XY Ubers [ORAS Ubers] Vessel: My first non HO team

Hello users! This is my second RMT during my time on PS!/Smogon and its outdated now due to Mega-Rayquaza being banned from ORAS Ubers so i thought i would RMT it :]

Introduction:

First of all, shoutout to the bae finally for turning me onto the band Twenty One Pilots (I used their newest album and songs and the name for the team and names of the Pokemon respectively) they're awesome and starting to become one of my most listened to artists. Go check them out.
Secondly, I wanted to create a team that had the ability to defeat most HO teams and I've found that this team does just that if you play it right. It's not perfect, no team is, but i thought i'd let you guys try and help me fix it up even more (I'm usually pretty bad at teambuilding)
Lets get into it.

Vessel: The Team Members

groudon.gif

Migraine (Groudon-Primal) @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Precipice Blades
- Fire Punch / Stone Edge
- Dragon Claw / Rock Polish
- Swords Dance

So this is my take on offensive Primal-Groudon. I run max speed to outspeed defensive variants and to outspeed as many opposing pokemon as possible. I ran Dragon Claw to fuck with Mega Rayquaza's and other dragons but you can run Rock Polish now to outspeed everything. Precipice Blades is a mandatory STAB and Fire Punch is another great STAB with a chance to burn. Stone edge can be used over Fire Punch to hit Ho-Oh.

latios.gif

Car Radio (Latios) @ Soul Dew
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Memento
- Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse

Latios holding Soul Dew lets it hit pretty hard. It's like holding Specs and Ass Vest at the same time. With 319 Speed, Latios outspeeds Geoxern, 252 Speed Rayquaza and Primal Kyogre. Ice Beam was to hit Rayquaza before it mega evolves, among other stuff. Grass Knot is to hit Groudon/Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre and 2HKO Xerneas too.

+1 252+ SpA Latios Grass Knot (120 BP) vs. 104 HP / 0 SpD Xerneas: 219-258 (52.2 - 61.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Memento is nice if you want to cripple something when Latios has done all it can do. Draco Meteor is a powerful STAB but you can run Dragon Pulse if you dont want the drop.

deoxys-speed.gif

Screen (Deoxys-Speed) @ Light Clay
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Taunt
- ExtremeSpeed

This is my lead for most battles. Since most teams on the ladder are HO teams, i thought i would use Deo-S as a screen setter. Light Clay is used instead of Focus Sash so i can keep the screens up for longer as most ORAS Games are quick paced and over pretty quickly, so i want them up for as long as possible.
Taunt is for hazard leads / first turn set up pokemon ect. ExtremeSpeed is so Deo-S isnt taunt bait. also helps with Deo-S.

rayquaza.gif

Guns For Hands (Rayquaza-Mega) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Delta Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor / Earthquake
- Dragon Ascent
- Extreme Speed
- Dragon Dance / Swords Dance

This little shit. This guy dominated the meta prior to it's ban. It could destroy anything, had no checks or counters (that i know of), could only be killed via priority and was a fucking god. Oh, dont forget, Mega Rayquaza can hold an item too. Good going GameFreak. My M-Ray holds Lum Berry as a fuck you to people that try to Will-o-Wisp or Thunder Wave me (Looking at you Klefki).
Draco Meteor was chosen to hit Primal Groudon hard as well as other physical walls that might try and hinder me in sweeping. Dragons Ascent is of course mandatory, both as a STAB and as the condition to Mega Evo.
I chose Dragon Dance so as to outspeed any silly ScarfMRays (I seen a few) but Swords Dance works wonders.

arceus.gif

The Run And Go (Arceus-Fairy) @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Judgment
- Recover
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp

Okay, so I needed a fairy and something to be able to come in and revenge kill Mega Rays so i chose Fairyceus. The EV set is of my own (I believe, tell me if you've used it before) 216+ allows it to be one point above max speed Mega Ray while still maintaining enough bulk to live an espeed, even at +2

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Rayquaza Extreme Speed vs. 252 HP / 40 Def Arceus-Fairy: 263-309 (59.2 - 69.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

WoW is to cripple mons that try to setup on it and helps with Ekiller.
The rest doesnt really need explaining.

yveltal.gif

House Of Gold (Yveltal) @ Leftovers
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Foul Play
- Taunt
- Sucker Punch
- Roost

Hello PhysDef YGod :]
This guy serves as my Ekiller check and does quite well against Primal Groudon.
This is just a standard PhysDef Yveltal so not much really needs explaining.
Screens do help with Yveltals walling and if Reflect is up, Yveltal might be able to handle Mega Rayquaza too. Too lazy to calc it right now though so feel free to look.

Migraine (Groudon-Primal) @ Red Orb
Ability: Desolate Land
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Precipice Blades
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Claw
- Swords Dance

Car Radio (Latios) @ Soul Dew
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Ice Beam
- Grass Knot
- Memento
- Draco Meteor

Screen (Deoxys-Speed) @ Light Clay
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Taunt
- ExtremeSpeed

Guns For Hands (Rayquaza-Mega) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Delta Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Ascent
- Extreme Speed
- Dragon Dance

The Run And Go (Arceus-Fairy) @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Def / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Judgment
- Recover
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp

House Of Gold (Yveltal) @ Leftovers
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Foul Play
- Taunt
- Sucker Punch
- Roost

So, there it is! I did say I'm not the greatest at teambuilding so advice and criticism's are welcome.
Now for shoutouts i guess, that seems to be increasing in popularity so i feel i should finish this off with some shoutouts. (Not in any particular order)

I've probably forgotten people but hey, its like 5:45am leave me alone

Hope you enjoyed reading! n_n

where is my shoutout you hoE

Thanks babe, i actually wanted it to be rated but it seems nobody but you could be bothered or saw the point u_u

but the changes seem better and i'll definitely test them out later, too busy rn zzz

Seconding the things Steeljackal<3 said, but use cm arceus fairy with wisp (or earth power) instead of dark. Yveltal is a huge treath as it offensively checks two mons and then punches giants holes. Arceus dark isn't a counter, its just a check. Stall commonly forgoes a pursuit user so you should be fine in that regard too. Darkceus also makes the team much weaker to geomancy xerneas, primal groudon can't live +2 fb after rocks; without them it's a roll. I also like eq on SD ray more, but it's kinda a preference thing. Dd+espeed is viable btw as espeed is a staple on ray and not having it can be seriously annoying, ascend+eq hits everything anyway. Espeed gives you a darkrai check which you kinda need.

Good team fren, I'll wub u forevr silly goat <3

no u

The main thing I see is that you are running Modest Latios, with an extremely bizzare moveset. I recommend you change it to Timid, and I will also tell you that any viable Latios set should have Draco Meteor and Psyshock. Psyshock 2HKOes Geomancy Xerneas, whilst doing more to Kyogre than Grass Knot does. On an offensive team like this I don't think you really need Defog, it is nice but you can use Memento as well, giving you a moveset of Draco / Psyshock / HP Fire / Defog or Memento. I would also recommend that you use Naive Rayquaza with this set:

Stop Using Such Gay Nicknames (Rayquaza) @ Life Orb
Ability: Air Lock
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Dragon Ascent
- Draco Meteor
- V-Create / Fire Blast / Earthquake
- Extreme Speed

This set will help you break walls such as Lugia so that Groudon can get through later on. This also eliminates the need for Swords Dance on Groudon, allowing you to run 3 attacks + Rock Polish. I would recommend you play with your EVs until you find an amount that lets Groudon take a +2 Focus Blast after Stealth Rock damage (6% SR damage as it comes in the first time as a pure Ground-type). You can take this out of Speed and then Attack, with an Adamant nature and a fair amount of Attack investment you won't really notice the difference too much.

Finally, I see that you are not running Stealth Rock anyway, due to you being a cretin. I second Steel's suggestion of a changed Deoxys-Speed set, as without Stealth Rock you will have a fantastic time breaking through Lugia. I would consider changing Arceus-Fairy from Defog to Calm Mind as Defog + Deoxys-Speed doesn't really work too well, and it means that you can have a solid check and win condition as long as you blast Primal Groudon with Draco Meteor at some point. I'd also run max Speed if I were you, or drop down to 192+ (enough to outspeed Mega Lucario) now that Mega Rayquaza is gone.

Overall, it's nice to see a reasonably well-built team from you, you've come a long way since Defog + Magic Coat + Shadow Sneak Giratina-Altered and Gastrodon. Talk to me more often dude

pls gastrodon was MVP and giratina was the biggest antilead i could create :[

but thanks for the advice and changes my man, i'll get to changing them soon, busy atm n_n
and jaja you need to get on skype more often for us to talk zzzz u_u

Hey Joryn,

Steeljackal left a pretty extensive rate on this team already, and PISTOLERO weighed in too so I don't really have much to add at all. I do have a couple of spreads you could try for Groudon though. I crunched some numbers and 120 HP / 128 SpD bulkwise lives a +2 Focus Blast from GeoXern after rocks and a +1 Double-Edge from Salamence after rocks, which I get is a pretty high investment, but I guess it's pretty nice. For speed running 192 Jolly for a SD set to outspeed neutral Ray or running 124 with an Adamant nature on Rock Polish sets seems ideal for base 100 down scarfers. Rest in attack of course.

I understand concerns about losing a lot of attack, which is a legitimate concern and I haven't really tried out these spreads but a rate was a pretty good excuse to look into some interesting spreads. Pretty cool team though.

Oh by the way, I would run Darkceus or something since without Yveltal you end up quite weak to Ghostceus.

Good luck!

Everyone covered everything that I wanted too already, but i'm gonna echo Steel and raph's suggestions and go for the optimized Deoxys spread.
While Yveltal is pretty nice, I do think that Mega Gengar can help your team just as much, if not more. (I've been having similar issues with my team post- Mega ray ban, and Gengar is an option I thought of.)
What in fresh hell is that Latios set. Psyshock over GK pls. Defog isn't necessary here, especially if you get rid of Rayquaza. In addition, Defog removes screens which is a pretty big issue for a screens lead like Deo. All of that is irrelevant as you aren't using Defog on Latios, but I digress.

Also where's my shoutout
