It's been a while since NUCL but I just wanted to dump the teams I built bc I'm pretty proud of them. Special thanks to Tuthur and my friend Drud for trusting me to stay in after a rough start, allowing me to finish with a 4-2 record and four wins in a row. I really love the ORAS NU meta and I am glad I was able to successfully show off some innovative mons and sets.

Thoughts on rain? I made a team around Claydol a few NU team tournaments ago for Welli0u around the simple concept of Rocks Claydol + Encore Liepard being the manual setters. The rest of the team composition is just Water spam consistent of rain abusers like LO Ludicolo and Bulk Up Poliwrath. HP Electric Omastar & Hidden Power Grass Mantine are respective lures depending on your opponents Water resist which specifically tagets Pelipper & Gastrodon, respectively. Here is the paste: https://pokepast.es/a3e8e4c46108d686, Above is a featured game from ORAS NU Cup.

Hey,
I've been one of the players who's been sticking with ORAS NU for the longest, and I realize that I've got a few templates for building in my head that tend to end up with successful teams. This post is going to be continually expanded, but is a general walkthrough of some of the more important cores in the gen, how to supplement them, and also a general teambuilding checklist.

The following list is what I'd consider a minimum for a solid team to match up well into opposing balance/bulky offense, and not instantly lose to common matchup fish, in this case rain and malamar. If your opponent has no history of using at least one of these bullets, feel free to ignore said bullet, at your own risk of course. The pokemon listed after each bullet are examples, are are not intended to be every option you can use to check said mons.

Checklist for Balance / Bulky Offense (in no particular order):
1) Archeops / Tauros Check(s):
:steelix: :rhydon: :rotom:
2) At least 2 mons that check Kabutops and Ludicolo with rain up respectively :ferroseed: :vileplume: :mantine: :hariyama:
3) 2 Fighting Type Answers or Weezing :vileplume: :mesprit: :mismagius:
4) Mesprit Check (avoid a 2hko from specs psychic) :steelix: :skuntank: :liepard: :ferroseed:
5) Pokemon that can switch into Vileplume's Sludge Bomb, get poisoned, and do so again, or 2 pokemon that separately can switch into vileplume once :skuntank: :vileplume: :mesprit: :magmortar:
6) Volt Immunity: Ground Type or Lanturn (Audino can do this in a pinch) :rhydon: :gastrodon: :lanturn:
7) Malamar counter :rhydon: :samurott: :mesprit: :pinsir: :audino-mega:(Worry Seed) :vileplume:
8) Hazard Removal (if you are running 2 SR weak mons consider removal + scarf removal) :pelipper: :hitmonchan: :xatu:
9) Steelix abuser (Xatu is great for this, but generally you need a mon that switches in and punishes their team) :xatu: :hariyama: :rotom: :mantine:
10) 2 Fire Checks (don't lose to Mortar on preview) :archeops: :hariyama: :lanturn:
11) Speed: Ideally you want a scarfer faster than at the very least Tauros, but having 1 mon above 100 base speed and 1 scarfer is ideal to ensure you can grab momentum more easily. :rotom: :barbaracle: :tauros: :archeops: :mismagius:

Archetype guide will come later.
