Offensive (Ogerpon-Wellspring) (F) @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Power Whip / Wood Hammer
- Ivy Cudgel
- Encore / Superpower / U-turn / Knock Off
- Trailblaze / Spiky Shield / Superpower

[SET COMMENTS]
* Ogerpon-W is a very strong offensive threat with a wide movepool capable of adapting itself to a variety of threats in 1v1.
* Power Whip hits opposing Water- and Ground- Types like Primarina and Ursaluna. Wood Hammer may be used to not deal with Power Whip's 85% accuracy, though taking recoil may cause Ogerpon-W to lose some matchups that Power Whip would be a better fit for, such as against opposing Ogerpon-W.
* Ivy Cudgel muscles through Fire- and Ground-types like Volcarona, Heatran, and Landorus-T.
* Ogerpon-W's blisteringly fast base 110 Speed allows it to shut down many defensive threats that enjoy boosting their Defense stat such as Corviknight and Iron Crown by locking them into a status move with Encore.
* Superpower may be used to secure KOs on threats that would otherwise survive Ogerpon-W's STAB attacks such as bulky Choice Specs Porygon-Z and non-Counter Hisuian Goodra.
* U-Turn can KO bulkier, slower Hoopa-U sets that would survive Ogerpon-Wellspring's other moves.
* Knock Off can be used to outplay Custap Berry Pokemon such as Skeledirge and faster Choice Scarf users like Metagross.
* Trailblaze lets Ogerpon-Wellspring to get the jump on faster Pokemon that could potentially outplay it such as Encore + Disable Iron Valiant.
* Spiky Shield can be used to secure OHKOs against Pokemon like Custap Berry Skeledirge and can stop Fly from Landorus-T.

* Ogerpon-W's Speed is maximized to outspeed Alolan Ninetales and Speed tie itself in the mirror matchup. The rest of the EVs are placed to maximize its Attack.
* Because of Ogerpon-W's immense strength, versatility, and Speed, its moveset is completely flexible and can open a myriad of options for its partners. Unfortunately, Offensive Ogerpon-W can be overwhelmed by threats that can survive an attack and KO it back, such as Regidrago, so good partners that help Ogerpon-W overcome this issue like as Sylveon and Iron Crown are helpful.

* Holding its signature item, the Wellspring Mask, Ogerpon-Wellspring becomes a very strong offensive threat with a wide movepool capable of adapting itself to a variety of threats in 1v1.
* Power Whip is Ogerpon-Wellspring's strongest Grass-Type STAB, being able to hit opposing Water-Types like Primarina and Ground-types like Ursaluna. Wood Hammer may be used to compensate for Power Whip's 85 base accuracy, albeit taking recoil may cause Ogerpon-Wellspring to lose some matchups that Power Whip would cleanly obtain. adding a specific matchup or two here would be nice
* Ivy Cudgel is far and beyond Ogerpon-Wellspring's best Water-Type STAB, being able to outspeed and muscle through fire types like Volcarona and Heatran, and Ground types that would resist Power Whip like Landorus-Therian.
* Ogerpon-Wellspring's blisteringly fast 110 base Speed allows it to shut down many defensive threats that enjoy boosting their Defense stats such as Corviknight and Iron Crown by locking them into a status move via Encore. Superpower may be used to secure KOs on threats that would otherwise survive Ogerpon-W's STABs such as bulky Choice Specs Porygon-Z and Chople Berry Goodra-Hisui. U-turn can secure KOs against bulkier, slower Hoopa-Unbound that would survive Ogerpon-Wellspring's other moves. Knock Off can be used to outplay Custap Berry Pokemon such as Skeledirge and faster Choice Scarf users like Metagross.
* Trailblaze is used for Ogerpon-Wellspring to get the jump on faster matchups that could potentially outplay it such as Encore + Disable Iron Valiant. Spiky Shield can be used to scout moves from opposing Pokemon where would scouting be relevant?, secure KOs via contact damage such as against 4 Attack Gouging Fire physical Custap Berry users like (insert example) and Attack-uninvested Gouging Fire, and outplay opposing moves such as Disable a specific matchup would help. Swords Dance can be used for Ogerpon-Wellspring to muscle through matchups that would otherwise be annoying for it, such as against Reflect Cresselia, albeit this is only recommended should you choose not to use Encore as Encore deals with most threats that Swords Dance can I was trying to find where SD and Encore differed when I was writing the Charm Oger analysis but I really couldn't find much either, Encore was doing everything SD was and then more (including this matchup). Maybe talk with the QC team / other SV players to see why they might choose one over the other Finally, Superpower can be used in this slot instead. already mentioned elsewhere
*Ogerpon-Wellspring's Speed is maximized to outspeed Ninetales-Alola and to tie with itself in the mirror. The rest of the EVs are placed to maximize its Attack.
*Because of Ogerpon-W’s immense strength, versatility, and speed, its moveset can be completely flexible to open a myriad of options for its partners. Unfortunately, Offensive Ogerpon-W can be overwhelmed by threats that can survive an attack and KO it back, such as Gouging Fire and Regidrago, so good partners are ones that can cover up Ogerpon’s ability to only have four moves (insert good Ogerpon-W partners).

will want a second look, feel free to talk w/ me about specific changes - these are suggestions not decrees

- removed the scouting line on spiky shield, can't find a good example
- idk why sd is here over encore either, i asked qc and nobody responded

otherwise edited thanks for the qc input!

Superpower may be used to secure KOs on threats that would otherwise survive Ogerpon-W's STABs such as bulky Choice Specs Porygon-Z and Chople Berry Goodra-H.
I'm assuming you mean non-Chople Berry

In sections that cover multiple moves slashed together, would be easier to digest if they were separated into more smaller bullets with one for each move

looks fine gj 1/2
itchy_small-gif.399375

* Spiky Shield can be used to secure KOs via contact damage such as against physical Custap users like Urshifu-S (Unseen Fist, unfortunately, is an ability that exists. don't worry, we've all made this mistake before.)
Ground types that would resist Power Whip like Landorus-T. (remove "resist" and say "be neutral to" cuz no Ground type resists Grass-type attacks.)
Gouging Fire (just a reminder to remove all goug mentions.)
outplay opposing moves such as Disable from Iron Valiant. (don't you get Encored into Spiky Shield if you do that?)
non-Chople Berry Goodra-H. (252 Atk Wellspring Mask Ogerpon-Wellspring Superpower vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Goodra-Hisui: 296-350 (81.3 - 96.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO, imo just say "non-Counter Hisuian Goodra", since it doesn't 2HKO you without it and you 2HKO back.)
good partners that help Ogerpon-W overcome this issue are ones such as Urshifu-S (252+ Atk Urshifu Reversal (200 BP) vs. 0 HP / 244 Def Regidrago: 430-507 (79.4 - 93.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO, kind of shaky, just replace it with a Fairy-type)
this is only recommended should you choose not to use Encore as Encore deals with most threats that Swords Dance can. (doesn't this insinuate that Swords Dance is a bad move on oger-w since Encore can do anything it can but better? if so then please bring it up in the QC chat. same goes for Spiky Shield since the things you said in it weren't exactly real so idk we'll talk it there.)
would like to take a second look due to possible move deletion.

bern i think i edited + removed sd line, didnt seem like we hit consensus there
