ORAS OU Open Arms

OPEN ARMS
Hey, guys. Waluigi The Anime here bringing you my very first RMT! To start off my very first RMT, I decided to use something that is pretty uncommon in the current metagame. For that reason, I decided to base this team on Choice Specs Tangrowth, a pretty unknown threat in the current metagame. For all of those who don't know, Specs Tangrowth HITS LIKE A MOTHERFUCKING TRUCK. One of the best things about using this thing is getting a surprise kill on the first turn.

This team is called "Open Arms" because of Tangrowth's attacking animation (which showdown doesn't have :C) looks like it's hugging...air. I don't know. I just like Journey, OK?

Lying beside you
Here in the dark
Feeling your heartbeat with mine
Softly you whisper
You're so sincere

Talonflame @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Brave Bird
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Roost
I chose Specially Defensive Talonflame after several drafts of the team. Before I added Talonflame, I noticed that Mega Charizard Y was giving my team lots of trouble, being able to 2HKO every pokemon on the team with Fire Blast boosted by sun. Talonflame patched up this weakness rather well, if I say so myself. It makes up the members of the defensive core (Clefable, Seismitoad, and Talaonflame).
Talonflame also gives my team a form of priority in the form of Brave Bird, which is extremely useful for picking off things that Tangrowth has left nearly dead (I'll talk about that later). Talonflame is also a good answer to stall teams, being able to taunt walls such as Chansey and Ferrothorn while Roosting off damage received. Will-o-wisp is an extremely important move to have, as it can cripple pokemon that would otherwise force Talonflame out, such as Tyranitar.

How could our love be so blind
We sailed on together
We drifted apart
And here you are
By my side

Seismitoad @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Knock Off
- Earthquake

Along with Clefable and Tangrowth, Seismitoad is one of the original members of the team. I chose Seismitoad because of it's great typing that complimented the team well, being able to check Heatran, Magnezone, and many other pokemon that could pose as a threat, as well as providing stealth rock for the team. Seismitoad also is my main check against water types in general, beating able to set up rocks/cripple with knock off against common water types, such as Rotom-W, Keldeo, and Starmie. Water Absorb aids in this, and also gives Seismitoad a form of pseudo-recovery.
As said before, Seismitoad has fantastic synergy with the team, with half of the team resisting it's 4x weakness to grass. Seismitoad works with the main defensive core (Clefable and Talonflame) to eliminate threats that one by themselves could not handle.

So now I FUCKING DESTROY YOU come to you
With open arms
Nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you'll see
What your love means to me
Open arms

Tangrowth @ Choice Specs
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Focus Blast
- Ancient Power

The star of the show, Tangrowth will fuck your shit up if you are not careful. I chose Specs Tangrowth to act as a bulky hit-and-run wallbreaker, easily bringing down many pokemon that most would consider checks. Regenerator compliments Tangrowth's role as this makes it worn down much slower. It's great bulk also allows Tangrowth to receive non-STAB super effective hits, such as Mega Metagross' Ice Punch, and retaliate with the move of choice.
The moveset probably looks weird to most of you, so I will explain. Leaf Storm is simply a nuke with specs and 2HKO/OHKO many unsuspecting opponents (Think I'm going to leech seed and send out Mega Sableye? Too Bad. You are fucking OHKO'd). Hidden Power Fire is for the common grass type switch ins expecting leech seed, such as Ferrothorn (Damn close to a OHKO, although this does leave Ferrothorn nearly useless for the rest of the match). It can also defeat many steel types expecting the revealed Leaf Storm, such as Scizor, Mega Gross, and Skarmory (Tangrowth can switch in on the last two with ease and 2HKO with HP Fire). Focus Blast is for Heatran switch ins mainly, but can also be used against Sub-Mega Gyarados to avoid the drop. Ancient Power is for Zard/Talonflame switch-ins, which can cleanly OHKO both of them. Here are a couple of calcs to show you what Tangrowth can do:
Things that Tangrowth can switch into and threaten (AKA Tangrowth's Bitches)

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tangrowth Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 168 SpD Ferrothorn: 292-348 (82.9 - 98.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (My personal favourite, Tangrowth can severely weaken Ferrothorn, usually on turn one, and makes it unable to set up hazards for the rest of the match.)
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tangrowth Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Garchomp: 354-417 (84.2 - 99.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (This is supposed to be a tank? Tangrowth can cleanly 2HKO Garchomp which can prevent it from setting up stealth rock. Fire Blast variants CAN 2HKO, but Tangrowth can just switch out and activate regenerator.)
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tangrowth Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Mega Sableye: 276-325 (90.7 - 106.9%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO (Non-Calm Mind variants are easily destroyed by Tangrowth. Nothing else to say here.)
252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Tangrowth: 175-207 (43.3 - 51.2%) -- 5.1% chance to 2HKO (HP Fire can 2HKO is return, meaning that Tangrowth will have to switch out after it uses it for the first time.)

Things Tangrowth can OHKO-Severely Weaken on the switch
The hunters have become the hunted.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tangrowth Ancient Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard Y: 340-404 (114.4 - 136%) -- guaranteed OHKO ("I can't believe my Charizard Y lost to an Ancient Power Tangrowth...")
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tangrowth Ancient Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard X: 220-260 (74 - 87.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (Makes Clefable and Azumarill's job much easier.)
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tangrowth Hidden Power Fire vs. 248 HP / 176 SpD Mega Scizor: 324-384 (94.4 - 111.9%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO ("Noice!")
252+ SpA Choice Specs Tangrowth Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 192+ SpD Heatran: 278-328 (72.2 - 85.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery (Makes Seismitoad's job extremely easy.)

Living without you
Living alone
This empty house seems so cold
Wanting to hold you
Wanting you near
How much I wanted you home

clefable.gif

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Moonblast
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Protect

Clefable is the cleric of the team, to put it bluntly. I added Clefable as one of members of my defensive core to provide Azumarill and Seismitoad recovery with wish. Heal Bell support is greatly appreciated as well so my team doesnèt get worn down by status too much. Moonblast is for STAB.
Clefable acts as the teams insurance, making sure that physical set-up sweepers don't destroy the team, such as Dragonite and Chariard X (to an extent). Clefable also acts as the primary dragon and fighting type check, easily bringing down Conkeldurr, Mega Lopunny, Garchomp, and several others with ease. Clefable also acts as the main counter to Mega Sableye. This is the reason why I chose Unaware over Magic Guard.

But now that you've come back
Turned night into day
I need you to stay

zapdos.gif

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 176 Def / 68 SpA / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
- Discharge
- Roost
- Defog
- Toxic

Since I decided to use Talonflame, I needed a defog user. I also needed a pokemon that could check Bird Spam, as my team was weak to it at the time. For that reason, I chose Zapdos. Zapdos is the defogger of choice because of it's good synergy with the team. Due to it's electric typing, Zapdos is my bird spam (seriously, screw that play style) check, being able to take down Talonflame and Mega Pinsir without too much trouble.
I chose the physically defensive set because it's generally easier to take on Bird Spam than it's specially defensive counterpart. Discharge is for that sexy 30% paralyze chance, while roost and defog are self-explanatory. I chose Toxic over Heat Wave because it provided the team passive damage besides stealth rock, and is a great move for dragon type switch-ins.

So now I come to you
With open arms
Nothing to hide
Believe what I say
So here I am
With open arms
Hoping you'll see
What your love means to me
Open arms

azumarill-2.gif

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Superpower
- Waterfall
- Play Rough

For the final spot, I chose Banded Azumarill for another hard hitter, contrasting Tangrowth's specially offensive presence, and generally forming a good offensive core with him. Azumarill provides the team with another check to Keldeo, Landorus, and many other threats that could break through my team if my team is pressured too much. Azumarill also provides another form of priority on the team, finishing off weakened pokemon that were caught in Tangrowth's rage. Azumarill also provides the team great synergy, being the only ice resist on the team.
For moves, Aqua Jet, Waterfall, and Play Rough are self explanatory. I chose Superpower over Knock Off because I was looking for a quick way to dismantle steel types like Ferrothorn.

OMFG
SHOUT-OUTS

Waluigi The Anime

And that's it! Thank you for reading my RMT. And just remember:
Waluigi is ALWAYS number one!

Great job building this team, I really don't see much wrong with it other than Heat Wave > Toxic or Roost, for hitting Ferrothorn which you don't have much to take it down with.

This team is weak to the regenerator pair, Slowbro and AV Tornadous-T backed by Chansey. You lack a win condition so for this reason, I shall suggest BD Azumarill.

Azumarill (F) @ Sitrus Berry
