Offensive OU Team

I believe that after all this time of BW being released, i have finally built a pretty strong team. This team was built to take on any threat in the OU tier through a heavy offensive approach. It has changed immensely since i first started using it so i'm not really too scared of changing anything so all advice is welcome. Please keep in mind while rating that i do not use any hacks in the creating of my pokemon so hidden power recommendations will most likely be ignored due to the annoying process of breeding for their necessary ivs.

THE TEAM

Pokemon #1

620.png

Mienshao @ Focus Sash
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Nature: Jolly (+Spe / -Sp. A)
- Taunt
- High Jump Kick
- Stone Edge
- U-Turn

Mienshao acts as the primary scout of this team and often grants me the momentum by turn 2. I can taunt safely on pokes that i believe will not attack with the focus sash to back me up in case i'm wrong. High Jump Kick hits insanely hard against just about anything not ghost or flying typed which leads to the use of Stone Edge as my second attack. U-Turn is to abuse regenerator and to scout any switches that i might foresee. Mienshao functions as a fantastic late-game sweeper as it can pick off many weakened threats by spamming HJK and taunting any annoying walls that it can handle. With a jolly nature and 252 Speed EVs i can outspeed any non-scarfed base 100s and threaten many of them or just U-Turn out to regain some health. if no entry hazards have been set up by the opponent i can even even rely on the focus sash more and revenge kill many common Dragon or Quiver dancers that have overstayed their welcome.

Pokemon #2

598.png

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Sp. D
Nature: Impish (+Def / -Sp. A)
- Protect
- Leech Seed
- Power Whip
- Stealth Rock

As this is an offensive team, Ferrothorn is my only wall. i Ev'd it to take hits as well on its special side as it does on its physical side. L eech seed is to cripple any non grass typed sweepers as well as acting as Ferrothorns only means of recovery outside of leftovers. Protect is to stall for leech seed damage as well as making predictions easier against things like scarfed Chandelure and Hydreigon. Power Whip is a fantastic move on this poke as it gains STAB and has pretty nice base power coming off of Ferrothorns already respectable attack. Stealth Rock is obvious but would gladly be replaced with spikes if another viable stealth rocker were to be added to my team.

Pokemon #3

609.png

Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 4 Hp / 252 Sp. A / 252 Spe
Nature: Modest (+Sp. A / -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Overheat
- Flamethrower
- Psychic

Chandelure is my main revenge killer on this team. The scarf allows him to outspeed every unboosted threat in OU minus Deoxys-S. *Shadow ball and flamethrower are my main STAB attacks with Overheat to annihilate anything not resisting it. Psychic is to eliminate any of the powerful fighting types this gen. To be honest I would really like to hear about something to replace this poke as it is too easy to set up on. Its tough to use Chandelure without its scarf because of its lackluster speed and with the scarf, being locked into a move means a free turn of set-up bait. *It is also weak to stealth rock which makes it tough to switch in multiple times in order to perform its job.

Pokemon #4

143.png

Snorlax @ Choice Band
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 40 Def / 176 SpD
Nature: Adamant (+Atk / -Sp. A)
- Return
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake
- Pursuit

Snorlax is my counter to many of the special attacking threats such as volcarona, lati@s and venusaur. With its great special bulk it can take boosted special attacks and strike back with a banded attack. Return is used as a powerful STAB attack with Fire Punch and Earthquake for coverage purposes. Pursuit destroys any psychic or ghost types that flee from the monstrosity that is Snorlax. The EV spread was taken from Smogon giving it max firepower with enough bulk on its defensive side to survive strong physical attacks such as a Choice banded TTars Stone Edge. The rest of the Evs are given to special defence to help it take special attacks.

Pokemon #5

121.png

Starmie @ Life Orb
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Sp. A / 252 Spe
Nature: Timid (+Spe / -Atk)
- Recover
- Thunderbolt
- Ice beam
- Hydro Pump

Starmie offers type coverage that helps to eliminate prominent threats like Gyarados and Salamence. Hydro pump is my powerful STAB attack that when boosted by life orb punches holes in just about any poke not resisting it. Natural Cure allows me to switch safely into any status move and recover on the switch out. Recover is to make up for life orbs recoil damage and gives starmie a longer lifespan on the battlefield. Starmie is also very threatening against enemy rain teams with the attack boost on Hydro Pump.

Pokemon #6

230.png

Kingdra @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: *252 Atk / 92 Sp. A / 164 Spe
Nature: Lonely (+Atk / -Def)
- Rain Dance
- Waterfall
- Outrage
- Hydro Pump

Kingdra is here for the sole purpose of ripping apart opposing weather teams. against rain teams it gets the swift swim bonus and extra power on its water attacks. Waterfall and Hydro Pump are the two main attacks and outrage is to hit pokes that dont get hit hard enough with its water attacks. Ferrothorn poses a problem to this set but once its out of the way Kingdra has a great time. Against sand, sun an hail teams all i have to do is eliminate their weather producer and their team will fall apart when i use rain dance.

Thanks for reading and please provide any feedback or recommendations you might have. Again i kind of want to replace Chandelure so if you have another good revenge killer in mind please let me know.

In my opinion, Heatran is a better replacement for Chandelure in this case, since it will save you the hassle of switching into SR, has about the same speed, and has about the same coverage.

Heatran | Choice Scarf | 252 SpA | 4 SpD | 252 Spe | Timid / Modest | Flash Fire | Fire Blast | Earth Power | Dragon Pulse | Overheat |

This will essentially accomplish the same revenge killing as Chandelure, hitting Fighting-hard with Fire Blast instead of Psychic (which is actually weaker, even SEly, than Fire Blast). The loss of a Fighting immunity is not too horrible, and the ability to switch in without losing 25% of your health is much better.

The only problem is that i dont really like the revenge killing that Chandelure provides because the lack of prominent threats to my team faster than Starmie makes just about anything thats only slightly faster almost obsolete. Also ive found that scarfed revenge killers are incredibly easy to set up on because of their relatively low attack and being locked into a move makes them very vulnerable for a turn

nice team but i reccomend u this snorlax:

Snorlax@Leftovers
Ability:Immunity
Evs:252 Atk/80 Hp/176 SpD
Nature:Sassy/Careful
-Return
-Curse
-Ice Punch/Fire Punch
-Brick Break/Superpower

As long curse boosts defence we need Hp and SpD.Just bring iy on Sp Attacker and when they will switch yeah free curse. And u can curse up when they are trying 2 toxic u.Belive me when u reach the +6 attack/+6 defence dying from poison is ANNOYING.When we look to moveset return is our STAB attack.Ice Punch hits things like Dragonite,Salamence while fire punch takes out Scizor,Ferrothorn and other annoyin stallers.I see u have some pokemon with ice attacks so i would choose fire punch. For the last slot fightning hits steel and rock types which attempt 2 block return.Choose Superpower if u want a one time hard hit.But Brick Break is for if u dont want 2 lose Atk and Def u gained by curse

Hey, got your PM.

The team itself is weak to some of the common threats in the metagame. Lack of Ground- type resist means, you'll be in panic when something like Excadrill shows its face and starts launching off Earthquakes. Sand sweepers, Excadrill, Landorus, Terrakion, Trick Room Reuniclus, and Volcarona under the sun can set-up on Chandelure , and sweep. Volcarona and TR Reuniclus even 2HKO Snorlax. Specs or LO Tornadus in the Rain is problematic with no Flying- resist. Stall is also problematic, I don't see how you can break past a well played Ferrothorn+Jellicent combo. Lastly, Rotom-W can cripple 4/6 of your members with W-o-W, while the rest are dispatched with super effective hits.

That's a lot of weaknesses to cover, so without ruining your synergy too much, try Taunt + SD Gliscor over Mienshao. Focus Sash "leads" are pretty much extinct, since you can't be sure what your opponent will be sending out from Team Preview, and sometimes it will be a bad match-up for you. Mienshao also seems like set-up fodder for a lot walls such as Skarmory and opposing Gliscor, and it will be stopped pretty easily without any boosts. Gliscor over Mienshao however, will make you safe against the aforementioned Sand Sweepers, bringing a valuable Ground- type resist, and finally, acting as a good answer vs. Stall with Swords Dance + Taunt. Like I said you're not losing much of anything from this change, as Gliscor can also cripple walls, and even sweep late game with SD boosts, while checking the aforementioned threats.

Trickroom Reuniclus and Specs Tornadus is still annoying, and you can try SDefensive Jirachi over Ferrothorn for this reason. You have Rain teams covered with Starmie + Kingdra, both being absolute monsters with the boosts they get under the rain. Jirachi brings an important Flying- type resist to be able to take on Specs Tornadus better, while also being able to handle TR Reuniclus. Jirachi can work as a Special Defensive sponge just like Ferrothorn, though it it comes with the added benefits of Wish-Support for your team (especially Snorlax) and has better attacking options against the threats it walls with Body Slam + Iron Head (again Paralysis support is helpful for your team).

Try Hidden Power Grass on Starmie and Energy Ball on Chandelure over Thunderbolt and Psychic respectively. I can't afford to suggest anymore members, but this should help you against Rotom-W without losing coverage. You can nail Rotom on the switch, as it will attempt to switch into those two a lot. Lastly, change Snorlax to the Curse set. The Curse set takes Special attacks much better and set-up vs something like Specs Latios, and helps you against Volcarona, possibly crippling it with Body Slam. Try a spread of 188 HP / 104 Def / 216 SpD with Curse | Body Slam | Fire Punch | Rest or Crunch, or even Earthquake. Play carefully against Rock Polish Landorus. If it becomes too much of a problem, try out Rotom-W over Kingdra, it also helps you against Rain.
