Other ORAS Ubers - More E-Speed Spam (Mega Ray Team)

RIP MEGA RAY ;-;
So I'm fairly new to the whole Ubers scene, but had a little prior knowledge as to how things work with the tier. So, with how broken Life Orbed Mega Ray is, i couldn't resist building a team with him :] Currently, we're sitting in the top 500 around 1300 I believe, and this team has been really really fun to play with, especially since Mega Ray will probably be out of here real quick.

Building Process:
Party Rayquaza.png

Ofc since it's mega ray team, this guy is first, and we all know that he is an absolute monster!
Party Rayquaza.png
Party Aegislash.png Party Kyogre.png Party Arceus.png Party Yveltal.png Party Dialga.png
So this was draft #1 and it kinda sucked, Calm Mind Arceus Electric and PHYSICAL Primal Kyogre (lol don't use it) didn't fit on the team together so Arceus was changed to the superior E-Killer set, and Ogre was changed to CM.
Party Rayquaza.png Party Aegislash.png Party Kyogre.png Party Arceus.png Party Yveltal.png Party Dialga.png
Wasn't really digging Primal Ogre and Dialga as my rocker so I made a change as I also wanted a cleric that could handle Giratina-O and Yveltal better.
Party Rayquaza.png Party Aegislash.png Party Arceus.png Party Yveltal.png Party Groudon.pngParty Xerneas.png
So this is basically my final team, I switched Dialga for P-Groudon, and P-Kyogre for Xerneas:
The Breakdown:
Rayquaza-M.png
Rayquaza-M @ Life Orb
Jolly Nature
252 Atk/4 Sp.Def/252 Spe
Swords Dance
Dragon Ascent
Earthquake
Extremespeed

This is by far the most standard set, but who cares! It does more work than any other Ray set I've come across, and when it gets in safely, it can almost always guarantee a kill or two before it dies from Life Orb and other Espeed spam. Seriously this mon is so outrageously broken with Life Orb, I just couldn't stop myself from abusing this monster before it gets banned or something. It puts pressure on everything it's in against so it makes a very potent late gamer along with Arceus or just a great wall breaker early on so my other mons can win the game!
Aegislash.jpg
Aegislash @ Leftovers
Sassy Nature
248 HP/8 Atk/252 Sp.Def
0 Spe Ivs
Gyro Ball
Pursuit
Toxic
Kings Shield

Another pretty basic set, Spdef Aegislash is a really good mon with some nice synergies to Mega Ray and my other Bulky mon Yveltal. This thing just checks Xerneas for me as I would have to make sac's of E-Killer or Ray to take down Geomancy Xerneas, which is no bueno. From what I've percieved, status is a great asset, and landing a toxic on a Rayquaza, Groudon, Kyogre, Yveltal switch are all wonderful things, as they can all be a little annoying to the team. Also this thing has 100% stopped all variants of Mewtwo, and not to mention Xerneas. I tried running max def to help against ray, but +2 Moonblast 2hko's non spdef Aegislash.
Yveltal.png
Yveltal @ Leftovers
Impish Nature
248 HP/244 Def/16 Spe
Foul Play
Toxic
Taunt
Roost

I love this thing. It looks at any physical threat in the tier, and just laughs in their face. It can be 2hko'd by Primal Groudon Stone Edge, but Foul Play still does lot's, and non-Rock Polish variants aren't a threat to me. This thing eats most every physical hit with gusto, and just has that amazing type synergy with Aegi that makes my core hard to break. So far, Yveltal has been one of the few mons who can stand up to Mega Rayquaza without dying (though will take some damage). Plopping a toxic on obvious Xerneas and other switch ins helps break teams, and this thing makes Physical Arceus not a threat. But once my Aegi-Tal (or Yvel-Slash?) core are gone, my team gets raped by E-Killer so you gotta keep yours walls happy and healthy! This thing can also live Banded bolt strikes from Zekrom, might I add :P.
Arceus.png
Arceus @ Silk Scarf
Adamant Nature
252 Atk/4 SpDef/252 Spe
Swords Dance
Refresh
Extremespeed
Earthquake/Shadow Claw

I read about this set from the "Mexican Xerneas" RMT (whom i also got my xerneas spread from :]) and it is just a really cool spread. I like running EQ over Shadow Claw, because Arceus-Steel has been an annoyance, and my other mons have been able to handle Giratina-O quite nicely. I just found EQ more handy. Also I opted for Adamant over Jolly, because I wanted more damage, and that matters more to me, when I have Yvel-Slash to eat up Jolly Ekiller attacks. This thing ofc is a remarkable late game sweeper, and it replaced a Calm Minding Arceus Electric which was really bad. And refresh keeps things nice and healthy, though I'm thinking about changing it because I run Aromatherapy Xerneas...
Groudon-P.png
Groudon-Primal @ Red Orb
Naughty Nature
108 HP/252 Atk/56 Sp.Atk/92 Spe
Overheat
Dragon Claw
Earthquake
Stealth Rock

This replaced Dialga because it has more offensive presence in my opinion. So what this set does is outspeed defensive Yveltal and be able to 2HKO with overheat which is always nice. It being fire typed now allows Dragon Claw to be relevant to help deal with Giratina-O, and also does over 50% i believe to mega ray, which sometimes try and set up on Groudon. It packs a major punch, and the typing on this thing packs nearly perfect synergy with Yvel-Slash! Just an overall threat, as getting up rocks to deal with Ho-Oh is always a good thing, and can get you a free Dragon Claw off on Gira-O as they defog!

Xerneas.png
Xerneas @ Leftovers
Modest Nature
84 HP/252 Sp.Atk/172 Spe
Moonblast
Hidden Power Fire
Aromatherapy
Thunder Wave

This is the Mexican Xerneas set from that namesake's RMT, and this particular set just really works well with my team. Being able to Twave switches into stuff like Aegislash, Ho-Oh, and Arceus-Steel are always nice, as they became way more manageable, as having a cleric on this team was way more valuable than CM Kyogre was. This also makes Gira-O less annoying, as well as Yveltal, which can wall most of my team out. I really haven't seen lots of Ferrothorns and Klefkis running around, but HP Fire is always a safe bet in getting off damage if I lose Groudon.

So that's basically it for the team! I would like to change Refresh on Arceus to something else, I may assess the meta and try some stuff before making an ultimate decision on what I want there, so comment down below :]
Here's a Threats List i guess:
Darkrai: Basically I have to decide who wants a nap, and follow up by switching into Arceus and clicking ESpeed twice. Im not scared of Focus Blast because they dont run that for fear of Xerneas
Mega Ray: The best case scenario is Yveltal comes in, and kills with foul play. Sometimes i have to ESpeed spam to kill, which usually results in my arceus or ray or both dying, but threat conquered!
E-Killer: Yveltal. If that's gone, I'm kinda screwed.
Arceus-Steel: Only other Arceus annoying to me. Twave it, foul play, EQ it, idk but it's annoying and I just have to play it right.
Yveltal: Xerneas and Groudon Overheat
Xerneas: Aegislash laughs at it.
Giratina-O: Groudon and Xerneas are the best ways. Toxic stall and foul play can work too.
Primal Groudon: Spam Foul Play and EQ til it dies
Ho-Oh: get up rocks, use Dragon Ascent
Primal Kyogre: set up bait for Mega Ray tbh. Hasn't been a problem for me since it's slow and easily toxic stalled.

I could do more, but there's no real point. Figure it out yourself :]

is how you do the hide tags ^~^, just add a [ right before the first "hide" and you're set.

The team is alright but, like any team, there's room for optimization.

I feel like the Groudon set is a little silly because Defensive Yveltal isn't common in ORAS. If it's Blackglasses then you'll have to win a 50/50 or rely on rolls to 2HKO it one-on-one anyway (0 Atk Black Glasses Dark Aura Yveltal Foul Play vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Primal Groudon: 231-273 (62.7 - 74.1%), 0 Atk Black Glasses Dark Aura Yveltal Sucker Punch vs. 108 HP / 0 Def Primal Groudon: 117-138 (31.7 - 37.5%). On top of this, it could have more speedcreep than you so you'd just lose anyway. Additionally, a -SDef nature on your main Kyogre check seems pretty sub-optimal. I feel like a set of 248 HP / 252 SpD / (insert speedcreep here and take it out of special defense) with a Careful Nature (-SAtk, +SDef) and Roar / Lava Plume / Stealth Rock / Earthquake is optimal here. It gives you a reliable Xerneas and Kyogre check (Kyogre in particular seems like it could be problematic with -SDef on Groudon), as well as spreading burns on switch-ins like Lugia and Giratina-O and still providing Stealth Rock for you. It still hits harder than uninvested Dialga, so I don't think you're losing all that much offensive presence. -SAtk might seem counterproductive but it's actually optimal since you don't want to have a -Nature anywhere else; also, you aren't gonna be using Lava Plume for the damage, not to mention that it still easily OHKOs things like Mega Scizor anyway.

Next off, I don't really think you need Aegislash. You have Primal Groudon and double priority to handle Xerneas, and I think Aegislash really struggles to find a niche in the tier currently. I don't want to drop it for another Fairy-weak Pokemon since then you'd have three, but I feel like hazard control will help you a lot with your two Stealth Rock weaknesses. I recommend running Cloyster over Aegislash. Not only does this give you hazards to work with, but you'll have hazard removal and an offensive check to things like Mega Rayquaza. This is all more beneficial than Aegislash, which really only checks Xerneas when you handle it alright already.

The set I'd run is:
Cloyster @ Focus Sash
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Icicle Spear
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes
- Spikes

Icicle Spear breaks Focus Sashes and deals solid damage to Defoggers such as Latios and Giratina-O. Rapid Spin is used solely for hazard removal, and a Jolly Nature is used to ensure that you Rapid Spin before slow Stealth Rock setters (Primal Groudon, Dialga) take you out. Toxic Spikes and Spikes are insanely good in a tier where the best pivot (Primal Groudon) is weak to all hazards, and Cloyster in particular is effective at setting them versus the offense that plagues the tier. Shell Smash could possibly be run over one of the hazards, but right now I feel like Ubers is too priority-centric for Cloyster to safely set up a Shell Smash without getting revenge killed the turn after.

Next, I think that Yveltal can be optimized. With all this offensive presence, you don't really need a Defensive set to check anything; it can be used better as a Life Orb attacker. I'd run Dark Pulse / Sucker Punch / Oblivion Wing / Taunt, with 252 SAtk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe because it maximizes attacking power and speed, and a Mild Nature for mostly arbitrary and irrelevant reasons (higher SAtk to make you hit harder, whether it's -Def or -SDef makes very little difference).

I think the Arceus set is fine but I'd run a Jolly Nature on it to be faster than Mega Rayquaza and speed tie with things like Arceus-Ghost (so it can't really just sit around and spam WoW to beat you).

The last thing is the Xerneas set. It was made for XY as opposed to ORAS and I don't think it would do that well in this tier. Its best checks aren't Steel types like Mega Scizor and Aegislash, they're Fire types like Ho-Oh and Primal Groudon. I also think Thunder Wave doesn't have much use barring the occasional chance to parahax random steel types (this is justifiable if you happen to be Brazilian, but I digress...). I felt that something like an Expert Belt set would work here, so I made you one.

Xerneas @ Expert Belt
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 72 HP / 252 SpA / 184 Spe
Mild Nature
- Moonblast
- Rock Slide
- Close Combat
- Aromatherapy

It might seem a little strange, but hear me out on this. This set patches up your Ho-Oh weakness, convincingly bluffs being Geomancy, and performs cleric duties on top of this. It's more efficient than what you previously had because Leftovers Cleric Xerneas isn't common enough for you to convincingly bluff being it. It doesn't need any attack EVs for Moonblast + Expert Belt Rock Slide to KO a 252 HP Ho-Oh switchin, so I instead optimized it by making it outspeed 252 Spe base 90s. Max Special Attack is obvious for hitting as hard as possible, and the HP is leftover. -Def as opposed to -SDef so you can take on Yveltal better.

I think I fixed most of the issues with this team, good luck =]

Thanks! I'll definitely try some of this stuff out, though I really do like Defensive Yvel because my team is wrecked by +2 EKiller, but I'll give it a try. I'm not super familiar with this tier (I mainly do OU/NU), so I'll give everything a whirl! Thanks ^^
