First of all, thanks to everyone who reads this post and for those that can give constructive criticism feel free to post your thoughts.
To get started:
I thought to myself what kind of team i have the most fun playing with and hyper offense came to mind. Then i started thinking what kind of offensive team i wanted to play with and decided to make a spikes team. Seriously what is more fun than stacking hazzards and watch them suffer with every switch only to deny them later the opportunity to spin them away. Sorry for the broken english :P
Greninja makes a splash:
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Spikes
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Extrasensory
Spikes being the focus point this set aims to maximize greninja offensive capabilities with the combination Hydro pump as a powerfull stab, Ice Beam for a secondary Stab with 100% accuracy and a great way to deal with defog users and those annoing dragons and Extrasensory to reliably hit Keldeo and Mega Venusaur. Greninja usually generates alot of switches and spikes can be used with a little of prediction and it also maske greninja a ground type to deny volt switch and other electric moves.
Rotom-Wash does your undies:
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 212 Def / 44 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 28 Spe
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
Typical defensive set for balance teams with minor changes to fit an offensive team, volt switch creates opportunities to safely bring threats to the field and its a great pivot to use with greninja. Sill undecided if Painsplit is the wat to go or if rest paird with a chesto berry is better fit.
Mamoswine carries the rocks:
Mamoswine @ Focus Sash
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Endeavor
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
Mamoswine reliably sets up Stealth Rocks, and with focus sash and Oblivious it gets the job done. Endeavor is fun to use and really effective with Ice shard that also checks dragons and a very useful revenge killing tool even after its Focus Sash has been broken.
NEW: LATIAS
Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Healing Wish
- Defog
Latias while keeping momentum and thretening with a life orb Draco meteor and Psyshock, can still support the team with healing wish and Defog. Defog may not seem like a good idea on a spike team, but as users suggested its a nice way to have the ability to clean the field and not have for example a sticky web the whole time. I would have never thought of using Latias healing wish, always used Latios, but its seems like a good idea to give the sweepers one extra opportunity to get their jobs done.
Scizor is Back Baby:
Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 84 Atk / 176 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off
First i thougt on bringing Scizor to the team because is the Most powerfull U-Turn user and fits in a voltswitch, U-Turn core, but then i decided against that and use a set where it can clean up late game thanks to wearing the opposition with the hazards. With Roost and SD it can really get the job done and with the 176 SpD helps to survive Mega Gardevoir's Focus Blast as well as many Special attacks.
Currently Testing:
New Breloom
Breloom (M) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Spore
- Mach Punch
- Bullet Seed
- Rock Tomb
With Skarmory gone from the team i know changes need to be made for the 6th pokemon, so chandelure no more and im currently testing Breloom. Breloom can offer spore support while keepeng momentum and helps take down threats with its focus shash, still not sure if having 2 focus shash users is a great idea but on paper it dosnt look so bad. Bullet seed as a main stab paired with priority Mach Punch for the main stabs and Rock Tomb to slowdown Switches so it can be dealt with later.
OLD MEMBERS:
Skarmory Joins the fun:
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 Spe
Bold Nature
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Roost
- Taunt
This set is focus on setting layers of spikes while taunting defog users. Whirlwind makes Skarmory a "late game sweeper" and wears down opposing pokemons and also works as a pivot switch. Roost keeps him healty and can wall many threats in the OU Tier.
Wait what? Chandelure?:
Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 212 HP / 40 SpA / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Fire Blast
- Energy Ball
- Trick
At first look it may seem like the weak link on the team but because of its typing it can deny Rapid Spin and get a KO with help from the choice Scarf, im still not sure about the EV Spreads it may need some work, maybe a more offensive spread is better, but its amazing how this pokemon can cover Skarmorys weaknesses. Fire Flast with Flash fire can put some worck and with Shadow ball and energy ball it gets decent coverage. Trick as the final slot can be use to criple defensive pokemons but still im note sure if its the right move for the last slot.
I know this team is not great but It is Fun, so i was hoping if you can share some insight to make it better. Thanks :D
