OH YOU: RMT

OH YOU: Rate My Team

Hello everyone, i'd thought i post my most successful team that i made thus far. I laddered with this team many times on smogon now, this team isn't a offensive team which is out of my nature, since i like to build more of an offensive type of team, i guess you can call it bulky offense. Now, when i first thought about this team, i didnt try to build it around a sweeper like most people do, i tried to build it appon the most dangerious threats in the metagame, in this metagame today, we have lots of steels/dragons roaming around, and i thought i should make a team that kinda beat the metagame if you would say. This team isnt perfect at all, it still has some flaws, but, i have beaten some big names which i wont mention. I switched alot of spots throughtout my teambuilding process, and im still looking for some good suggestions to make my team even better.

Tyranitar (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/60 SAtk/196 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Pursuit
- Fire Blast
- Low Kick
---
Tyranitar, pretty good lead, now many people ask me, fire blast or ice beam, obviously ice beam is for swampert leads, but, i picked fire blast due to many semi-stall teams using skarmory/forretress as their lead, now, fireblast is a 2hko on lead skarmory, and it's a OHKO. Tyranitar is a great lead because it beats azelf, and roserade, and it can kill any other tyranitar with low kick, although im thinking about changing it back to stone edge or superpower, im not sure, SR is really important as it can wear down gyarados and salamence which is always nice, pursuit is for shit that tries to escape, tyranitar is also my primary latias counter, i seen alot of latias with HP;fire, and i cant always trust my scizor to be my main latias counter, so tyranitar is very nice. Er, against swampert leads, i usually set up SR as they set up SR then switch to rotom-h and wow or shadow ball it, i hate when they roar >_>. Against metagross leads, i always go to rotom, wow it, and kill it, i cant afford tyranitar to die from a first blow, atleast i can set up rocks later when metagross is gone, against azelf i usually stay in as they SR, then switch to rotom predicting the explosion, heatran leads are a peice of cake, as Low kick usually 2hko it all the time, while EP only does about 35% to tyranitar. Tyranitar is a great lead, i would love if you raters could offer me a better moveset/ev spread for it though.

Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP/156 Def/100 SDef
Careful nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Waterfall
- Avalanche
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
---
Restalk gyarados, boy, this guy is my main lucario counter, infernape counter, and heatran counter, and DD mence counter, im looking for a better ev spread but, this one is nice, i put 100 SDef and a carful nature so it wont die to GK after a NP from infernape, then it can OHKO infernape back with waterfall, Avalanche is for those pesky DDmence, Gyarados can also live a draco meteor if it's at full health and OHKO mence back with avalanche, Rest and sleeptalk is also fun to use, when my opponent thinks they wowed my gyarados and it's useless, only to see me use rest again ^_^. Gyarados is really important to this team, but if you have anything better that can do gyarados job better, please dont hesitate to tell me.

Heatran (M) @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 128 HP/128 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Magma Storm
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Explosion
---
Now, i changed to this set a few days ago, many of you probably seen philip post this set, yea, it's a HeaTrap, let me explain it to you. You bring in a softboiled blissey into heatran magma storm, you're not escaping. Period. Er, shuca let's me live mence EQ and kill it back with Dragon Pulse, HP;Grass let's me kill those annoying swamperts, now, before i switched to this set, i had subtran with the moveset of dragon pulse, fireblast, hp;grass, and EP..that set was great and all, but, i wanted something better, and this set is really cool and it really fucks up stall teams.

167px-Jirachi_Pic1.PNG.png

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP/42 Spd/216 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Wish
- Thunder Wave
- Iron Head
- Fire Punch
---
Without this guy, i lose to gengar, without this guy, i lose to starmie, and it can take care of latias, i usually bring jirachi in on any special attack thrown at heatran/t-tar and gyarados. Oh, and guess what, you bring in you're mangezone, you die because this rachi beats zone. Anyway, Wish is for health replinish, T-wave is for crippling the opponent's pokemon, iron head is well, i think you know what it's for, and fire punch is for scizor, magnezone, and lucario, before i had this set, i used BOLD CM rachi, im just wandering should i switch back to the CM rachi set because that set was great as well.

Scizor.gif

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Pursuit
- Superpower
---
Scizor, do i really need to explain? Well anyway, he's my mixmence check when it's under 60% health of course, U-turn is so that i can ware down some of scizor counters like gyarados and zapdos, pursuit is for those scarfgars, scarftoms, and scarftias, and maybe scarfmie, superpower is for blissey, and other shit like tyranitar, Im kinda skeptic about scizor, if there was one team member i'll get rid of for another pokemon, it would have to be him, even though he serves a good tyranitar check and salamence check, as well as comming in on pokemon who's in bp range to kill them. Buttt...he can be replaced i guess?

Heat%20Rotom.png

Rotom-h @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/168 Def/88 Spd
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Will-o-wisp
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting]/Substitute
---
Last but not least, my metagross, mamoswine, scizor, and (some) jirachi's counter. T-bolt is STAB, so is shadow ball. Will-o-wisp is pretty fun to use, although i hate when heatran comes in >_> Especially LO tran which takes alot out of gyarados after a Boost, I originally had substitute on this guy because it was fun to use, but i really got tired of heatran's comming in so i replaced it with HP;Fighting xD. It's also nice for hitting T-tar, Erm, I was thinking about replacing rotom set into a restalker set but meh, whatever, i just think rotom dies too quickly with this set, but again, whatever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Quick notes:
  • Only 1 SR weak pokemon
  • Only 1 pokemon weak to TS
  • I switched back to CM rachi
  • I run a faster rotom with the ev spread of 252 HP/68 DEF/188 Speed with the set of sub,wow, t-wave, and shadow ball to outspeed all lucario.
Anyway, that's my team.
Threat List
(TO BE CONTINUED)
Hi Hood,
I like your avatar. On with the team, Lucario will be dangerous, especially since Gyarados will deal okay damage with Waterfall and it lacks Roar to phaze out any Swords Dance attempts. It can set up on Heatran and Tyranitar pretty easily. I think a faster Rotom would be nice for this team as it allows you to outpace Lucario, and taking the load of Gyarados. Gyarados checks a shitload of threats, and I just don't see it taking on everyone. Rotom with the EV spread 252 HP / 68 Def / 188 Spe at a Timid nature ensures you outpace Lucario. Same movesets with Substitute over Hidden Power Fighting. Substitute is a sweet move, scouts Latias, Heatran, and other common switch ins. Behind a Substitute, you choose the move accordingly.
I think your Jirachi set could run a Calm Mind + Wish set to present more threat to the opponent. Its just my two cents, I feel like with the addition of this, you could fare with Gyarados more. Gengar is checkable, Tyranitar and Scizor could check it nicely. The only drawback with tweaking it the CM + Wish set is that you coud have a bit of trouble with Starmie. It is checkable by Rotom and to a lesser extent Jirachi. I feel like checking Gyarados is more beneficial. The set is Calm Mind / Wish / Flash Cannon / Thunderbolt with the EVs 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spe at a Bold nature. Flash Cannon over Psychic so you smack Latias around. And hey, this set works fantastic with TrapTran, removing Blissey thus allowng this guy to sweep.
As for other options, you can look to add 4 extra Speed EVs on Gyarados to outpace Skarmory who run enough Speed to outpace standard Roar gyarados. It might not seem much, but if you catch its HP at low health, smacking it with Waterfall first could come in handy. overall gl.
Thanks for the awesome rate franky, lucario never really was a problem, because after an intimidate, my gyarados still beats it, and no matter what, i always try to keep gyarados alive as much as possible, but yea, i'll try the rotom ev spread. My main concern is gliscor, who wall most of this team once gyarados/rotom is down, any suggestions =o?
Hello
You said Ice Beam on Tyranitar is to take care of Swampert leads. But Ice Beam does laughable damage and Swampert can easily Earthquake you. But Ice Beam does help you with the occasional Gliscor lead, who doesn't expect it. Ice Beam is also a good option considering anti-lead Dragonites who are often used now. Lead Hippowdons are 2HKO'ed as well. If you decide to go with Ice Beam on Tyranitar, keep in mind you will need to have a SAtk stat of 264 to score the before mentioned KO's.
I hope this helped with you Gliscor problem!
To be honest, I just don't see the Gliscor problem. You have enough checks for it. Gyarados is a fantastic check, Rotom is another one, Heatran can beat it if it has to thanks to Shuca Berry. If Gliscor is a true problem for you, you can always try a Scarf Jirachi if your not satisfied with the CM + Wish Jirachi. I figured that it would benefit from Heatran's trapping that's why. Scarf Jirachi solves your issues with Gliscor (assuming it stays in) while checking DD threats along with the aforementioned special threats. This ultimately limits Gliscor chances of Roosting or doing anything. Try it out.
Im sorry if i got anyone confused, i ment to say ice beam is obviously for gliscor leads. But, im going to keep fire blast on it for now, but right now, im considering a better t-tar moveset/ev spread...any suggestsions?
hello, i got your visitor message, so here's my rate! :)
cool team, but at the moment i'm not really seeing the need for rotom-h. he mainly just checks threats that the rest of your team can handle well, especially steel type pokemon that heatran already handles. i feel like rotom-h can be scrapped for a more versatile special attacking threat...for this team, you may want to try a life orb latias. use a set of draco meteor | surf | thunderbolt | recover, an ev spread of 4 hp | 252 spa | 252 spe, and a timid nature. the cool thing about latias on your team is that her dragon typing is great alongside the multitude of steel type pokemon on your team (steel + dragon is a very good combination offensively and defensively). draco meteor is cool as it gives latias an immediate and hard source of power to work with; the only problem with it is that latias is really vulnerable after using it due to the unfortunate special attack drop that comes from it. latias is pretty easy pursuit bait after a draco meteor also, but this isn't a huge concern as scizor can then switch in and use the pursuiter as a free chance to cause some pain by u-turning all over the place. latias is also cool as she gives you a nice solution to your gliscor problem; surf is a ohko.
i see a kinda similar thing with gyarados. you say that gyarados is your main lucario counter, but as j. franky pointed out a gyarados with no ev investment is attack will not be doing a lot of damage with waterfall, even to a pokemon as hopelessly frail as lucario. you also say that he checks salamence for you, but scizor does that. you say he checks heatran, but tyranitar can do that just as well...so pretty much he's just checking things that your team can already handle. i think that in place of the current gyarados set that you're running you may want to try a bulky dragon dance gyarados set. use a moveset of dragon dance | waterfall | taunt | earthquake, an ev spread of 156 hp | 72 atk | 96 def | 184 spe, and an adamant nature (with the item being leftovers). the two main things that set this apart from normal dragon dance gyarados is the bulky ev spread and taunt. taunt is cool as it allows gyarados to set up on skarmory and blissey (to name a few), as well as stop will-o-wisp users. the ev spread is tailored to make gyarados more bulky, but still be dealing out plenty of damage. earthquake combined with the bulky ev spread and intimidate allow him to remain a solid answer to lucario, while still being able to remain a powerful sweeper.
okay, for some minor changes you should definitely try ice beam over fire blast on tyranitar. fire blast is useful to stop foretress and skarmory leads on semi-stall teams, but at the moment your team says "fuck you" to semi-stall thanks to heatran's trapping abilities with magma storm. heatran can easily trap and remove about half of the opposing stall team with magma storm + the appropriate move, so yeah it isn't a huge bother. if you dont want to use ice beam, then you can also try rest in that slot. rest + lum berry tyranitar leads are extremely bulky pokemon, and it would give you yet another cool weapon to use against nasty stall teams. in addition should you chose to change gyarados's set (i strongly advocate this), then your team will be out of a "reliable" status absorber. overall rest increases bulk while ice beam helps with dragons and gliscor. the choice of which one to go with is yours, but ultimately i strongly suggest changing fire blast to one of them, as fire blast is redundant on your team; heatran's stab magma storm is powerful enough as far as a fire type move goes.
hope i helped, and good luck with your team!
