Atk. (I think thats right...change it if I'm wrong.)

Lucario looks fine.

Your team is quite Ddancing Salamence weak. If it has a dance up, it can KO Vaporeon and Dusknoir with an Outrage, Heatran and Luke with Earthquake, and your own Salamence as he will outspeed it.
To combat this, I think you should replace Dusknoir with a Bronzong.

Bronzong@Leftovers
Sassy, Levitate
252 Hp, 86 Atk, 80 Def, 92 Sp. Def
~Gyro Ball
~Earthquake
~Hypnosis
~Explosion

Dusknoir's effectiveness really went down the hole with all these Scizor's Bullets and Pursuits IMO.
Bronzong can easily counter Salamence. It resists Outrage, so while it's stuck Gyro Ball it and punish it for boosting its speed. You can invest more in Sp. Def to take Fire Blasts easier. Hypnosis can cripple stuff like Will o wisp. Earthquake for coverage and explosion as a last resort.
This Bronzong can take Latias well. Again, with a good amount of Sp. Def it can take Dragon Pulses and Surfs all day, and keep going with wish support. Then hit with Gyro Ball for nice damage.
Bronzong can mixwall just as effectively as Dusknoir.

Overall, pretty good team. More descriptions would be nice though. Take this into consideration and test these stuff out.

Hope I helped.

Dusknoir in no way at all helps deal with Latias, at all, I think since Heatran is there scarfed, you will be able to get around Latias, And you should change Dusknoir to Rotom-H With Wisp, Overheat, Thunderbolt, Shadow Ball/Rest. This would give you a bit more damage build up, and some pursuit Bait for a Tyranitar or something which will give Lucario the SD it needs to sweep, while Rotom-H Cripples them at the same time. It also Deals with your "DD" Salamence Problem.

Hi and welcome to Smogon,

as others have stated, you're quite weak to DD Salamence, and I'd like to add that you're also quite weak to Tyranitar, considering that only Lucario can switch into a CB stone edge, and despite being 4x resistant to rock it takes a huge amount of damage, not to mention that a predicted EQ or fire punch will ohko it. My suggestion would be to replace your Azelf lead with Swampert:

Swampert@leftovers
nature: relaxed
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
-earthquake
-ice beam
-roar
-stealth rock

Swampert can be an effective lead but also a counter for TTar and a check for Salamence, ice beam ohkos it after SR even with no SpA EVs. I'm suggesting ice beam over ice punch because it allows you to hit hard Gliscor and Hippowdon, but if you want to hurt Latias on the switch in, then feel free to run ice punch or avalanche and switch to an impish nature.

Speaking of Latias, she can be a massive threat for this team considering that you lack a bulky steel capable of switching into a specs dragon pulse - Heatran can take one, but can't do nothing in return other than exploding. My suggestion is to replace Dusknoir, which, by the way, is largely outcalssed by Rotom-a nowadays as a bulky ghost, with a CB Scizor:

Scizor@choice band
nature: adamant
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 Spe
-bullet punch
-pursuit
-u-turn
-superpower

Scizor can actually switch into a choiced dragon attack and eliminate Latias by pursuiting her. U-turn for scouting and bullet punch adds another powerful priority move to deal with Salamence and fast but frail pokemons like Azelf and Gengar.

Definitely run fire blast on Heatran, despite the 85% accuracy, you'll feel the power boost, especially if you attempt to sweep with it late game.

Good luck with your team!

ok i think im gonna try out using the bronzong. it looks like it could help alot.

wen i have played against ddmence it hasnt been much of a problem because usually when it is stuck on outrage heatran can kill it but i gess bronzong can take latias and salamence well.
