Offensive Mareanie leverages its natural bulk, typing and Regenerator to invest in its Special Attack, making it much more threatening than the defensive variant. Ice Beam hits Ground- and Grass-types like Mudbray, Toedscool, and Foongus super effectively, as well as hitting Vullaby. Mud Shot allows Mareanie to hit a variety of Pokemon: Elekid, Chinchou, Stunky, Tinkatink, Glimmet, and opposing Mareanie, with the bonus of making Mareanie faster than the latter two after one hit. Sacrificing some of its Special Defense, Mareanie invests heavily into its Special Attack which improves its damage rolls against much of the tier, notably allowing it to 2HKO Foongus with Ice Beam after Stealth Rock. Due to the loss of bulk, however, Mareanie has a harder time defending against Pokemon like Alolan Sandshrew or Stunky. Tera Dragon protects Mareanie from Elekid and Chinchou, while Tera Ghost allows Mareanie to escape Gothita's Shadow Tag and block Rapid Spin from Toedscool and Alolan Sandshrew.

Mareanie complements Pokemon that are threatened by Mienfoo, such as Alolan Sandshrew. In return, Alolan Sandshrew can remove entry hazards with Rapid Spin, which helps Mareanie live longer despite its lessened bulk. Grookey is a great partner, as it can check the Ground-types that threaten Mareanie, with the Grassy Terrain also keeping Mareanie healthy and halving the power of Earthquake. Toedscool fills a similar role to Grookey as it can check Ground-types while being a better switch-in to Electric-types than Grookey, in addition to its ability to clear hazards. Dark-type teammates that can take advantage of a Gothita trapping Mareanie are also appreciated.

Mareanie puts a new spin on its game in LC with an offensive set on what is usually a defensive staple not sure you should be referencing other sets, but you could say smth like “despite its role as a defensive wall, Mareanie puts a new spin on its game with an offensive set”. Would check in with hacker/other qc ppl ok this, but you could probably just lead with the next sentence instead and take this out . Offensive Mareanie leverages its natural bulk, typing and Regenerator to invest in its Special Attack offenses, making it much more threatening than the passive defensive can still say more passive though variant. Ice Beam hits Ground- and Grass-types like Mudbray, Toedscool, and Foongus super effectively. Mud Shot allows Mareanie to hit a variety of Pokemon: Elekid, Chinchou, Stunky, Tinkatink, Glimmet, and opposing Mareanie speed drop too. Deviating from usual defensive EV spreads, iirc you should focus on this set, but you could say rather than special defense? Mareanie invests heavily into its Special Attack which improves its damage rolls against much of the tier, notably allowing it to 2HKO Foongus with Ice Beam after Stealth Rock. Due to the loss of bulk, however, Mareanie has a harder time defending against Pokemon Alolan Sandshrew.

In return, Alolan Sandshrew can remove entry hazards with Rapid Spin, which helps Mareanie live longer despite greatly due to its lessened bulk. Grookey is a great partner for Mareanie, as it can check the Ground-types that threaten Mareanie, with the Grassy Terrain also keeping Mareanie healthy and reducing earthquake damage?. could also mention toeds as something that fits both of these categories. Dark-type teammates that can take advantage of a Gothita trapping Mareanie are also appreciated.

Mud Shot allows Mareanie to hit a variety of Pokemon: Elekid, Chinchou, Stunky, Tinkatink, Glimmet, and opposing Mareanie, with the bonus Speed drop assisting Mareanie against the latter two foes. i assume you mean these 2 because they end up slower after drop, just reframe slightly so that’s clear. Sacrificing some of its Special Defense, Mareanie invests heavily into its Special Attack which improves its damage rolls against much of the tier, notably allowing it to 2HKO Foongus with Ice Beam after Stealth Rock.
