OK, I haven't been here a while, what is the new metagame?

I left playing pokemon almost a year ago (Sept. 07 if I recall), and I just started playing again. Someone mind telling me what has been going on to the current metagame from then, so I can prepare when I go on wi-fi. I heard some stuff about Wobby back in OU, was that just a joke or something?

You will be far behind as far as trends are concerned. But, the OU tierlist can be found on the first page of Stark - X-Act's thread ' New OU List'.

In September, Garchomp was usually equiped with Choice Scarf. Now, or atleast in the recent months, Garchomp's Swords Dance + Yache Berry with Fire Fang assisting both Earthquake and Outrage/Dragon Claw was discovered, which single-handedly took over as Pokemon's most severe and menacing OverUsed threat in an instant.

Lucario's Swords Dance + Life Orb combination with Close Combat and a priority move of your chosing (Bullet Punch or Extremespeed) wasn't considered a 'standard' until January/Febuary.

Celebi hadn't established itself in the OU environment. That was until (an estimate of) March, where many players caught onto how well Celebi could perform in OU.

This is for Shoddy Battle, though, so I doubt this is of any relevance.

so Garchomp does SD, then it just rapes everything? I thought that was pretty common too in Sept.

Now, everyone has a Bronzong to counter Chomp I guess? dammit i just ev trained a slowbro.

No, because Swords Dance + Fire Fang delivers around 78% to the standard Bronzong. Having said that, Bronzong is capable of using Explosion and exploiting Garchomp's unability to OHKO it in the first place. However, if your Bronzong's equipped with Explosion, the chances are you already used Explosion prior to Garchomp's initial switch-in is likely. You see, Bronzong is naturally a Pokemon that leads off with the commonly used Steath Rock and Hypnosis combination. On the other hand, Garchomp's Swords Dance set is understandably a late-game sweeper, even though it is more than capable of establishing its presense felt earlier in the game.

Two Pokemon with Ice Beam, as too with one of the two being able to outspeed Garchomp is 'countering' the landshark. Cressilia can take one Outrage after a single Swords Dance, so that grants you a free Ice Beam hit. Afterwards, Cressilia will faint, and then you have to switch in your Deoxys, Starmie of any other Pokemon you posess to outspeed Garchomp and take it down cleanly. Remember, though, as there's always a chance of Sand Veil's activation, so it's not a fullproof way of dealing with Garchomp.

Wobby was OU but he's back in Ubers now, there's some debate about Garchomp for Uber, we're starting on a NU list (well, discussing), and Deoxys's Speed form was unbanned (though people are bitching about it so it might go back up soon). As Taylor said SD/Yache Chomp is the standard now and it's damn good.

SD Luke usage has gone up, Swords Dance with Close Combat and one of Extremespeed or Bullet Punch. Last slot is either Crunch, Stone Edge, or even HP Ice for Gliscor.

Tentacruel is OU now as it's a great Mixape counter. Toxic Spikes usage has gone up ever since people discovered how useful it was (really useful). Some anti-leads with Choice Scarf are more common than they were (Azelf, and not just the sweeper set).

That's all I remember.

No it's not. Spikes + Sleep Powder is however. Toxic Spikes is learnt through level.

Same 20 or so Pokemon it was two months ago, I find. A few new discoveries, a bit of popularity shift within it, but no big movers.

When you left, Celebi was largely disused, being in the 60s weighted usage for October. I would imagine it used even less in September. Now, though, it is in the Top Ten for weighted usage, as people realized how well it counters Gyarados, Garchomp to a certain extent, and works really well to set up Stealth Rock, Leech Seed, Screens, and U-turn.
