Oh snap girl, he's at it again! [OU RMT]

INTRODUCTION
Welcome to my RMT thread! This is the second team I've created. Although my first team was rather successful, I've started to get bored with it. Thus, with the help of my clanmate, Organic, I've created my second team! As usual, I've tried to make a team with Pokemon I enjoy using. This team also utilizes the synergy between the teammates, as well as a general resistance to Spikes. This team is meant for standard WiFi, so keep that as a note when rating my team and making suggestions.

This team was originally based off my physical Electivire and Curselax, so please don't suggest me to swap them out for a different Pokemon. However, I'm totally open to item/moveset changes for both of them.

So, without further adieu, here's my second team!

THE SURPRISING LEAD
407.png

Fawkes (Roserade) @ Focus Sash
Type: Grass/Poison
Ability: Natural Cure
Gender: Male
252 SpA/252 Speed/4 HP
Timid
- Sleep Powder
- Toxic Spikes
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Somewhat generic lead, but hey, it works. Sleep Powder assures me at least one layer of Toxic Spikes, which makes it easier for Electivire and Empoleon to sweep. Leaf Storm offers powerful STAB and OHKO's Swampert, while HP Fire takes care of other grass types. Although I'm not crazy about Roserade, he's sort of cool and makes the team work.

THE ELECTRIC SWEEPING YETI
466.png

Electivire (Gustav) @ Life Orb
Type: Electric
Ability: Motor Drive
Gender: Male
252 Att/252 Speed/4 HP
Jolly
- Thunderpunch
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake
- Cross Chop
Another weird set, right? My clanmate Cole actually invented this. With a Jolly nature, Electivire reaches 317 speed, which is enough to outspeed base 90's w/o a speed boost. However, if I predict well enough, Gustav can get a Motor Drive boost and then he can really wreck havoc. Thunderpunch is for STAB and flying types (bar Zapdos), Ice Punch takes care of Celebi, Earthquake can be used to revenge kill Metagross, and Cross Chop makes Dark types cry. In addition to sweeping, this Electivire also makes a decent revenge killer, especially once he gets a Motor Drive boost.

THE CURSELAX
143.png

Snorlax (Edvard) @ Leftovers
Type: Normal
Ability: Thick Fat
Gender: Male
168 HP/120 Def/220 SpD
Careful
- Curse
- Return
- Crunch
- Rest
Oh, how I love Snorlax! My big, squishy behemoth of a special wall <3 The one Pokemon I try to keep on my team is Snorlax. Other than being my special wall, he's also my favorite Pokemon. So, Snorlax stays. Edvard can handle almost any special threat thrown at him with the exception of a Focus Blast. However, a non boosted Focus Blast won't OHKO him, even with SR damage. Curse is to boost my stats on a switch or during a stall match, Return is for STAB. I would use Body Slam, however, Toxic Spikes nullifies the point of paralysis (bar steel and other poison types). Crunch takes care of ghosts and Psychics, and Rest is for health recovery.

THE SURPRISING PHYSICAL WALL
110.png

Weezing (Tossico) @ Black Sludge
Type: Poison
Ability: Levitate
Gender: Male
252 HP/252 Def/4 SpA
Bold
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
Weezing is the ultimate pendulum fighting counter. He takes the physical hits on my team, and synergizes perfectly with Snorlax, Electivire and Empoleon. Weezing can take the Ground attacks that Electivire fears, while Snorlax can handle the special attacks that make Weezing shit his pants! Empoleon can take the uncommon Psycho Cuts from an Absol that Weezing also doesn't like. Flamethrower eliminates Scizor, Lucario, and physical Jirachi. Thunderbolt is for hitting Machamp and pretty much everything else (except Electivire). Now, most people ask why I don't use a Taunt Gliscor. Although Gliscor is faster and has access to instant recovery, he has a huge disadvantage: he has a x4 Ice Weakness, while Weezing doesn't. Plus, Weezing also adds in surprise factor. Yay!

THE STEEL PENGUIN
395.png

Empoleon (Re) @ Life Orb
Type: Water/Steel
Ability: Torrent
252 SpA/252 Speed/4 HP
Modest
- Agility
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Surf
In addition to being my late game sweeper, he's also my primary special sweeper. After an Agility, Empoleon outspeeds everything. With Life Orb recoil, Torrent is able to activate, allowing Re to tear enemies to pieces with STAB Surfs. Ice Beam takes care of Dragons, while Grass Knot takes care of Swampert. Empoleon also synergizes with Electivire by directing Thunderbolts at him, allowing Electivire to score a Motor Drive Boost and wreck havoc.

THE GENERIC REVENGE KILLER
330.png

Flygon (Egon) @ Choice Scarf
Type: Ground/Dragon
Ability: Levitate
252 Atk/252 Speed/4 HP
Jolly
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- U-Turn
- Stone Edge
Although I prefer to use strange, somewhat unpredictable sets, there's not much that can compare to the revenge killing abilities of a ScarfGon. That being said, Flygon is my revenge killer. With a Jolly nature, I can outspeed a neutral natured +1 DD Salamence and OHKO with Stone Edge. I prefer Dragon Claw over Outrage because Outrage forces me to be locked in for 2 turns with a chance of confusion, which allows the opponent to switch out. STAB Earthquakes can seriously dent steels, while U-Turn allows me to scout and switch to the appropriate counter.

CONCLUSION
So, there you have it. I'm open to suggestions and criticism, so don't hold back :D Thanks for taking the time for reading my thread and rating my team ^_^

Hi this is a pretty good team. It is also nice to see people using Empoleon as I think he is very underated as a sweeper.
I am not sure about your lead and it looks like your team needs entry hazards. Also Empoleon really needs toxic spikes to be effective otherwise bulky waters wall it. I cannot stress this point enough.

If you did want to chage your lead I would go for a Roserade lead which can get toxic spikes up pretty fast and sleep a counter.

I've actually considered a Roserade lead, but I'm somewhat weary about it. I'd be losing coverage that Gengar gives, but in return I'd be helping Empoleon sweep. Plus that only leaves me with one special sweeper, which bothers me.

A few small things. For Electivire to work you want things that draw electric attacks, things like Suicune and Gyarados, NOT Empoleon as you want that to sweep, you don't want to set up and then say "ooh theres an electric attack coming I'll forget about my stat boosts and get Electivire 1 measly speed boost. Again on the subject of Electivire, what the hell is the point of Jolly when you want the motor drive boost? Jolly Mamoswine and Lucario I understand but when youre gonna get a speed boost what is the point?

Now for Gengar. With his frailty and the Focus Sashes around theres no point. Azelf can OHKO with Psychic. Most leads can OHKO him whilst he can only 2HKO back and also theres so many anti leads and priority that gengar will die any generally not kill the other lead.

Your threat list is terrrible. Who cares about Medicham...seriously. Tangrowth is in UU for a reason, as is Rhyperior, Dugtrio and Sceptile.

Overall this team is made from alot of outclassed pokemon and the poor pokemon who aren't seeing much seeing much use due to new threats and replacements. The worst thing is that you have no Stealth Rock. Without it Empoleon and Electivire can't OHKO more things than you'd expect. You don't really have any really powerful sweepers or defenders. If I had to give this team a number out of ten i would choose five.

Cool team, but there are a few changes I would make. First off, I suggest using a Roserade lead like ginganinja suggested. Roserade is probably the best user of Toxic Spikes in OU, and can easily get both layers down against many common OU leads, such as Metagross, Hippowdon, and Swampert. I would use a set of Toxic Spikes, Sleep Powder, Grass Knot, and Hidden Power Ice; then, a spread of 4 Hp / 252 SpA / 252 Spe and a Timid nature (item Focus Sash). Pretty simple, just sleep opposing Pokes and then lay down Toxic Spikes. If you see the opportunity to get a kill, then go for it. Hidden Power Ice is a good choice for surprising Gliscor and Flygon, as well as OHKOing Salamence that may switch in hoping to get some free Dragon Dances.

On Electivire, I think you should try out a different set. Try a set of Thunderbolt, Flamethrower, Hidden Power Ice, and Cross Chop; then an EV spread of 36 Atk / 252 SpA / 220 Spe, a Mild nature, and the item Expert Belt. This Electivire is a very effective mixed attacker once he gets a motor drive boost, and can deal quite a bit of damage to the opposing team. While Electivire's weaker attacking stat is special attack, his moves on the special spectrum actually offer more power than their physical counterparts (i.e. Thunderbolt vs Thunderpunch). The 36 Atk EVs guarentee a OHKO on standard Blissey after Stealth Rock damage, or in your case, after a turn of Toxic Spikes damage.

I suggest making a minor change to Empoleon's set. Instead of using Grass Knot, I encourage you to use Substitute (assuming you decide to use Roserade). Then, change Life Orb to a Petaya Berry. This Empoleon set is much more effective at demolishing teams...once it has an Agility under its belt, the only thing that can stop its sweep is Scarf Flygon and the rare Scarf Lucario / Salamence. First turn Agility, then Sub down until the Petaya Berry and Torrent activates. Then, demolish the opposing team with what is essentially a +2 Surf. Don't worry too much about bulky waters, as you can outstall them relatively easily thanks to Toxic Spikes and Substitute.

Other than that its a pretty good team, and I admire you for using your favorite Pokemon instead of Pokemon arguably better...thats why I didnt suggest changing Weezing xD. Hope I helped, and good luck! =)

I'll probably switch to a Roserade lead. He looks like V from V for Vendetta anyways, so that's +cool points in my book. xD

@Yeoldknight: The point of having him as a Jolly nature is to NOT totally rely on a Motor Drive boost. And yes, I realize this team has no SR. It's not completely necessary in WiFi. Although my threat list is probably outdated, many of those Pokemon appear in WiFi. WiFi is a different game than Shoddy, where UU/NU Pokemon are used much more often than Shoddy. In addition, I use a different team for Shoddy than WiFi. UU Pokemon in no way are bad, they're just underused. :/

If you don't consider Snorlax or Weezing a powerful defender, then you're an idiot.

@Snorlaxe - I'm going to go with a Roserade lead, thanks :D I'm not going to go with a MixVire, however. It's practically expected on most Electivires in WiFi, so yeah. :P Same thing goes for the SubPetaya set for Empoleon, it's always expected. :P It's not that those sets are bad in any way (in fact, they may be better), but using standard sets in my eyes are pretty boring. EVERYBODY expects them, and they're generally unexciting to use.

Weezing is actually really good at what it does, and it's probably the best physical wall I've ever used. :B
