[SET COMMENTS]
With an impressive physical statline, Great Tusk smashes through the competition, providing great utility and offensive presence all in one slot. Focus Sash synergizes well, as it lets Great Tusk take an attack from Flutter Mane and KO it in return and get rid of popular Air Balloon users such as Glimmora, Heatran, and Raging Bolt through the combination Rapid Spin and Earthquake. Earthquake is Great Tusk's key STAB move, threatening Poison-, Electric-, and Fire-types like Toxapex, Iron Hands, Gouging Fire, and Ceruledge. Headlong Rush is another option to secure an OHKO on Greninja after Stealth Rock. Knock Off hits both Dragapult and Latios hard while providing general utility against the rest of the tier such as removing Choice Scarf, Rocky Helmet, and Heavy Duty Boots from the opposing team. Alternatively, Ice Spinner can be used to improve the Flying matchup, as it deals with Dragonite and Gliscor. Rapid Spin plays an important role by removing entry hazards from Great Tusk's side and boosting its Speed, allowing Great Tusk to outspeed many prominent threats such as Choice Specs Flutter Mane, Dragapult, and Latios. Taunt can be used instead to notably prevent Skarmory, Ting Lu, and Corviknight from setting up entry hazards, setting up itself, or using utility moves like Defog, Roost, and Whirlwind. Lastly, Great Tusk can set Stealth Rock up, ensuring opposing Focus Sashes will not impede the team's progress in the game.
Assault Vest Iron Hands and Gallade are both great partners, as they can absorb special hits that would OHKO Great Tusk from foes like Hatterene, Choice Scarf Greninja, and Choice Scarf Enamorus. They also aid Great Tusk, should its Focus Sash be disabled, by checking and OHKOing in retaliation popular Choice Specs users like Dragapult, Latios, and Flutter Mane, while they both appreciate Great Tusk's ability to remove entry hazards from the field. They both come with their matchups of predilection: Flying and Fairy for Iron Hands and Poison and Water for Gallade. Iron Hands takes on Primarina, Hatterene, and Corviknight, while Gallade slashes through Amoonguss, Galarian Weezing, and Keldeo. Choice Scarf Sneasler can deal with Grass- and Fairy-types such as the Ogerpon formes, Primarina, and Iron Valiant while retaining momentum with U-turn. With its especially large movepool, Iron Valiant can help Great Tusk in many ways, from getting rid of Flying-type Pokemon with BoltBeam coverage like Landorus, Corviknight, and Gliscor to deleting physical walls such as Sableye and Hippowdon with STAB Moonblast, and it appreciates Great Tusk's ability to remove Assault Vest from Tornadus-T. Water-type wallbreakers like Keldeo and Urshifu-R also synergize quite well with Great Tusk, as Great Tusk provides a useful Electric immunity, allowing them to focus on dismantling opposing defensive Pokemon such as Corviknight and Skarmory. Zamazenta benefits a lot from the hazard control Great Tusk offers, as it lets Zamazenta run safely an IronPress or Choice Band set without worrying about entry hazards. Finally, Hisuian Lilligant provides some utility in the form of Sleep Powder and can also aid offensively in the Flying, Water, and Ground matchups with its Victory Dance set, effectively suppressing the likes of Urshifu-R, Swampert, and Landorus.
