Old Sweepers Still Work

Yo yo yo, what up homie G's (Gangster for "Hello, how are you"). I decided to build this team because I was recently playing through LeafGreen and I once again noticed how amazingly awesome Starmie and Aerodactyl are. After lots of time putting this team together, here it is.

Lucario @ Choice Scarf
Mild
92 Atk/252 SpA/160 Spe
Inner Focus
~Close Combat
~Me First
~Shadow Ball
~Hidden Power [Ice]

My opener. With the huge amounts of Lucario sets going around, I still decided to use a more unique one! Close Combat owns Blissey more than Aura Sphere, Me First lets me steal awesome moves if I predict right, Shadow Ball has alot of ownage on Gengar, and Hidden Power owns dragons.

142-3.png
Aerodactyl @ Liechi Berry
Adamant
252 Atk, 220 Spe, 36 SpD
Pressure
Stone Edge~
Earthquake~
Endure~
Thunder Fang~
My very own Aerodactyl set. I made this set after I seen that it had Curse, and I was like "hey, +1 attack would be nice". Outspeeds Gengar and down. Stone Edge is for STAB and owning things, Earthquake is for the awesome rock ground coverage, Endure is to activate Liechi, and Thunder Fang is because I only had one electric attack.
143-3.png
Snorlax @ Chesto Berry
Careful
168 HP/120 Def/220 SpD
Thick Fat
~Crunch
~Brick Break
~Rest
~Curse
My First wall. Walls both sides of the spectrum well, as does my other wall. This one has a Defence booster and the other has a special Defense Booster. Crunch and Brick Break has almost as good of coverage as Ghost Fighting does. Rest is for recovering, and Curse is for Cursing things.
308-3.png
Medicham @ Life Orb
Adamant
252 Atk/ 252 Spe/6 HP
Pure Power
Hi Jump Kick~
Psycho Cut~
Bullet Punch~
Fire Punch~
I'm really surprised I never see these guys. This moveset has good type coverage and everything coming from this massive attack is going to do some damage. Bullet Punch is so I can pull kills out on faster things, and the other moves are for crushing walls.
121-3.png
Starmie @ Expert Belt
Timid
252 Spe/252 SpA/6 HP
Natural Cure
~Surf
~Thunderbolt
~Ice Beam
~Grass Knot
My favorite special sweeper ever. I neglected to put rapid spin on him because none of the other pokemon have a grass move, and only one of my pokemon is stealth rock weak. Surf for STAB and boltbeam for massive type coverage.
477-3.png
Dusknoir @ Leftovers
Modest
252 HP/252 Def/ 6 SpD
Pressure
Shadow Ball
Focus Blast
Pain Split
Calm Mind
I'm bound to get some surprised players using this set. All of the EVs to help physical survival while I calm mind up and use Nuetral Coverage on everything to kill stuff. Pain Split to recover on stuff.

Will add more later, need to go right now.

snorlax wants return, it's the bread and butter of physical normal attackers, strong base of attack, no side effects, he really wants a STAB move ;)

for u to have an ideia, it does little less damege on something that is week to crunch

Return = 102*1.5STAB = 153
Crunch = 80*2super effective = 160

and Curse is for Cursing things.

are you sure you know how curse works in pokemons that are not ghost types??

For future reference, please don't format your text towards the right. It's extremely difficult to read.

You're wasting EVs on Dusknoir. If you use a Bold nature with 120 Defense EVs and 64 Special Attack EVs while keeping HP and Special Defense constant, you get exactly the same stats that you have now, and get an additional 68 EVs to use somewhere else. That said, I'm not particularly impressed with a special attacker with only 65 base Special Attack. While Spiritomb doesn't get Focus Blast, its higher 92 base Special Attack and lack of a Dark (and Ghost) weakness, which makes up for its lower defenses, should be reason enough for use over Dusknoir as a special sweeper.

Thunder Fang is a poor choice on Aerodactyl, because Electric and Rock have largely redundant type coverage. Since Rock gets STAB, Stone Edge usually does more damage than Thunder Fang. Ice Fang can catch Gliscor and gets good type coverage in general with Ground, so it is probably the better choice. Using a move just because you lack that type of move is almost always not a wise action. Additionally, consider Substitute over Endure; Substitute gives you more flexibility and the option of activating Liechi Berry at 25% HP, if your HP is divisible by 4. Substitute helps scout too; Aerodactyl is very fast, so it should outrun most of the opponents you would face.

Brick Break is a bad move on Snorlax, especially when replacing Return. Return will do more damage on most Pokemon, and you can just Curse up against most anything else.

Your team is lacking in defense, particularly against Dragon attacks. A Salamence's Draco Meteor or a Garchomp's Outrage would crush your team, as your sole Dragon resistance, Lucario, is very fragile. Adding a functional Steel-type over Dusknoir is a possibility, since you have a lot of offense anyways.

I suppose I could try return.

Yes, + 1 stage attack and defense, - 1 stage speed.

Okay

Sweet, thanks man, didn't do my calculations -.-. Will consider Spiritomb, or that "Functional steel type".

Ice fang even when I already have 2 ice attacks on this team and only 1 electric attack?

so Return over Brick Break, got ya.

What functional steel type do you suggest?

Surprise Registeel could work here pretty well. It can also Stealth Rock and Thunder Wave to harass the other team for yours to do more damage.

Or just go with a Jirachi, who's Wish will definitely help out the whole team, and hell could also be a Calm Minder if you Wish.

P.S. Look at it this way. Crunch x2 = 160. Return x1.5 = 153. Against ghosts, Return x1.5 = ...............0

So you like my Snorlax set?
