Hello again! Most of my BW Friends may know me as an avid BWer, but I also dabble in other fun tiers too, and this one happens to be one of my favorite. I built this team in TPPL, And it did well in test games, so I used it in my tour games. For those who don't know, Orre colosseum is a Gen 3 doubles format where you bring 6 and pick 4, essentially being the original VGC Format. It is based off of the Orre Colosseum mode in Pokemon Colosseum, where you get to see your opponent's HP, and a variety of other unique quirks that are exclusive to this format. This team is centralized around 1 main thing: Perish Song. Politoed sets perish song while also blocking explosion with Damp, and using Wobbuffet to Trap and remove 2 Pokemon from the field. I just added 4 other broken mons and this masterpiece was born.
Politoed
ALL MY FELLAS (
) (M) @ Iapapa Berry
Ability: Damp
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Perish Song
- Waterfall/Hydro Pump
- Protect
- Hypnosis
Aside from being the best Rain Setter in BW and being one of my favorite Pokemon, I chose Politoed for the unique feature of being able to block Explosion and set up Perish Song, which is the main strategy of this team. Orre battles are fast-paced, with Explosion being the premier KO Button with Pokemon like Metagross and Snorlax being able to essentially get free KOs on the opponent if they so choose. Protect allows Politoed to stall Perish song turns and block strong Special attacks from Zapdos and Gengar. Waterfall is chosen over Hydro pump simply for the good damage it provides, and since surf essentially actually has a base power nerf in this format, I chose the next available option. Hypnosis is to let politoed punish Slow attackers and set up sweepers from ruining Politoed's strategy of singing songs. The EVs are to help Politoed be as tanky as it can.
Zapdos
@ Magnet
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 SpA
- Thunder Wave/Drill Peck
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Thunderbolt
- Detect
Zapdos is one of the best sources to push offensive pressure on the team, with Thunder Wave to cripple a pokemon on the field and strong Electric type attacks to hit hard. Thunderbolt hits everything except ground types at least neutrally, and can stop Suicune and Flying types from overwhelming the rest of the team. Hidden power grass compliments this coverage perfectly, Hitting Marowak and Swampert and other ground types. Marowak in particular is nice to hit because its Lighting Rod ability redirects any thunderbolt that Zapdos uses. Detect is essentially a better protect in this format, as Imprison pokemon such as Dusclops can't stop it from blocking Explosion. Drill peck is another option if you want to hit Shedinja.
Latias
Discount Airplane (
) @ Cheri Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Reflect/Helping Hand/Thunder Wave
- Light Screen/Helping Hand/Thunder Wave
- Protect
- Dragon Claw/Ice Beam
Latias is one of the best support Pokemon in the tier, being able to set screens and can hit decently strong on its own. Latias is one of the best Tanks in the tier as well, being able to take most special attacks pretty well. Screens are here to help my Frail teammates take another hit or two. Protect is to block explosions, and Dragon claw provides a decent neutral hit into most opponents. Helping hand is another option, which should be paired with Curselax and Agility Metagross to help them gain more power after they set up.
Metagross
Mega Megagross (
) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Clear Body
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake
- Explosion
- Agility
Metagross is one of the best Steel types in the tier, and with its huge attack and defenses, it can set up agility and blow things up with Explosion or Meteor mash to stack attack boosts. Earthquake one of the only spread moves that don't get a base power nerf, making it one of the best moves to click into opposing Metagross or Registeel. A Jolly nature lets it outspeed much more with a single agility, notably outrunning Aerodactyl after a single boost. a Lum berry is used to block sleep, burn, and paralysis, all of which can cripple metagross if used.
Snorlax
@ Leftovers/Quick Claw
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Body Slam
- Shadow Ball/Earthquake
- Curse/Self-Destruct
- Protect
Snorlax was chosen to fulfill two roles: the first one being a user that can hit Shedinja, which this team sorely lacks, and the second to be a set up sweeper that can take advantage of Perish Trapping. Max attack and Max HP allows it to hit as hard as possible while living as many hits as possible. Leftovers is to help with the lack of recovery for Snorlax. Body Slam plus Shadow Ball hits every type except Steel for neutral coverage, which is important if you want a Curselax sweep. Protect is to gain recovery with Leftovers and blocks Explosion.
$
Wobbuffet
You're It (
) (F) @ Aguav Berry
Ability: Shadow Tag
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Encore
- Charm/Tickle/Destiny Bond
- Counter
- Mirror Coat/Destiny Bond
Wobbuffet is the star of the show, with Shadow tag to trap unsuspecting targets so that perish song can put them in a grave. Encore is to annoy Targets like Latias to prevent them from being a problem to Politoed. Charm weakens physical attackers like Snorlax to prevent them from dishing out huge damage to my teammates. Counter and Mirror coat lets Wobbuffet punish any attackers who try to attack it, as it is bulky enough to live one hit and then deal back massive damage. Destiny bond is another option to take down a target with it, but it isn't all that useful since it is too slow to take advantage of it, and perish song does that anyways.
Big shoutout to my teammates in TPPL for helping me make this team, and the Orre discord for being a great place to chill and talk about the format. If you want to get into Orre yourself, I will link the Orre thread here:
