Hi all,
This is my most successful RMT yet, being a balanced team utilizing my favourite two Pokemon in Mega Venusaur and Tapu Fini. This team is built around them, with threats such as Choice Scarf Jirachi and Choice Band Tyranitar along with the tanky Alolan Marowak and Zapdos, and so far I've had a pretty big win streak.
Proof of peak:
The team
Chainsaur, the Mega Venusaur
Chainsaur (Venusaur-Mega) @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 232 HP / 176 SpA / 80 SpD / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Synthesis
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Let's start with my personal favourite, Mega Venusaur. With its naturally incredible bulk and solid offensive power, it has quickly and categorically become my favourite Pokemon in OU, often swaying games in my favour. His ability to kill Fairy-types, tank super-effective hits, reliably heal himself, and spread Poison are what I enjoy the most. Additionally, his defensive synergy with Tapu Fini is excellent and beats a lot of defensive walls. Generally, his purpose is to be my team's MVP, kill Fairies like the Tapu's (aside from Lele, of course), bait out Steel-types like Ferrothorn, Scizor, and Skarmory, and beat many, many unprepared teams. Trust me. He's my team's MVP by any stretch.
Dead Narwhal, the Tapu Fini
Dead Narwhal (Tapu Fini) @ Leftovers
Ability: Misty Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 188 Def / 12 SpD / 60 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Nature's Madness
- Haze
- Taunt
And then there's Tapu Fini, yet another favourite of mine. This one's purpose is to stallbreak completely, blocking status with its superb Misty Surge ability, cutting the HP of the opponents by half with Nature's Madness, and phazing with Haze and Taunt. An absolutely solid Pokemon at what it does. It also helps to screw with Bloom Doom offensive Heatran, which generally damages my team--yes, you're probably thinking, Bloom Doom? Indeed, Tapu Fini baits it out for me so I can pivot into Mega Venusaur and cripple its effectiveness entirely--and common threats like Weavile, Keldeo, and Garchomp. Scald is used over Moonblast due to the fact that I lack Water-type STAB on this team entirely. I am considering replacing it with Surf, but I'm not a hundred per cent yet.
Shoes in Spanish, the Zapdos
Shoes in Spanish (Zapdos) @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 60 Def / 176 SpD / 20 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 1 Atk
- Discharge
- Roost
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Defog
Zapdos, out of the lot of them in OU, is my favourite Defogger in OU, due to its solid bulk, ability to spread paralysis, heal, and lure-kill Gliscor, Zygarde, and Garchomp with HP Ice. There's not much more to say, as that largely covers the vast profile of its usefulness, but its ability to paralyse with Discharge helps in places with paraflinching with my Choice Scarf Jirachi, and the Defogging prevents Pokemon like Tapu Fini from being worn down. Unfortunately, Static can't be used in combination with Defog, but it's still solid and gives some Electric typing that Mega Venusaur appreciates in removal of Mega Pinsir and Tornadus-T.
Patrick Star, the Jirachi
Patrick Star (Jirachi) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Heart Stamp
- Healing Wish
Looks like it's St. Patrick's Day, because the lord god of Choice Scarf Jirachi is here, back with his flinchingly-intense glory. As a last resort to beat down sweepers, Jirachi swoops in and, generally, makes the player on the other end a little salty. But whatevs. As my Steel- and Psychic-type, Jirachi is attractive on this team, and rightly so since it seemed too darn fair before. In addition, it has access to the momentum-gaining U-turn, as well as Healing Wish, which repairs my recovery-lacking Tapu Fini and Marowak-Alola. It is switch-in-able against a plethora of Pokemon in OU, and completely destroys Nihilego, Mega Alakazam, and a bunch of others.
Momzilla, the Tyranitar
Momzilla (Tyranitar) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
Choice Band Tyranitar is its best variant in my opinion, as it traps the many frail Psychic-types and Choice-locked Pokemon that try to switch into that darned Landorus-T incredibly hard with its overpowered Pursuit attack. Additionally, Sand Stream which, albeit its counter-effectiveness with Mega Venusaur's Synthesis, makes Tyranitar a Specially-Defensive stalwart. Stone Edge and Crunch hit insanely hard and are fulfilling and nothing but as STAB moves, and Superpower's coverage is solid and great as a filler slot. The weaknesses can hurt after a while, though, and so does its lack of reliable recovery.
Thicc Club, the Alolan Marowak
Thicc Club (Marowak-Alola) @ Thick Club
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 184 HP / 248 Atk / 4 Def / 72 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Shadow Bone
- Fire Punch
- Bonemerang
- Stealth Rock
And last and ... admittedly least is Marowak-Alola, used purely for killing Electric-types and setting up Stealth Rocks. Yeah -- that's about the extent of its good traits for me, I'm afraid. It's good for sacking, though, and the Fire-typing helps with Venusaur and Tapu Fini. Generally, I wouldn't particularly mind trading it out for something. :P
So, thanks for reading my RMT! I will really appreciate any criticism provided. --~~Bellamybug
One thing to note: I'd loooooveeee to put an Unaware Clefable on here somewhere, but I just can't seem to fit it in. And I'm talking about the Wishpassing Cleric kind. It lets me beat set-up sweepers like Salamence, remove status, and keep everything that lacks recovery afloat.
