Other ORAS Monotype // The Next Meta of Water

Damn, this was coming a looooong way. Time to share the eternal wisdom of Surskit to you.

Manaphy

Manaphy @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Tail Glow
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball

Manaphy was my starting Pokémon and I set about to have it as a primary offensive sweeper of this team. Obviously considering it's average speed tier and not wanting to risk much speed ties support is mandatory, either via baton pass, or via another way, to boost it up for maximum crispiness. I run a standard Tail Glow + 3 attacks set, EV spread shouldn't come as a surprise, although I'd slash Modest Nature if you are very confident about your speed, which I am not. (Sigh, Flying Monos) Leftovers is the optimal item as it will grant Manaphy more survivability, and easier times handling priority.

Surskit

Surskit @ Focus Sash
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 248 HP / 8 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Rain Dance
- Toxic
- Struggle Bug/Hydro Pump/Giga Drain
- Sticky Web

Considering I don't like the gambit style of baton passing, I came about the wonderful idea of using Surskit in Water Monotype. Sticky Web, check. Rain Dance, check. Gimmicky but working set, check. The lovely thing about Surskit is you know one thing it can do, which is Sticky Web, but you can't really stop it. Fakek Out users, you see them a mile away, and for them, there's a whole new different way to deal with them sob's. The mentality here is simple. Go for Rain Dance, set up Sticky Web if confident with speed, if not, Sticky Web. I prefer to run Struggle Bug as the slash move as it allows me to get some damage off, and drop SpA if needed to get an easier time switching in. Toxic can cripple some walls.

Gyarados

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Speed
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Earthquake/Bounce/Crunch/Ice Fang

I thought that Ditto would be a problem for Manaphy, as it would tear my team up once it comed in. Substitute Bulky Gyarados was my first mon to come to mind. Intimidate to deal with Surskit Fake out threats? Check! Deals with Ditto? Check! He's an overall great fit to the team concept as a whole and fills out quite a few holes. Just because it's bulky, it don't mean it's bad at sweeping. Switching in, Substitute for safety, Dragon Dance away. This thing catches people by surprise so often I'm not even joking. I'd use Earthquake as the last move, but if you want to cover something else, like a Landy-T or Garchomp, you can run Ice Fang. Problems with psychic, run Crunch. Etc. Leftovers is mandatory for a substitute bulky mon.

Kingdra

Kingdra @ Choice Specs
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Dragon Pulse/Draco Meteor
- Surf/Scald/Hydro Pump
- Flash Cannon
- Ice Beam

Now that I had a semi-core, I thought I'd need some good wall breakers and hard hitters. Specsdra was my first considered option. I have rain from Surskit to abuse Swift Swim, I got a good duo typing, I got strong stabs. If you wish, you can go for Draco Meteor and Hydro Pump to deal tons of damage, however, I prefer to have consistent damage for easier times sweeping the unsuspecting nerds. Kingdra is underestimated. That's a fact. It can tear whole unprepared teams up, and I've had numerous sweeps with it. Choice Specs for damage, as you have Swift Swim for speed, and casual EV spread for a special attacker. Modest Nature for damage as you have SS for speed.

Politoed

Politoed @ Eject Button (optional Leftovers)
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
- Perish Song

After having Kingdra, I realised that I have one good Swift Swim Pokémon but not consistent enough rain. Kingdra relies on rain, and Politoed is a reliable way of setting it up. Damp Rock is banned, so I was left with Leftovers (lol) as my item, until I thought of Eject Button. It gave me the possibility to have some wonderful offensive momentum as I would switch out, with maximum perseverance of my rain turns. tltr; come in, get hit, switch to Kingdra, rape. Moves are mandatory for a semi-offensive Politoed to fit my team concept, although this is also a viable set.

Politoed @ Eject Button (optional Leftovers)
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Protect
- Perish Song

Swampert

Swampert @ Swampertite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Rain Dance / Stealth Rock / Power-Up Punch
- Earthquake
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch

When I had come this far I realised I have yet to use my Mega Slot, and now that I have permanent rain, I could take it one step further with Mega Swampert. We all know how beastly this Poke is, and the sheer impact it can have. It's offensive stats are beastly, and it can be utilized perfectly in rain to tear some big holes in teams. It fits the hyper offensive mindset of this team and works well with whatever move you give. You can go Rain Dance if you want some extra rain, although it's not that great as you have two rain setters already. Stealth Rock is viable if you want to deal with Skarmory easier, PUP is the move of choice otherwise, further honing Swampert's sweeping potential.

Give me some insight on this team and the threats. I have yet to really test it competitively on ladder too much but I have gotten good enough results, and a lot of laughs while using it!

As a note, I only use Surskit as a joke. It's a gimmick but can work wonders when utilized perfectly. Trust me, one of my friends used Surskit with Octillery, now that is fun. Give me some tips on how to improve my team while keeping the Surskit Offense mentality and possibly I could shape this into a whole new water monotype meta!
