Hey! This is my first team I've made. I just recently entered the realm of competitive battling, and most of my experience is with doubles. Here's an offensive team I made, please criticize it as best you can.
Metagross @ Occa Berry
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP/236 Atk/12 Def/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Earthquake
- Explosion
- Stealth Rock
Standard lead Metagross. I usually run Meteor Mash over Earthquake, but Earthquake is getting more kills for me.
Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 156 HP/108 Atk/100 Def/144 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Taunt
- Stone Edge
My bulky water. I chose Gyarados because he dishes out a large amount of damage, and he taunts well.
Lucario (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Extremespeed
- Crunch
Lucario is my SD sweeper, designed to crush walls like Blissey.
Infernape (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 64 Atk/192 Spd/252 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Nasty Plot
- Flamethrower
- Close Combat
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Standard Nasty Plot MixApe. My old Infernape run Grass Knot over Nasty Plot, but Nasty Plot is working a lot better for me and I barely ever used Grass Knot anyway.
Jolteon (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 Def/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Shadow Ball
- Signal Beam
I chose SpecsJolt because I know how effective he can be, having had many of my teams owned by him. Signal Beam is there to own Celebi.
Azelf @ Expert Belt
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Psychic
- Flamethrower
- Grass Knot
Based on my experiences, it's a shame that Azelf is so commonly wasted as a lead because an offensive Azelf can be a brilliant sweeper. I'm running a Nasty Plot version, and with the moveset, Azelf can do a lot of damage.
I'm extremely impatient, and I like to hit big, and fast. In competitive battling, this style of play is probably foolish. Please help me optimize my team.
