So, Rotom-W is top in OU usage stats, mostly testament to how OP Talonflame is. With numerous teams now running it, I decided to make a team to take advantage of that fact.
Team at a glance:
In-depth view:
Mamoswine (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Oblivious
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Endeavor
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
With the boost to Oblivious this gen, rocks are almost guaranteed for Mamo. EQ is the obligatory STAB, while Ice Shard gives priority for finishing 1HP pokes hit by Endeavor. It also does a good job revenge-killing dragons in the mid-game, switching in on Electric-type attacks aimed at Blastoise as well. It's funny when half the opponent's team gets mauled by Endeavor once he misplays around this guy.
Aegislash (M) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Def / 192 SAtk / 64 Spd
Naive Nature
- Autotomize
- Shadow Ball
- Flash Cannon
- Sacred Sword
Meh. Aegislash. Autotomize together with WP for the surprise sweep. Shadow Ball hits unsuspecting Skarmory and Rotom-W switch-ins, Sacred Sword for the more daring Bisharps while also granting excellent neutral coverage with Shadow Ball. I chose Flash Cannon in the last slot for the annoying fairies that give a shit-ton of trouble to my team. It also hits Mandibuzz switch-ins pretty hard. Max Defense EVs let it survive EQ from defensive Lando-T, Ttar and Zard X. Knock off Conk 3HKOes. Speed EVs let it outspeed Timid Greninja with one boost. I mainly use this guy as a Scizor switch-in and a sacrificial spin-blocker in a pinch. He can't really do much even with an Autotomize and WP boost under his belt though, so suggestions would be appreciated.
Conkeldurr (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 20 Def / 116 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Ice Punch
- Knock Off
- Mach Punch
- Drain Punch
Standard AV COnk. This monstrosity takes hits like nothing else, dishing out as much damage. He serves as my status absorber, with Guts powering him up even more. Drain Punch as main STAB while providing reliable recovery and Knock Off for predicted switches. Ice punch settles both Landorus forms, Gliscor and any random dragon that happens to be in it's way. Mach Punch picks off weakened foes and threatens Ttar, Bisharp and Exca immediately upon switching in. Given EV spread gives it decent special bulk and also defense, the rest are pretty much self-explanatory. Most importantly, he's my answer to those frigging pink blobs. Die.
Blastoise (M) @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Dark Pulse
- Water Pulse
- Aura Sphere
This might seem like a waste of a mega slot, since Mega-Blastoise isn't as offensively-oriented as the other megas. However, it gets its job done. Spinblockers get mauled by Dark Pulse, Water Pulse for damage in general and Aura Sphere for coverage. LO Thundurus doesn't do enough to OHKO with Thunderbolt, so Mr Turtles is almost guaranteed a spin. Defense EVs let it survive a BB from Talonflame and blast it with Water Pulse.
Kyurem-Black @ Leftovers
Ability: Teravolt
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 56 HP / 216 SAtk / 236 Spd
Rash Nature
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Fusion Bolt
- Earth Power
Kyurem-B. Blahblahuberstatsinoublahblah. Comes in, threatens, sets up subs and crushes souls. HP EVs let it survive BB from TF, non-Banded Bullet Punch Scizor and Mach Punch from Conk. Ice Beam wrecks stuff, Fusion Bolt deals hefty damage to the mostly specially defensive fairies in the tier and Earth Power for additional coverage, mostly Steel-types. Nothing much to say really.
Talonflame (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 48 HP / 252 Atk / 208 Spd
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Tailwind
- Flare Blitz
- Brave Bird
This thing. People say how it gets countered too easily by Rotom-W, Heatran and the like but seriously. THIS THING IS RIDICULOUS. CB Brave Bird OHKOes Zard Y. I know that isn't that impressive a benchline due to Zard Y's subpar bulk but I mean, god. We're done with the wanking now. For the moves, basically all you have to do with TF is to click Brave Bird repeatedly. For coverage, you have BB. And also that Flare Blitz thing, as if that matters. If you feel like changing it up a little, you have the pleasant alternative of using Brave Bird. Or Brave Bird. Or maybe even Brave Bird. Whatever suits your liking. Okay now let's talk 'bout the serious stuff. U-turn is for switching out of the aforementioned checks(poor Tyranitar), after luring them out and Tailwind is if the only win condition is a Kyurem-B sweep. Other than that it's pretty simple. Once the checks are gone, Talonflame wrecks. 208 Speed EVs is all you need to outspeed M-Pinsir and hit before it's priority Quick Attack, while the rest are dumped to HP to help it survive longer from the recoil.
Well that's it for this RMT. This team is rather weak to BPass having no answer to it(though I think that wouldn't be relevant for long.). Also, lead Infernapes are a pain, destroying half my team if I predicted it's moveset wrongly. I don't really have a solid check to Talonflame too, so I usually have to sacrifice a poke because nothing can safely switch in. Hope you guys can give some suggestions and thanks in advance.
