One Direction & their manager. (OP 5 + Boss)

There's really not much to this team when you first look at it. It consists of 5 of the most overpowered pokes I have seen this gen, and one boss poke that has never really seen the light of day it deserved to... Until now.

Now usually people go over the whole, "team building process" thing. But i'm more of a trial and error kind of guy. So what i did, was to go over the December usage stats, taking the top 40 or so pokemon into account. Once i did that, i built a preliminary team that should have been theoretically able to put holes in the entire top flight of OU. This team consisted of the likes of Infernape, and Latios. Which were eventually scrapped, shifted and swapped for better, more reliable pokes.

Through all of this chopping and changing there was on poke that really got under my skin. With a plethora of resistances and no one reliable check. Movesets that could frustrate the most enlightened of monks. And an appearance resembling, well, a titanium turd. Yes you guessed it, Heatran was a problem.
So eventually i just got to the point where i said, "If you can't beat em..."

So no more dawdling...Here's the team:

Heatran (M) @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 SDef
Modest Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
Heatran is...Well, a Heatran. He does exactly what you need him to do, and he does the job well. As Heatrans entry to the battlefield is rarely stymied, and he's usually checking whatever it is you just came in on. The old rocks go perfectly on him with no qualms. Toxic is almost standard. You'll notice as the team goes on that i like power, hence why i opt for Fire Blast > Lava Plume with max SpAtk.

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 108 SDef / 80 SAtk / 212 HP / 108 Def
Bold Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Sleep Powder
My Venusaur!! Ever since I saw the defensive boosts coupled with Thick Fat on the Serebii Mega Evolutions page, I knew me and this guy would get along. When this guy comes in all i sing is "welcome to the good liife". He's about as good as it gets defensively. The set is pretty standard now, I did try out a set with Leaf Storm/Leech seed but this is just the best. Really can't say a bad word about my homie here.

featuredmon_rotom.png

Rotom-Wash @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Trick
So i know what you're thinking now. Rotom/Venusaur/Heatran ,, that's such a Gee Ay Why core. But yes, yes it is. When i said 5 OP pokes, i sure as hell meant it. Anyway, i'm playing scarf rotom because its really not that popular right now. Even without intense bulk investment he still takes the hits from T-Flamez, he still levitates, and more importantly, he gets to the Will-o-wisp before they get to the attack. Trick for when i need to relieve myself of the burden and cripple a wall in the process. Then 2 standard STABs. Max SpAtk because, as i said, i like power.

drapion.jpg

Drapion @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 156 HP / 100 SDef / 252 Atk
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Earthquake
- Cross Poison
- Pursuit
The Boss! Now many people have found an all time favourite in Drapion. Even though i'm not one of them, I do recognise a beast when i see one. Now, sporting only one weakness, a host of useful resistances (the most important of which being Ghost), and the new found acceptance of the Poison-type in the OU meta. It's only fair this guy gets a chance.... A chance to show off that is!
Now i got real tired, real quick, of Aegislash wars. Mainly because if you lose the war, you're more likely to lose the whole battle (ironic eh). So i started playing Honchkrow to try and check Aegislash. Which was soon scrapped to make way for this grinding machine. With a highly respectable bulk, this guy take Slash hits for a joke, and hits back with either knock off (if they just previously hit KS) or EQ if you can see the KS coming. The rest is standard. It can also take standard hits from most meta threats. But don't go wasting him until that Aegislash has bit the dust... Talking of Aegislash.

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
IVs: 30 Spd
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword
- Swords Dance
- King's Shield
Basically a standard physical Aegislash. No matter how predictable it can become, it will always have the power to back it up. It's 2 pokes in one. It's bulky, it's offensive. It is a living embodiment of bulky offense! Well, except for the living part. Standard coverage moves. 4 in SpDef is just a thing i do to all pokes with even defenses. You know why. And lastly, i dropped 1 IV from speed, so if the Aegislash war does occur, when you see the shadow sneak coming (if its not mixed), you hit yours at the same time. That way they're in Blade forme to take (die from) your SS whilst you stay in Shield forme to take theirs.

Red_Genesect.jpg

Genesect @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Download
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Atk
Hasty Nature
- Flamethrower
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball
- U-turn
Now it really wouldn't be a 5 OP squad if this wasn't a Genesect. Scarf for maximum effectiveness. Specially orientated. Not much more to say really. Except for the Energy Ball which may be confusing some. It's just for the ever dominant Rotom when it tries to come in on predicted Flamethrowers & Ice Beams. KO with E Ball after a SpAtk boost. Job Done.

So there you have it, name them as you like (after 1D members only, and the obvious Cowell ogre).
I don't have the patience to ladder, currently sitting at around 1800. But this team is solid if you want to take it up the ladder yourself. Hope everyone got a good read out of it.
