OU Bulky/Stall With Rain

Intro

Hello everyone, I'm Mannosuke and am pretty new to the world of Smogon, I've tested this team out against my friends but only once on wifi so results from battles are skewed.

Sub-Intro

I guess that I'll talk about my team. The team (as suspected) is based around having rain up for thunder, gust/hurricane, rain dish and for boosting the power of scald. My team has a lot of OU pokes but has some uu and even nu (from what I understand) but Quagsire fits in really well in my opinion. I'm pretty new to the pokemon meta game and such so I've come to smogon to get training! It's sad that I missed signing up for a tutor though >_>

Team

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Nick: ウィシュ
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP, 32 Speed 224 SpD
Nature: Bold
- Thunder
- Stealth Rock
- Iron Head
- Wish

Jirachi in the rain is a beast, especially since it gets serene grace boosted thunder paralysis Hax and can pull off paraflinching really well. Being one of my entry hazard setters and wish support I made sure that she was bulky, (which my team revolves around.) I set my jirachi with 64 speed EVs so that it can out-speed many threats, as I understand, in the game (for its flinching iron head). Along with bulky HP EVs and being able to pass as either a physical tank or spec, I set it up as a Spec due to the other members lacking in spec bulk. Finally, being the steel type that it is, it can take dragon moves and other moves that my team couldn't normally take.

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Nick: Oblivious
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Def, 4 SpD
Nature: Relaxed
-Scald
-Recover
-Earthquake
-Toxic
Being a bulky/stall team we have our main physical tank with status spreading. Quagsire is a great addition to the team due to his nullification of electric moves, which normally would be a huge pain to me. Along with the type coverage gained from the EQ I can switch Quag into a lot of situations.
My EVs should be pretty self explanatory, but the 4 points in Spec D are for that little bit more survive-ability that I wouldn't have with speed investments (it's saved me before >_>). Scald is for crippling physical sweepers and poison/steel types that resist the toxic (along with being stab, rain boosted, damage)

a21G

Politoed @ Leftovers
Nick: つなみ
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP, 176 Def, 16 Speed, 64 SpA
Nature: Bold
-Scald
-Toxic
-Protect
-Perish Song
This team's bread and butter, I have a habit of leading with her every game, giving me predictability... So, EV-wise, as another bulky status spreader, Politoed comes in with heavy health investments and medium defense investments. I run 40 speed to out speed many other bulky leads who come in to set up rocks and such (not enough to out speed many tyranitars though (to set up rain over their sand)) also running 64 Spec Attack EVs so that my rain, stab boosted scald will pack a nice punch and take out many un-suspecting gilscors. Protect is for scouting and poison racking. Perish Song is just in case I need to force a switch against a set-up sweeper or something.

Dragonite @ Leftovers
Nick: シェンロング
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 HP, 100 SpA, 156 SpD
Nature: Calm
-Hurricane
-Thunder
-Dragontail
-Roost
Wow, rain Dragonite is pretty beastly, having access to both of the rain-accuracy boosted moves and getting stab on one of them >_> This kid is bulky as heck with multiscale and has pretty good base stats to boast. My EV placements complements Dragonite as a Tanky DPS, being able to take all sorts of hits from specially oriented pokes like Latias and being able to dish it out with 100 points into Special Attack. Getting stab accurate Hurricane hits on enemy pokes won't be something most people will like :D. Also, to have some Pseudo-Hazing, I've thrown in dragon tail, in case I need to send someone from whence they came. Roost is for stalling and for temporary removal of flying (in the case I'd need it) also, this guy can take auraspheres and focus blasts really nicely, especially with the multiscale.

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Nick: イカむすめ
Ability: Rain Dish
EVs: 252HP, 212 Def, 44 Spd
Nature: Bold
-Toxic Spikes
-Rapid Spin
-Protect
-Scald
This thing heals like a toxic orb breloom >_<. Tentacruel is my spinner and my main source of entry hazards. I desperately needed a spinner due to my multi scale dragonite getting eaten due to rocks taking his scales away and so I thought to myself, no better one for this bulk stall team than tentacruel! packing a wall of hp and defense EVs, this kid can take a lot of punishing before retreating behind protect to gain back 12.5% of it's health per turn. I gave it scald (like everyone else, I know) so that it could cripple those silly sweepers that think they can set up on poor little tentacruel, also for the coverage lacking due to steel and poison not taking no sass from toxic and toxic spikes. Toxic spikes imo are a great choice for entry hazards on this team since it is oriented at toxic stalling with some bulky pokes. Finally, he's here to sponge fighting and bug type attacks.

tornadus_in_a_heavy_rain_storm_by_aasgardptd-d3jkqcc.jpg

Tornadus @ Lifeorb
Nick: Tornadus
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed 4 Attack
Nature: Timid
-Hurricane
-Rain Dance
-Focus Blast
-U-Turn

So here is my sweeper, the god tornadus, packing around a SpA stat that isn't any laughing matter, stab rain accuracy boosted Hurricane with those EVs will leave many teams in shambles along with the timid boosted speed that will out do many special beasts like chandelure (along with many others.) Rain dance does get priority and is here in the case that my Politoed gets KOed and I need some rain support. U-Turn, I felt, is a filler move here to get me out of the fight while doing some damage and getting some damage off on grass types (who give me trouble). Focus blast is for type coverage and works really nicely on this team.

Possible Pokemon For The Team

Ferrothorn @ Rockyhelmet
Nick: そのいしゃ
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP 108 Def 148 SDef
Nature: Relaxed
- Protect
- Leech Seed
- Gyroball
- Power Whip

Conclusion

Well, here is my first RMT, give me your opinions and ask all your questions.

It's a good team, I really like it.
As you have a rain stall team, I was really expecting you to have a Ferrothorn, which is absolutely beast in rain. You can give him this incredibily annoying set.
-Thunder Wave
-SR
-Leech Seed
-Protect/Gyro Ball

You won't have wish support, but I don't think you really need it.

And a last tip: Make the pics smaller!

Hey there it looks like you've got yourself a decent rainstall going! I just want to make a couple tweaks here and there and set you on your way! Alright so first off take off Rocky Helmet on Quagsire and replace it with Leftovers. A lot of times Quag would appreciate the extra recovery even with Recover.
Secondly on Tentacruel I suggest putting those 44 evs into Speed which iirc allows him to outspeed Defensive Gliscor which allows you to Ohko it with a little prior damage with Scald doing around 85% I believe.
Thirdly if you find your Politoed wanting more bulk you can always try out this spread: 252hp/ 240def/ 16 spe. This allows Poli to outspeed most Jellicent(re: ones that dont speeed creep) and toxic them before they can taunt you while still keeping a lot of bulk to take on the likes on Landorus which could be a big problem for you if Quag is gone.
Lastly replace Tornadus with Ferrothorn as this gives you spikes which can really help with weakening threatning pokes such as Virizion, Haxorus, and also helps deter teams using the Rotom W- Scizor switch core. Also if you find that Virizion and Terrakion are plauging your team you can try a Latias over Dragonite to help with that issue. Dragonite can help beat Virizion but only at full health but it doenst beat Terrakion.

tl;dr
Leftovers>Rocky Helmet on Quag

44 spe evs on Tenta

Different Ev Spread for Poli and Ferro over Tornadus

Latias> Dragonite if Terrakion and Virizion plague you

(Ferrothorn) (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 168 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 228 Def / 30 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Reflect
- Dragon Pulse
- Recover

Good luck!!

Thanks a lot guys, im with you on the speed EVs on tentacruel, also, I am wondering about taking out my tornadus. I really think that i should have at least one sweeper? lefties on quag sounds fine :3 and hey, im going to update around 3:00-5:00 pacific time. if you could kinda explain why i shouldn't have a sweeper, that would be great. (not being sassy) finally: how do i make my pictures smaller?

You should definitely keep tornadus. When you have an opportunity he can come in and revenge kill. With rain up nothing can safely counter him.
BTW you should change Jirachi for ferrothorn as someone above has suggested and also make dragonite a bulky set upper with DD.

-Dragonite @leftovers Careful
252 HP 44 att 212 spe
-DD
-Dragon claw
-Roost
-Earthquake/Extreme speed

ENJOY!

Well since it seems like the team is going more for rain stall than rain offense, Tornadus just seems out of place while Ferro gives you more hazards and reliable switch in to Haxorus which would otherwise run through this team. Also with Rocky Helmet+Iron Barbs, Ferro can act as a pseudo-spin blocker as pokemon coming to spin away hazards take all the damage from hazards than an extra I thikn 25% percent from Iron barbs and Rocky Helmet leaving their spinner incapacitated.

Also while im thinking about it switching Jirachi's evs to 252 hp and 252 Spdef with a Sassy Nature is better than Bold as you get more special bulk and still let iron head hit harder and Rachi really doesn't need to outspeed much.
