So I made this team about a week and a half ago and I'm really loving it. The amount of safe switches that this team provides as well as the amount of damage this team throws out is absolutely fantastic. The way I created this team was by going onto the ORAS Good Cores Forum. I needed an offensive core and a defensive core. The cores had to have synergy so it took me a very long time to find the right combination, but I finally found two that were perfect for each other. The cores of course have been tweaked a little in order to cut as many counters as possible.

46017-ea8c97c06bb0e44ed5944064442a8387.jpg

The Offensive Core: The idea behind this Offensive Core is to do as much damage as possible forcing switches so that you can get chip damage from all the hazards setup. It is a very powerful core with alot of coverage forcing the opponent to play passively so that they won't be taken out by the sheer amount of damage.

Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 32 Atk / 224 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature

- Protect
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power

So I chose my Mega Pokemon to be Diancie and this because of a couple reasons. First off I love Diancie because of how powerful he becomes when he mega evolves, gaining alot of offensive pressure because of moves like Moonblast and Diamond Storm. Protect for a free Mega Evolution. Diamond Storm can especially be troubling to the opponent because of the 50% chance for 1+ Def, so spamming this move after the rest of the team taking care of the special attackers could mean GG. Not many switch into Mega-Diancie, but those who can are easily checked or countered but the rest of the team. The EV spread pretty much basic. Since she is a Mixed Attacker, there are both investments into Atk and SpA, then of course Maxspeed since she can outspeed alot of threats that otherwise would steamroll this team.

Raikou @ Assault Vest
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spe
IVs: 30 HP / 30 Def
Timid Nature

- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Shadow Ball

After reading through a bunch of the comments, many pointed out my team was pretty weak to Mega-Manectric. And there were twos options that I really liked and that was AV Raikou for Thundurus or Hippodown for Garchomp. I chose AV Raikou because Manectric's Intimidate does not matter to it and because I did not want to lose the contact damage that Garchomp gave. The moveset is basic with volt switch for momentum and the rest of the moves for coverage. The EV Spread is a basic one as well with Max SpA and Spe.

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid/Hasty Nature

- Draco Meteor
- Dark Pulse
- Fire Blast/Superpower
- Flash Cannon

Hydreigon is actually my favorite pokemon, but that is not what swayed me to use him on this team. Hydreigon's amazing coverage matched with his awesome typing and damage is just too good to pass up on. The sheer amount of power that Hydreigon puts out combined with life orb makes him a very big threat. I prefer to use Fire Blast on Hydreigon, but Superpower is viable as well in certain situations. Again, another basic EV Spread.

46014-8dd7549c84099beb62af20bc8c60831c.jpg

The Defensive Core: This Defensive Core can be a solid backbone to any team really. This core is used to allow the safest switches possible while also widdling down the opponent's team with all the hazards on the field. It's best to try and get rid of the defogger or rapid spinner on the opponent's team before really trying to stack hazards.

Garchomp (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Rough Skin
EVs: 240 HP / 164 Def / 104 Spe
Impish Nature

- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
Garchomp is a great lead. Stealth rocks of course to prevent switch ins like Talonflame and Volcarona, Dragon Tail allows Garchomp to pivot the opponent's team around so they get widdled by the Stealth Rocks, Earthquake for STAB and coverage, then Fire Blast for coverage. The EV Spread is a little special. 156 Spe EVs so that Garchomp outspeeds Maxspeed Timid Heatran without Choice Scarf. The rest are put into HP and Def to preference and those are what I found to be most effective. Rocky Helmet plus Rough Skin for pokemon like Mega-Lopunny or Weavile who go for Fake Out or just for contact moves in general.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 28 SpD / 16 Spe
Bold Nature

IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Acid Spray
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
Tentacruel is one of those walls that are just annoying to play against. Acid Spray is really the only way this team can really face against CM Clefable and Mega Altaria with Fire Blast. Scald for the 30% burn chance, Toxic Spikes to stack those hazards, and Rapid Spin to keep hazards off the field so your Offensive Core can go to work. The EV Spread is is very scattered, but very simple actually. Since Tentacruel is already pretty Specially Defensive, I put alot of the points into defense so it makes it easier for him to take hits he wouldn't usually be able to take.

46014-8dd7549c84099beb62af20bc8c60831c.jpg

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 216 Def / 24 SpD
Relaxed Nature

IVs: 0 Spe
- Power Whip
- Gyro Ball
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
Ferrothorn is another personal favorites of mine, as he is a super annoying pokemon to play against. He is super tanky, checking a very large list of pokemon, can do alot of damage with Gyro Ball and Power Whip, and on top of that gets to add to the arsenal of entry hazards on the field. Leech Seed also paired with Leftovers is great for the longevity of Ferrothorn. This allows him to be alot tankier while doing a huge amount of damage at the same time. The EV Spread is pretty basic. Max Hp so Ferrothorn can tank the maximum amount of hits, 16 Atk so Power Whip packs a bigger punch, then a spread of Def and SpDef. This is the spread that I found to be most effective, but can be tweaked to your liking of course.

Importable:
Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 32 Atk / 224 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature

- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power

Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spe
IVs: 30 HP / 30 Def
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Shadow Ball

Hydreigon @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Thank you for reading my first RMT, I hope you enjoyed and I also hope that I can get alot of people to help me with and weaknesses my team has by commenting on the thread. Thank you everyone!

Usually you should just edit the first post rather than post a whole new thread... not sure what the policy is on that but I'm sure one of the mods will sort it out.

Anyway, I just wanted to recommend using either Knock Off or Toxic on Tentracruel rather than Acid Spray. They both help your team more against specially bulky pokemon than Acid Spray, which the opponent shouldn't usually switch out on anyway, as 2 Scalds is scarier than an acid spray and 1 boosted scald due to the burn chance. The other option would be to run sludge bomb to help beat grass/fairy pokemon and for more immediate power, but tbh they ususually switch out anyway.

Using Toxic/Knock Off on Tentacruel might also open up the option of using Focus Blast > Knock Off on Thundurus, which is often superior coverage, but it's basically just down to what you think you need more.

Thank you GotR for the reply, I think I will take your suggestion on using Knock Off on Tentacruel over Acid Spray! Thanks!

Hello there Pok3GBA and welcome to Smogon! This is such a nice team, having an offensive and defensive core in one team allows you to deal with various matchups so great choice! However, I do have some few suggestions here and there that'll hopefully help make your team even better:

First of all I don't agree with GotR's suggestion of using Knock Off over Acid Spray, indeed provides some nice support to your team but you'll find Acid Spray more beneficial given that your team is kinda weak to both Calm Mind Clefable if it has Flamethrower and Mega Sableye and Acid Spray is your only way to check both of them along with Mega Altaria which can very problematic if it has Fire Blast, you can use Clear Smog but Acid Spray has more benefits, so yeah keep Acid Spray on Tentacruel.

Another thing that is worth mentioning is that your team is extremely weak to Mega Manectric since it can OHKO most of your team so to fix this I suggest using Mixed Wall Hippowdon over Garchomp, Hippo is a mon that can fit easily in your defensive core instead of Garchomp thanks to its physical bulk that lets it check Mega Lopunny and ability to set up rocks too, and it's worth mentioning that this mixed wall set allows you to survive the 2HKO from Mega Manectric's Hidden Power Ice all of the time and OHKO back with Earthquake, you'll find the set below.

Lastly, I suggest running max Speed on Diancie since it allows you to outspeed non-Scarf Keldeo, Mega Charizards, Terrakion, Mega Gardevoir, max Speed Kyurem-Black, Garchomp and more.. as well as speed tie with the Lati@s and Gengar, yeah the mons that are below the 110 speed stat won't be able to stay in Diancie since they think you outspeed but in a 1v1 situation it might be really really bad.

So yeah that's all I have to say about your team but I'm sure some other users will be able to suggest more helpful stuff. I hope I helped and good luck! :toast:

Hi! it's really nice to see someone using a pokemon that was doomed by the introduction of the fairies, like hydreigon. The little three-headed dragon has an awesome typing and access to a series of coverage moves really interesting that alllow him to also hit fairies. There are some suggestions that I must give you in order to make your team more effective. The first suggestion I feel like telling you is about Diancie.

diancie.png
Diancie is a pokemon that is strong mainly for his good coverage and offensive stats, but if there is something that doesnt make it fall into the low tiers is its speed that makes him problematic, which is able to outspeed Keldeo, Garchomp and tie with Latwins. For this reason I suggest you under spoiler the fixed set.

Diancie @ Diancite
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 12 Atk / 244 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Moonblast
- Protect

thundurus.png
On a second moment I suggest you Raikou over Thundurus for various reasons: first of all, you lack defogger, but a spinner, and this makes bit more difficult the hazard removal, and for this reason a LO mon weak to Stealth isnt 100% reliable. More over, Raikou gives you protection against Manectric and opposing Thundurus, which could almost 6-0 your whole team, expecially in lategame. Also his speed allows him to tie with Starmie, who could be really dangerous with HP fire. Here the set I suggest for your team :)

Raikou @ Assault Vest
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
IVs: 30 HP / 30 Def
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Shadow Ball

hydreigon.png
Hydreigon is a pokemon with excellent offensive stats, however you arent using it with the proper nature, expecially if you add as option Superpower. I suggest you a nature like Naive or Hasty(Hasty is better). I also suggest you to change those 4 evs in HP, because, even tho they may seem useless, they allow you to take less damage from Stealth Rock. Also I'd take into consideration the option roost somewhere.

garchomp.png
Bulkychomp is one of the mons I appreciate the most in this metagame, however the speed youre using is a bit too much and could prevent you from tanking moves like Fakeout + Ice Punch from lopunny, so for this reason I suggest you a more correct spread so that you can tank and outspeed what you need (is outspeeding fast Tran really useful, when he cant kill you and you have other ways to get rid of it easily?)

Garchomp (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Rough Skin
EVs: 240 HP / 164 Def / 104 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock

tentacruel.png
ferrothorn.png
Tentacruel must obviously have Acid Spray, or you would be in serious trouble with Clefable, but what I really need to point out is that you dont need a Timid Nature o.o I suggest you a Bold nature instead. And give Power Whip>Curse to Ferrothorn!

In Synthesis heres the changes I proposed:

diancie.png
---> Evs Spread Changes
hydreigon.png
---> Naive Nature and Maybe Roost
thundurus.png
--->
raikou.png

garchomp.png
---> Slower, since It doesn't need this speed
tentacruel.png
---> Acid Spray and Bold Nature
ferrothorn.png
---> Power Whip > Curse

Hope I helped, good luck with your team! :D
