Originality Sucks [UU RMT]

Quick RMT, I basically wanted to get back into UU after a few months and made a simple team. I started off with Registeel+Slowking+Torterra, which I've seen on more than on one effective team to say the least, along with Dugtrio to stop the ever common Raikou. I wanted something that can reliably screw with stall, so I grabbed Clefable. Seeing as I was a bit Torterra & Moltres weak, I wanted a quick Grass-typed Pokemon that can at least hit the former while outspeeding the latter, so I gave Sceptile a shot. So far I've been getting above average results, but there's most definitely room for change. Presenting;

Originality Sucks
An UU team

The general strategy is to cause some havoc and surprise some other leads with Sceptile, spread paralysis with Slowking and Registeel and then using Clefable and Torterra to clean up opposing teams. I often need to sacrifice something to bring in Dugtrio, and that sacrifice varies with what I need most. Simple strategy, nothing special about it.

Sceptile @ Life Orb *** Freshly Cut
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

Not what you were expecting. It doesn't match up that well against other leads, but it's still there to do what it needs to do. I can grab quick KOs against LO Moltres leads, set up SD on predicted Protects from Pokemon like Hippopotas and generally be a pest. I often leave Sceptile for late game (or as a sac for Duggy to switch in) to work it's magic, as it doesn't accomplish much against Registeel, Steelix and Froslass at all.

Rock Slide is there basically to deal with the likes of Moltres, Altaria and others, while Earthquake does a hefty ~85% to Registeel after a SD. It's also a reliable way to get rid of Arcanine. EVs are for maximum power while outspeeding Raikou and sending a EQ its way.

Dugtrio @ Life Orb *** Hydra
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Attack / 252 Speed
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Sucker Punch
- Aerial Ace

Standard set. This guy is needed to check so many stuff it's not funny, and it does it's job almost every time. Aerial Ace is in basically because I had nothing better to put in, and it's decent against things like Torterra I guess, but if you have a better option don't hesitate mentioning it.

Again, EVs are for maximum power and the ability to outspeed Raikou, Froslass and almost all of the UU tier.

Slowking @ Leftovers *** Royalty
Nature: Calm
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Defence / 96 Special Defence
- Surf
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave
- Slack Off

Slowking is such a good Pokemon. It checks Moltres (unless it switches in on HP Grass), Arcanine, Typlosion, Steelix and a lot of other Fire- and Fighting-typed Pokemon such as Hitmontop and Charizard. It also check Poliwrath, Azumaril and many other Pokemon my team just can't handle. Thunder Wave is a great move as it paralyzes most switch-ins (as almost no Gound-typed Pokemon will dare switch into Slowking besides maybe Torterra) and makes Clefable and Torterra's late-game job possible. Psychic is used against Fighting-types such as Toxicroak and Blaziken, while hitting Venusaur on the switch in much harder than Ice Beam would.

Since Pokemon such as Moltres are so common, Slowking has most it's bulk in SpD, as Calm + 96 SpD EVs get Swloking an extra point and puts it at 308 SpD, and along with 394 HP you have yourself a defensive behemoth. The rest is in Defence to ease on Slowking when taking hits from Arcanine, Blaziken, Hitmonlee, Azumaril and more.

Registeel @ Leftovers *** Many Solid
Nature: Careful
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Attack / 252 Special Defence
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss
- Ice Punch

Yes, this is standard Registeel. It's reliability with seting-up rocks is unchallenged, and while doing that it also reliably checks numerous threats like Raikou, Mismagius, Altaria and more. It, along with Slowking spreads paralysis around the opponent's team and paves way for a swift clean-up, while still doing it's job of stopping so many threats. Something to mention is how it attracts Moltres, only to paralyze it, meaning Torterra can outspeed and KO it on the spot.

Registeel needs all the SpD it gets to stop stuff like NP Missy and friends, so Careful + 252/252 takes care of that. 4 Attack EVs are filler.

Torterra @ Life Orb *** Atlas
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Attack / 4 Speed
- Earthquake
- Wood Hammer
- Stone Edge
- Synthesis

Such a beastly Pokemon. With the opposition paralyzed, this thing smashes through teams with 348 Attack, LO and amazing STAB attacks. Earthquake kills Registeel, Wood Hammer nails Milotic and Slowbro, Stone Edge hits paralyzed Moltres and Scyther while Synthesis lets it check and kill things like Steelix, Marowak and opposing Synthesis/SD-lacking Torterra, while saying alive and restoring health against stuff like Registeel. Wood Hammer's immense power plows through things like Umbreon and Clefable easily, meaning it fares well against weakened Stall teams as well.

Since Torterra is already relying on paralysis to do stuff, while he needs bulk to check some threats, 252 EVs are placed in HP instead of Speed. 252 Attack gives it the power to do what it does, and amazingly well.

Clefable @ Life Orb *** Jupiter
Nature: Quiet
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 180 HP / 76 Attack / 252 Special Attack
- Double-edge
- Fire Blast
- Grass Knot
- Softboiled

Torterra's right hand man. If I can't touch something mid-game, I send this thing out. Double-edge's 32 PP mean I can outstall Pokemon I do slightly less than have damage to, such as Milotic, Umbreon, Clefable and many many more. Grass Knot is for Milotic while Fire Blast rips through Steelix, Registeel, Venusaur and others. It doesn't have much power like Torterra does, but Clefable beats most stall teams thanks to it's ability to take most of what they got, be it status or rather weak assaults. I don't know how this team would look without this superstar.

I wanted GK to do as much damage as possible to Milotic, so I wanted 252 SpA EVs. Quiet raises SpA even more while lowers Speed, which with paralysis support is a non-issue, and I do need both my defences to take assaluts. Speaking of it, I put the remaining EVs into HP once 76 EVs were placed in Attack to 2HKO 0/252 Calm Chansey 100% of the time.

-------------------------

So there you have it. This team is very very new and was ill-built, so I'd appreciate some smart rates. I'm just getting back into UU, so I'll likely need a lot of help, so any rate will be appreciated!

Hello.

It looks like an OHKO team but I've got a few nitpicks.

WHY do you have Dugtrio?!? You say he checks so many stuff but you don't specify. Torterra already handles Registeel like a champ and can take on HP Ice less Raikou's, and Registeel can handle if it's healthy.

Dugtrio is generally a bad choice unless you use it for taking out Chansey/Registeel (and checking Raikou is a bonus) for powerful special sweepers (like the aforementioned Raikou)

I recommend using a bulkier Torterra:

Torterra (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 212 HP/252 Def/44 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Synthesis
- Roar
- Wood Hammer
- Earthquake

You can check a lot more threats this way, and it's incredibly bulky. You lose out on a bit of power, but you gain the ability to reliably check Rhyperior, Aggron (if they lack Ice punch) and it provides phazing.

I don't know who to replace Dugtrio with, but I'll be back later with one.
