Welcome to Other Metagame Mashups, where we combine the rulesets of various Other Metagames to create new ways to play! Check out the rest of our subforum for general discussion, hub threads, and the occasional event.
Other Metagame Mashups (OMMs) are independent formats, governed separately from their base Other Metagames (OMs). While they often share rulesets with the parent OM, tiering decisions are made for the needs of the mashup. Because of our smaller playerbase and larger number of formats, the majority of tiering changes are done via quickbans based on community input.
This is a subforum of Other Metagames, and all Other Metagames rules are still in effect. In particular, please refer to the Other Metagames Tiering Guidelines while making tiering decisions. Consistency is important, especially when dealing with many smaller formats. Deviation from these guidelines is discouraged but acceptable in certain circumstances.
Tiering decisions are handled by the Council running each format. Council members are selected from passionate members of the community who rise to the occasion. Councils are led by a Tier Leader, elected amongst themselves, who is responsible for:
- Ownership of the hub, and keeping it up to date
- Communication with OM Mashups leadership, including all tiering changes
- Driving internal council activity (voting slates, resource generation, etc.)
- Reaching out for help when necessary
Everyone on the Council is responsible for their respective formats, with duties including but not limited to:
- Listening to the community and responding to their needs
- Voting on bans, unbans, and restrictions and providing detailed justifications for them
- Making update posts in the thread
- Quarterly generation of resources, including at minimum sample teams and a rough VR
If you’re interested in starting a format, here’s what to do:
1) Reach out for help! We’re all in this together, and you’ll always find someone who wants to play with you and form a council. A minimum of 3 players are required to form a council; we recommend capping your council at 6-7 players before things become massively slowed down.
2) Create a first draft for a hub. This will act as a reference point when people need to check out the metagame. You’ll need to write a brief explanation of the format, and include:
- A full ruleset (Clauses, Bans, and Mechanical Interactions)
- 2-3 sample sets with a brief strategy attached
- Tournament and Challenge Code
- Please ask OM Mashups staff for assistance and clarification with any of these!
4) Post it! OM Mashups staff will add the tournament code to our bot Iolanthe, allowing us to set tournaments in the PS! Room.
OM Mashups leadership reserves the right to edit resources, dispute tiering decisions, and promote/demote Council members.
