[OU 5th Gen] (HEAVILY EDITED!) Team "Waffles the Venusaur"

Hello everyone. My first team sucked ass, so I changed pretty much everything! This time, instead of using my favorites, I took the smogon route and actually used pokemon that would fit into my team. (John the bulbasaur`'s N00b level decreased!) It was fun to create a team that actually works this time, but considering that this is my first 5th Gen OU team that wasn't purely dark type, I feel like I could use some pointers from the smogon community. I will add pretty pictures once I am finished drawing all of them.

Things I want you to keep in mind:
-I will not be using hidden power. Sorry. Too tedious to breed for.
-I would prefer to not use legendaries of any tier.
-I will not take out my Venusaur. He is the mascot of this team.
-Please don't ask me to use dream world abilities.

Anyways, without further ado...

Jenkins (Swampert) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
EVs: 240 HP / 216 Def / 52 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Boil Over

Jenkins, my Leadpert. Set up rocks, then wreck shit. I think Jenkins is ugly but he gets the job done. Earthquake for STAB, Ice Beam for those pesky grass types, and Boil Over for STAB and burn hax. Relaxed to make him bulky, plus it's not like he is going to outspeed much anyways. Torrent because Jenkins likes that extra boost when he is low on health.

Waffles (Venusaur) (M) @ Black Sludge
Trait: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 24 SAtk / 176 SDef / 56 Spd
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Leech Seed
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder

Waffles, our mascot. People are focusing so much on Chlorophyll Venusaur that they forget he can make a great special tank. He can absorb toxic spikes, too. First I switch him in on whatever is trying to kill Jenkins (Swampert) or even sometimes Phantom (Shandera). That usually will cause the opponent to send in a counter, which means it's time to break out the sleep powder. If sleep powder doesn't miss, and the opponent isn't a grass type, I usually set up leech seed. Giga Drain is good for wearing opponents down (plus it got a boost in 5th gen) and Sludge Bomb is a good STAB.

Phantom (Shandera) (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Shadow Ball
- Flamethrower
- Psychic

My special sweeper. He takes hits with flash fire that are meant to go to Skarmory or Venusaur. He also comes in on fighting types that try to take out Bandit, my Zuruzukin or Fabio, my Lickilicky. Shandera's high sp. atk stat + a choice scarf makes him a great special sweeper. Energy Ball for waters, Shadow ball + Flamethrower for STAB, psychic for those fighting types that try to take out Zuruzukin.

Razor (Skarmory) (M) @ Shed Shell
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Taunt

Razor is my physical wall. This is pretty standard, so I don't need to explain much. Spikes are a fun entry hazzard to set up, roost for recovery, whirlwind to get more of the opponent's pokemon exposed to spikes and taunt to shut down walls like Nattorei and set up sweepers. Shed Shell because I'm scared for steel trappers and Shandera.

Bandit (Zuruzukin) (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Shed Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SDef
Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk)
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Payback
- Rest

Zuruzukin is a beast. Bulk Up, raise them stats, then rest off the damage you used setting up. Drain punch is great for restoring HP, and Payback has base 100 + STAB if the opponent strikes first. I used a lum berry instead of leftovers so he could get straight to wrecking shit right away + a lot of people have tried to use t-wave on me while setting up.

Fabio (Lickilicky) (M) @ Expert Belt
Trait: Own Tempo
EVs: 116 HP / 140 Atk / 252 SAtk
Quiet Nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Flamethrower
- Power Whip

A lot of you might look at this and go "lol noob, is he fo srs?"... and I can't blame you. Poor guy was NU all of 4th gen, I think. Anyways, Lickilicky does surprisingly well with his beautiful movepool. He can take on a LOT of threats. No one really ever knows what to do when they come up against him either, so I get the shock factor a lot of the time. BoltBeam for it's notorious coverage, flamethrower for that pesky Nattorei and other steel + bug types, and power whip for physical force. He doesn't have the best offensive stats, but it usually takes a few hits to take him down. Expert Belt helps put holes in the opponent.

I'm still a n00b at competitive battles, so please keep that in mind. I heavily edited my old team... hell, I only kept Venusaur... and even then I changed even him. I hope this team is at least a little bit better than my other team. Any constructive criticism is highly appreciated.

Just some random bits that popped into my mind:
I would recommend changing synthesis, as you have a weather starter on your team.
You also put crunch for coverage but do you mean thunderpunch? ( on lucario)

Where do I begin? First of all, your Pokemon are outclassed if you don't play them to their strengths.

Blastoise has some potential being a Bulky Spinner, but the Bulk can be even better with Rain Dish (until DrizzleToed is banned that is) especially without Leftovers.

I can guarantee you though, once your set is scouted Burungeru is going to wall, and Stall you out with Recover. The Nattorei/Burungeru core in general eats this team alive.

Starting from the beginning, your FWG Core. I'll start with Grass first.

A Pokemon that can better full the role of your current Venusaur is Harvest Exeggutor. With a Lum Berry and Rest, it acts as a status absorber with recovery, and packs Psychic for all of the new Fighting types out there, though Hidden Power Fire is also an option. Sleep Powder is accessible, along with whatever Grass attack you prefer.

Blastoise is begging to get walled with that coverage if Berungeru is present. While I think Keldeo may be the best option as far as a core, if you want to keep Blastoise, Hidden Power Electric would be great, the trouble is finding a place to put it.

Arcanine is surprisingly well built, but your team doesn't bait many Fire attacks for hum to switch in on. The only issue is recovery. Shame that the Wish mechanics ave changed, or Togekiss could Pass, but it's still an option over Roost to benefit your entire team rather then just Togekiss.

Now to the other big issue, Sandstorm and little recovery, especially with your own Tyranitar.

Only two members of your team are immune, and many don't have reliable recovery.

Just thoughts, and I know you're putting a lot of restrictions on yourself, but just realize what the current competitive environment is should you decide to use this team outside the games.

It has been 6 days since you started your last RMT. Is that allowed, because I want to repost my stall team with 4 different pokemon. Also, relying on you luke for a dragon resist is a bad idea because its frail. So, adding a bulky steel like jirachi or heatran instead of luke might be a good idea. Jirachi can give wish support which is a nice addition to your team, seeing it has almost no recovery. Also, specs tios and specs sazandoraza can pressure your team because of its lack of bulk, especially when it's weakened. Maybe having crunch on your tyranitar is good. Also drop synthesis on your venusar or drop ttar because they conflict with each other.

Well, this is a nice update, and I'll do my best to help once again.

I was about to suggest Roobushin over Zuruzukin, who runs similar movesets with higher stats, but the use of Shed Skin and Rest is an interesting idea. I don't know how bulky Zuruzukin is, having never used one, but if it gets the job done, I say go for it.

However, I do think a couple of your team members could be condensed down. Swampert and Skarmory's roles for example could easily be combined into a a Nattorei. Swampert isn't doing as well this generation, and I think you'll get many benefits in using Nattorei to set up your hazards, and something more offensive like a Starmie for coverage.

That does raise the problem of having two grass types though, so maybe sticking with Skarmory isn't such a bad idea.

Starmie could also fit in over Lickylicky, as it has similar coverage, and the bonus ability to Spin.

On Venusaur you might want to try Synthesis over Leech Seed, and throw on a Life Orb. With Synthesis, Leaf Storm is an option over Giga Drain, but with the boost in power it got, it may be unnecessary.

Not sure if any of that was useful, but hey, test it out and see if you find something.

Okay, I'm sorry if I sound juvenile, but could you include pictures of your team mates? It would make your RMT alot more interesting, appealing, and even easier for your raters. I'll try to rate soon (busy with my team).

Here's a link if you want them animated.

Also, do you have a threat list? I'd then be able to help you find ways to deal with them, along with everybody else of course.
