Offensive UU... A change of play

Greetings, my name is Jordy, and I know myself as an weak strategist. Unfortunately it truly shows in how I play pokemon and more specifically, team building. Oddly enough i like to make teams that are more defensive even though i see myself as an impatient person. Eventually i got bored of staying near the 1100 ranking mark and i saw no way of breaking through it.

Skip ahead a couple terrible attempts at making a pokemon team, i come up with this team. I peaked at about 1270 ranking, and as i learn to use the team more i will get better.

Froslass (F) @ Focus Sash
Trait: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 Hp
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Ice Beam- STAB ice beam can wear down a Pokemon if need be. It just allows me not to be taunt bait as well as threaten gligar which, in all honesty are crazy bulky.
- Taunt- Allows Ms Froslass to stop any sort of entry hazards early game. Also helpful against some togekiss' because they tend to try thunder wave.
- Spikes- the reason why froslass is used in uu. It can either set up two layers or one layer and use destiny bond to create the double down.
- Destiny Bond The source of the mind games. With good players i can normally set up more layers because they switch out on predicted D bonds and gives me another free layer.

Conclusion- almost always my lead, struggles against leading blastoise but that is mainly it. I love froslass because from the get go it puts the opponent in a tough spot. Gives me free layers, and possibly take down one of their pokes.

Hitmonlee (M) @ Normal Gem
Trait: Unburden
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Fake Out- Gives lee the great unburden boost that doubles his speed.
- Close Combat - STAB close combat is a very powerful attack. It can put a nice dent into any pokemon that does not resist it.
- Earthquake- Earthquake + Stone Edge are there for coverage reasons.
- Stone Edge- Earthquake + Stone Edge are there for coverage reasons.

Conclusion- Lee is a great pokemon for late game sweeps. If i can tell that lee can sweep late game, i can normally wear down the opponents team to the point where the remaining pokes will be finished off by CC. If i dont see a late game sweep happening Lee can still revenge kill and wear down the Opponent for another poke to sweep.

Yanmega (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Speed Boost
EVs: 255 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Air Slash- Powerful STAB with flinch potential. It has saved me from a loss before and it will again.
- Bug Buzz Other STAB, powerful as well. Good for taking out the psychic pokemon if i see a hitmonlee sweep in the near future (yee)
- Protect - For obvious reasons...
- Hidden Power [Ground]- nice coverage, can hurt many pokemon that resist Yanmega's Stab moves.

Conclusion- Normally does not do the late game sweeping. Occasionally i will see an opportunity to sweep, but mainly it will threaten and dent the pokemon that would otherwise stop a sweep.

Roserade (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes - Helps me wear down bulkier pokemon that are able to live some of my attacks. It limits defensive pokemon that can normally wall me.
- Sludge Bomb- Strong STAB attack that can do a nice chunk to most pokemon.
- Leaf Storm - Heavy hitting STAB for bulky water types that can take alot of hits from my team.
- Sleep Powder- good for slower pokes or an expected switch, it allows me to set up with PZ aswell.

Conclusion: Roserade is a great poke. It can accomplish three important tasks. 1: do a lot of damage. 2: Wear down pokes with Tspikes. 3: Put pokes to sleep. Very versatile and is a great poke on my team.

Porygon-Z @ Life Orb
Trait: Download
EVs: 76 HP / 252 SAtk / 180 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Tri Attack- STAB move. Can be very powerful if i get the SpA boost. It wrecks shop.
- Dark Pulse- Good coverage. Takes out the ghost types that are immuner to tri attack.
- Ice Beam- Good for taking out roderades. I am contemplating using ice beam or thunderbolt but for the moment, it is ice beam.
- Agility- What allows this powerhouse to clean up.

Conclusion: Nothing much can take more than two hts from this beast aside from a few pokes such as, registeel, empoleon, and snorlax. It is another poke that works as a late game sweeper or a poke that can soften of the team enough for another poke to sweep through.

Darmanitan (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Flare Blitz- FULL POWER.. nuff said.
- Earthquake- Edgequake
- Stone Edge- Edgequake
- U-turn- Nice for momentum reasons. Great move all around paired with Darmanitans high attack.... :D.

As pokemon, not many are huge threats. It's the combination of pokemon that seem to spell my defeat. The main problem of my team is the LaxBro core. It can, with a good player, annihilate my team. Sometime paired with a gligar and it will be near impossible to break through.

Changes are in RED

Thanks for reading.

Cool team, but it definitely could use some changes. Starting off, Zoroark does not seem like a good fit at all for this team. If the team is not built around him specifically, he probably doesn't deserve to be on it IMO. I would recommendreplacing Zoroark with either Specs Raikou, Specs Rotom-C, or Offensive Roserade. Your team in its current form gets walled by bulky waters, who can tank a few attacks from all of your team members. Raikou can keep momentum with Volt Switch, and outspeeds and 1HKO's most offensive pokemon and bulky waters when holding Specs. Rotom-C hits extremely hard with Leaf Storm, and you can never have enough ground resists on an offensive team. It's loss in speed definitely hinders it, though. Roserade puts an insane amount of pressure on the opponent, and literally nothing can switch in safely without being demolished by Leaf Storm or Sludge bomb. Even it's counters aren't safe, being crippled by Sleep Powder. These are the sets I would recommend trying:

Raikou @ Choice Specs
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Rash Nature (+SAtk, -SDef)
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Grass] / Hidden Power [Ice]
- Aura Sphere
- Volt Switch

Rotom-C @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Leaf Storm
- Trick

Roserade (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Sludge Bomb
- Leaf Storm
- Sleep Powder
- Toxic Spikes

One last tip I can give you is to replace Earthquake or Stone Edge with Rapid Spin. For pokes like Darmanitan and Yanmega to thrive, you desperately need to keep rocks off the field, and Lee can sacrifice himself if he is at low health to spin and open the way for your other sweepers. Rapid Spin can also activate Unburden if you expect your opponent to switch out and you want the rocks gone. Other than that, awesome job, and hope I helped.

Thanks for the suggestions, i will try out all three of those pokes and see which one i like. :D Same with rapid spin

Hey ! That's a nice offensive team ! Good job ;)

But I see that you have a huge weakeness to Jolly Scarf Darmanitan, only Hitmonlee will outspeed with Unburden (I think it's +2 ...) or you can risk the tie with your own Darmanitan, but nothing wants to take a hit ... Even Yanmega will not outspeed with one speed boost because you run Modest nature (don't really know about speed mechanisms but even with one speed boost, Jolly Scarf Darmanitan has a higher speed than Modest Yanmega).

You can test Mixed Sweeper Sharpedo over Yanmega. It does the same thing, killing the Psychic/Ghost types for Hitmonlee without the Stealth Rock weakeness and has a higher speed than Jolly Scarf Darmanitan with one speed boost. Moreover, Sharpedo can easily threat Chandelure, Victini with Crunch/Hydro Pump and even Gligar with Ice Beam, whitout those pokes in the opponent's team, Hitmonlee will have fun time =)

The set is in the Sharpedo's thread : http://www.smogon.com/bw/pokemon/sharpedo

Hope I've helped ! Sorry for my bad English ... Have fun with that team ;)
