One of my most successful OU teams

Example match:

479-heat.png

heat man (Rotom-Heat) @ Flame Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spd
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Overheat
- Thunder Wave
- Trick

My favorite Rotom form and most favorite electric typed Pokemon, Rotom Heat has a niche over its overrated Wash form. With 8 resistances, physical bulk, and immunity to burn and paralysis, I find many switch in opportunities for Heat to take a hit and force switch-outs. I choose either to trick the Flame Orb to annoying stall Pokemon like Chansey or Gliscor or burn some other physical threats. Otherwise, T-wave is great to slow down other offensive threats. Overheat is a powerful fire STAB and Volt Switch is another good STAB for scouting switchouts.

248.png

monster man (Tyranitar) (F) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Rock Slide
- Ice Punch

An effective Assault Vest user, Tyranitar is my choice as a Pursuit trapper with switch-in opportunities to most special attacks. Crunch and Rock Slide are essential STABs off its high base attack. Ice Punch is a filler move in case of dragon Pokemon. So far, T-tar has been successful at stopping Lati@s, Talonflame, and Charizard Y from escaping with or without team support. 7 weaknesses is T-tar's biggest flaw, but my teammates can switch in to those weaknesses.

184.png

egg man (Azumarill) (F) @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Aqua Tail
- Superpower
- Play Rough

My most favorite fairy typed Pokemon and second most favorite water type. This is close to the standard Choice Band Azu set with Aqua Tail instead of Waterfall. These attacks provide decent coverage and few Pokemon can safely switch in to this monster. The more Pokemon paralyzed by Rotom, the more likely Azu will sweep the opposing team. I might water to consider, replacing the item because sometimes I mispredict and select the wrong move.

530.png

mole man (Excadrill) (F) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin
- Rock Slide

My rapid spinner of choice, Excadrill is important for keeping Crobat and Rotom from getting hurt from Stealth Rock. It has EQ as its STAB attack and Rock Slide to hit any Flying types. Being immune to both paralysis and poison is important too so it can switch into Chansey/Blissey safely and set up Stealth Rock if necessary. Jolly nature is mainly for outspeeding Mega Pinsir, Lum Berry is heal sleep or burn.

169.png

bat man (Crobat) (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 40 HP / 252 Atk / 216 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Taunt
- Haze (might replace with Toxic)
- Brave Bird
- Super Fang

My most favorite poisoned type Pokemon, Crobat plays a significant role in stopping stall, revenge killing, and utterly destroying Baton Pass teams. Crobat is Scolipede's worst nightmare with Taunt, Haze, and Infiltrator Brave Bird. It can taunt most leading Pokemon and proceed to attack whatever on the next turn with either Super Fang or Brave Bird. Black Sludge recovers HP to recover recoil from BB. Crobat's bulk is limited, but it can safely switch into its resistances without a problem.

3-mega.png

plant man (Venusaur) (F) @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SAtk
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Leech Seed
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis

My mega evolution of choice, Mega Venusaur is quite a special tank with 3 recovery methods and two STAB attacks. I feel that grass types are underrated and Mega Venu is the best choice in OU. Any Pokemon that does not resist Venusaur's STABs will not enjoy switching in. Most of Vensaur's checks/counters which resist its STABs are handled by Rotom-H or Tyranitar. One notable problem with this set is that Synthesis is a bad recovery method under Sand Stream. Nonetheless, this has not been a serious setback in my most of my matches.

I like your team but be carefull with fighting types (two pokemons with fighting weakness) and ground types (three pokemons with ground weakness).

Use that set for Venusaur:
Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 248 HP / 92 Def / 168 SDef
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Earthquake
- Synthesis

Venusaur mega is better as a wall. EQ helps vs Heatran and Sludge Bomb vs Fairy Types.

Also Chlorophyll isn't a item, is a ability so change that for Venasaurite.

Hello there! Before I move onto any rate, I'd like to say you made a FWG core without even noticing, which I find rather funny ^-^.

I'll start off with Rotom-H. I like the set you use, it's pretty creative and could stop many physical attackers, yet, I feel that you should switch it out with Choice Scarf to put a stop to Pokemon that could be annoying such as Rotom-W (Allows free switch-ins, woo). Personally I've never used AV Tyranitar, but I believe Stone Edge is better than Rock Slide, as the power difference is absurd, and I think Ice Punch should be replaced with Earthquake to hit Pokemon like Bisharp. For Azumarill, use Waterfall over Aqua Tail. The 15 Extra Power (Including STAB) is not worth the accuracy and flinch chance, and consider using Knock Off over Superpower, as it could be helpful.

Excadrill I believe should have Air Balloon as an item, Lum Berry is not a very good item on it, even with the burn your Excadrill is a support one, so burns do not matter much. Crobat, Haze is iffy, for now you should keep as BP teams run havoc as of now. Last, but not least is Mega Venusaur, which I think you should run HP [Fire] on over Synthesis, just because a majority of your team is walled by it and could use some things to counter it.

Good luck!

Thank you all for the replies.

First of all, Mega Venu's item was a typo. It's pre-mega ability is Chlorophyll though it probably doesn't matter.

For Rotom-H, I have used Trick + Choice Scarf in the past but I don't want to become locked into Overheat or T-wave if I choose not to trick. Pokemon like Rotom-W already run around with Choice Scarf so I wouldn't trick it just to give another scarf. I can lure Wash in and then switch to Mega Venu or Excadrill to take care of it.

For Tyranitar, Earthquake is a good choice of coverage but Excadrill (and new Mega Venusaur) already know it. I've ran Stone Edge on T-Tar but it relies on hax. The move hitting is crucial and too frustrating when it misses. I'll switch Ice Punch to Avalanche.

For Azumarill, if I run Waterfall, who would I use it against that is slower than Azumarill? Sure, paralyzed Pokemon may get flinched but I'm going for OHKO's, not 2KO's or 3KO's. Aqua Tail's 90 base power and accuracy is equal to Play Rough. Superpower is necessary for hitting steel types. Having tried this team in Ubers, I needed Superpower to OHKO Dialga. Knock Off is a maybe.

For Excadrill, I agree Air Balloon is a great item. I chose Lum Berry in case of Will-o-Wisp or Spore from Smeargle. I will change it anyway.

No changes to Crobat yet.

I will try SpeedBlaziken's set for Mega Venusaur. I am impressed by Mega Venusaur's walling capabilities. I had the special attack maxed out so I could hit hard before switching to T-tar or Rotom. I've used Mega Venusaur in the past with HP Fire to deal with Scizor. I don't need it for steel types because that's why I have a physically defensive Rotom to counter them.

Bisharp and Heatran are not yet too much of a threat for my team. I have, however, been swept by a Mega Aerodactyl and a Terrakion with Life Orb.

Rotom-H would also serve as a revenge-killer, aka something fast to check other fast Pokemon, as your team is relatively slow. It is quite bulky, but the point is that something that is extremely powerful, for instance Charizard Y, comes along and screws up your day, you NEED the speed.

I'll agree on Stone Edge, I suppose, but Earthquake should definitely be added, Ice Punch only hits what? Landorus? It outspeeds and kills. Garchomp? With Rough Skin damage there's a very high chance of KO'ing yourself. Earthquake should be replaced to hit things like Excadrill on switch-in, it's also a 10x safer option to use than Crunch on Aegislash.

Aqua Tail is outclassed... Yes it's the same as Play Rough, but if there were a Fairy Physical attack that was 80/100 all Azumarill's would run it - Azumarill only runs Play Rough as it's its best Fairy-STAB attack. Aqua Tail also doesn't catch any extra KO that Waterfall doesn't, and Waterfall again, is used for accuracy which is VERY bloody important. As for Superpower, you mention that you need it to KO Dialga, which is an Ubers Pokemon, so saying that means nothing, the only extra thing Superpower hits is Ferrothorn.

So far I've switched Mega Venusaur's set and now it knows Earthquake. It has worked so far. I'm not going to given Tyranitar Earthquake if both Excadrill and Mega Venu already know it. Avalanche is a good move on Ttar, but if I give it Earthquake (removing that move from Venu), well, it's odd to have a team without any ice moves. For now Aqua Tail has been hitting every time. If I remove Superpower from Azu, I'll teach Ttar Superpower. I cannot stand having a team without any fighting attacks.

Regarding Charizard Y, I've already defeated several. If Stealth Rocks aren't in place, Rotom needs the bulk to take a hit or two then possibly paralyze it then Volt Switch to Ttar and Pursuit trap it paralyzed or not. Charizard X scares me more, so that physical bulk is appreciated.

Current threats: Cloyster, Terrakion, Mega Aerodactyl, BellyJet Azumarill
