Regarding Top Cut, we will go with
11 Rounds of swiss, with Round 10 in the below format:
9-0 Player is paired down with the 9 players that are 8-1, forming a 10 person bracket.
36 players with a 7-2 record will be facing each other in their own bracket.
Round 11 will then have 2 possible options, depending on the result of the pairing with the 9-0 player.
Scenario #1: 9-0 player wins and obtains a 10-0 record
This would result in a 6-person bracket, involving the 10-0 player, the 4 players that are 9-1, and a single player who is 8-2. The remaining 22 players with an 8-2 record will play in their own bracket.
After that, it depends on the pairing with the 8-2 player that was paired into the other bracket. If the 8-2 player loses, then the result is 16 players remaining for a nice even top cut. If they win, then the result is 17 players.
Scenario #2: 9-0 player loses
Round 11 essentially maintains the 6-person bracket and the 22-person bracket as mentioned in the previous scenario. The result would be then be 3 players with a 10-1 record, and 14 players with a 9-2 record, resulting in 17 players.
Regardless, if we have 17 players, will have the
16th ranked player and the 17th ranked player face off and the winner will become the 16th seed for top cut.
