As the title suggests, this is a mixed Mega Sceptile team. The core of this team relies around taking out pesky steels so Mega Sceptile can come in and wreck havoc. I have been considering changing the style of this team to Spike stacking offense, so please let me know if a core like that would fit better for a team like this.
The glue to this team. The reason I chose Mixed Sceptile, is because it OHKOs standard specially defensive Heatran, and has an 87.5% chance to OHKO Scarf Zone. Both of which give huge problems to this team.
Magnezone's job is to trap and kill steels. It is a great teammate to Mega Sceptile as it takes out everything stopping Sceptile's sweep.
I honestly have Greninja because I really wanted to use one. It fits so well with my team, countering mons I'm weak to.
Landorus-T is here to be designated physical wall, Bird spam check, and Mega Gallade check. Not much else to say. He's probably the best rocker in the game atm.
Clefable is here to be my dragon check and Mega Sableye check. It doubles as a cleric.
Empoleon is my special wall along with my defoger and phaser. Great utility mon.
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 4 Atk/252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Giga Drain
- Substitute
- Earthquake
- Dragon Pulse
Mega Sceptile is the star of this team. I chose it because it counters/checks threats like Magnezone, Rotom-W, specially defensive Heatran, and a lot of water types. It speed cannot be hindered via paralysis, because lighting rod, making it very useful against threats like Thundurus, Rotom-W, and can 2HKO Mega Manetric, which dies when I'm behind a sub. Giga Drain let's me recover my HP back from any damage I took from substitute. Mega Sceptile especially runs well as a revenge killer. It can switch roles from a late game sweeper to a revenge killer dependent on the team, and is works exceptionally well with both.
Magnezone @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
Magnezone's role is to make Sceptile's job easier. It takes out most of Sceptile's checks, such as Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Skarmory, obviously by trapping them. Magnezone also let's me have a nice Volt-Turn combo with Landorus-T, allowing me to keep offensive momentum and allowing me pick off many mons at low amounts of health. Magnezone also lets me control Fairy types, which have always been a big problem. Standard Azumarill cannot OHKO me, unless it is +6 after a belly drum. If this is the case, Landorus comes in, intimidates, and Zone is able to live an aqua jet. This is crucial since Azumarill can destroy this team. It can also 2HKO a lot of incoming mons, which lets me kill the mon the following turn. Such mons include Life Orb Landorus, which is another threat.
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Gunk Shot
- Dark Pulse
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
Greninja, possibly the biggest threat in ORAS, is another glue to this team. I feel it is a great fit to the team, knocking out many mons threatening this team. Mons such as Landorus, Landorus-T, Clefable, Thundurus, Slowbro, Garchomp, Mega Altaria, etc. Since mons like Clefable, Gliscor, Azumarill threaten this team, Greninja is here to stop them to ensure the rest of my mons have a good time against the opponent.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 8 SpD / 8 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Stealth Rock
- U-turn
I chose Landorus-T as my Stealth Rocker and physical wall. I went with him because he gives me a nice Volt-turn combo with Magnezone. It allows me to keep a lot of offensive momentum. I chose Knock Off over Stone Edge to catch Latios and Latias on switches, and to cripple some other threats. The biggest reason I took Landorus-T over any other rocker was because my team is EXTREMELY weak to Bisharp. Bisharp legit destroys my teams, but Landorus lives +3 Sucker Punch from full HP, and can knock out Bisharp with Earthquake. Finally, this spread allows me to live Manetric's HP ice from full, and let me retaliate with either an Earthquake, and U-Turn to go into a better match up.
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Heal Bell
- Moonblast
- Calm Mind
- Wish
Clefable takes the role of cleric and stopping opposing Clefable to set up multiple Calm Minds and sweep. And since I do run Unaware, if the opposing Clefable/Suicune and I get into a Calm Mind war, I take minimal damage due to Unaware, and am able to retaliate with a sweep if all steels are down. I have been considering running Moonlight instead of Wish, but so far Wish has saved my butt in a lot of situations. It brings my main threats back up to near full, and allows me to play more comfortably.
Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Roar
- Defog
Finally, my special wall, statuser, phaser, and defoger in one pokemon. Empoleon is an amazing pokemon, able to save me from a lot of bad situations. It allows me to roar things out that can't do much to Empoleon, but can sweep my entire team. My only problem is with Empoleon is the fact Bisharp can punish me when I go for Defog, allowing Bisharp to sweep easily. This is a huge problem since Bisharp is already such a threat. This is where I am having a lot of trouble, but other than that, Empoleon makes for a great Pokemon for this team.
