...yeah. Tried netBattle for a little bit, got distracted by other things until I had my curiosity repiqued for Pokemon by hearing D/P would have Wifi. Lurked around for a little bit until I decided to try my hand at this "team-building" thing.
The general strategy behind this team (1v1) is to try and abuse Trick Room to its fullest extent: set it up with a wall and then swap to a tough "sweeper" the opponent is least prepared for. In addition, most of the popular sweepers people are talking about (Garchomp, Infernape et al) rely heavily on their speed to survive: take that away with Trick Room and suddenly the 4+ sweeper team with paper mache armor doesn't look so hot. Since getting a Trick Room off isn't a guarantee, however, I tried to include Pokemon who could hold their own without it. Hopefully this team can setup the sweepers for a rampage quickly, and if that's not possible grind down the other side until an opportunity presents itself.
Since I'm building for Wifi, I tried to avoid including legendaries in the list (either because I don't want to repeatedly catch and check their IVs, or I didn't get the promotional ones) and tried to follow the "only one type of item per Pokemon" battle tower rule to force myself to use something other than Leftoversx6. I also assumed Double Teaming/OHKOs will be in play. Question marks by move(s) indicate I'm not sure on what would be the best choice, and any input is appreciated.
Trick Roomers
Bronzong@Leftovers
Levitate
Sassy, 252 HP/128 each def/spdef
Trick Room
Heal Block/Gyro Ball/Rest (?)
Toxic
HP: Dragon
I like this guy: 10 or so type resistances and only one 2x weakness (fire) that apprently isn't that common anyway. Team wall that can setup Trick Room when he doesn't have anything better to do, although I'm curious how badly I need Rest and if I should go for an HP type other than dragon.
Dusknoir@Focus Strip
Pressure
Brave, 252 HP/252 att
Trick Room
Disable
Fire Punch
Ice Punch
This is probably going to be the lead Pokemon in most cases where Bronzong is likely to wind up in a bad matchup. Focus Strip guarantees that it can survive at least long enough to get Trick Room going, and if it winds up going against a choicer it can lock them down with Disable. Ice Punch is self-explanatory, but I went with Fire Punch instead of Thunder to give me some way to deal with steel types.

Haze
Rapid Spin
Surf
Ice Beam
Not much to say about this one, really. Beefy water to help deal with Spikes (which will be an issue for this team) and Haze to deal with BPers/Double Team. Gave it Beautiful Skin to prevent my opponent from locking down and KOing my hazer. Surf's a counter to Infernape assuming he gets caught with his pants down in Trick Room.
Spiritomb@BrightPowder
Pressure
Quiet, 252 def/252 spdef
Taunt
Dark Pulse
Double Team
Pain Split
Acts as PP denial (which could be workable if people don't shark PP maxes out the wazoo)/BP hate. Double Team up, Taunt if necessary, Pain Split away damage, and use Dark Pulse to finish the opponent off.
Sweepers
Rhyperior@Black Steel Orb
Solid Rock
Brave, 252atk/252def/4HP
Crunch/Stone Edge/Megahorn (?)
Earthquake
Ice Fang
Swords Dance
Black Steel orb halves Rhyperior's speed, but who cares? It's already slower than Christmas. Swap in once Trick Room's going and lol at the fact that you run circles around Ninjask. Swords Dance whenever you can get a free turn: if you live long enough to get two or three dances in chances are you'll be able to win without Trick Room up anyway.
Slowking@Quick Claw
Own Tempo
Quiet, 252 sattk/252 HP
Ice Beam
Grass Knot
Trick Room
Nasty Plot
This is probably the Pokemon I'm most "meh" about on this team. The problem I found with trying to get a slow Pokemon with high satt/sdef is that, well, they don't really exist. For this spot I switched between Gardevoir, Togekiss, Exeggutor(lol) before settling with the current Slowking. I'm wondering if for this spot I should through in a fast special sweeper (Lucario, Azelf) at the risk of being caught in a bad situation if it's forced to come in while Trick Room's still up.
Other thoughts/stuff I'd like to work in
Usually this is the part where people put the laundry list of what ADV Pokemon their team can pwn, but I don't have enough experience to make a list like that and have it be worth anything, so meh.
I'd like to include Stealth Rock, but ATM only Rhyperior (who has better things to do) and Bronzong can learn it. Bronzog could probably drop Toxic and be okay, but then it's looking at the prospect of being walled by anything that can outlast its manly 79 base sattk.
A Pokemon to replace Slowking. Togekiss is probably my other choice, mainly because it's speed (80) is fast enough to be workable outside of Trick Room, but still means it goes first against Garchomp/Infernape/Gyrados/etc. It's another ice weak Pokemon though.
Possibly a Sheer Cold/something/something/Ice Beam or Surf/ Lapras to do double duty as a beefy water/wall killer.
Possibly a Magnezone: base speed of 60 plus decent sattk though 70 HP/90 sdef is kinda eh for a Pokemon that's going to be expected to switch in to incoming fire.
Any comments would be appreciated.
