ooh Handball ftw

so true

yeah i have never heard of a handball league anywhere around me.

I wish i could spread the word or try and promote it somehow because it's soo good. Scoring goals is so great.

Handball is fucking fantastic. I've never heard of any teams around me, but we've played at school. I'm a long, high, and triple jumper so when I jump from the semi-circle I'm already at the net. I was pretty beastly... wish more people played..

Handball is a big sport among teens/young adults in New York City. It's even a part of the PSAL (Public School Athletic League) here like basketball, football, and other sports.

EDIT: Scratch that, I just saw the vid and NYC handball is different from European handball so yea, we don't play that here.

yeah sorry the vid is some sketchy quality. Handball dominates though.
Yeah i've never seen a real handball court. I've done the school one and played with some buddies.

It's all about the jumping. Sucks to be goalie.

I was a pretty decent goalie too. All the other goalie's wore gloves but I thought I was too cool and ended up with really red hands.. and nuts. Man that handball felt like a softball. I also remember never passing to the guys on my team because puberty hadn't kicked in yet and the girls were like 2 feet taller than everyone but me.

lolcatz real handballs are brutal. They are small but solid. Legit goalies do the splits and crazy stuff.

aaah puberty. THose were the days.

Well, my whole school plays handball. It's the number one sport were I live. In first grade, my class consisted of a full handball team, keeper included. The school heavily promotes it with free tickets, games between teachers and students and other stuff like that. I always take those tickets, and when I see my friends play, they all become really aggresive. It's the same on TV, handball is very violent here in Belgium and probably all over the world, but I don't know that. The stupid youtube video "isn't available from my country". I myself like to play handball at school, but I of course can't compete with my schoolmates. So yeah, handball is really really popular here.

Handball could be a great game in my opinion. However, it is a very stupid game to play in PE, and unfortunately I've only ever played it in PE. Eh, too bad. I'd play more handball if I had the time and patience too, but meh xD It's only fun when you win though lol

I always thought Handball was the game where you slapped the little blue ball against the wall and then the person who messed up or hit it more than once had to lean against the wall and get pegged.

I was way off I guess. This seems cool. Kind of like a mixture of basketball and soccer.

I believe the game you were assuming to be Hand Ball is sprint?

Yup, that's how I always looked at it...A mixture of BBall and soccer (which are two of my favourite sports LOL).

Eh I kind of suck at Hand Ball but my GF has played it for years.

Note: Handball is really popular here.

Sprint? I don't think so. I was thinking last night, and I remembered the name: Wall ball.

I think. <_<

yeah wall ball is the american game you are thinking of. Or peg. Or sprint. There are variants. The olympics were sick with handball. I actually used a real handball today. Those little buggers are more solid than you would think. It's kinda crazy.

Also this handball looks really cool but i question not so much the validity of it as a sport but its kind of like dodgeball to me in that there is really no overlying skill you need to learn to play. Its just running and throwing, obviously you need accuracy and stuff but its not like football, or hockey, or soccer where anyone can basically just mess around and maybe find out they are good or something.

I had a friend from Finland who used to play in a league, so I guess they have youth (16-17) leagues there. I saw my first handball game at the Beijing Olympics and I was pretty impressed. It looks like a fast, athletic game and pretty rough too. Players seem to be allowed to block other players runs by running in front of them, (similar to basketball). Also I'd hate to be the goal keeper, no protection and balls being thrown hard at you. I'd also like to know how hard the ball used is.

My grams used to play competitive handball--to what extent, I don't know. She also qualified as an Olympic swimmer, but was subsequently impregnated by my gramps. She also makes legendary fried chicken.
